WW1

Stick It Down are cropping this weekend.  Antonia's challenge was to pick an old SID sketch and create a layout.  I picked my sketch from September 2016 and combined it with White With 1 's January colour palette of Bayou Blue. I used Shimmerz Chance of Rain which I think is my new favourite colour! Oh boy, this photo shows how much my white desk has aged! Here is the process: Thank you for looking!

Shaky Penguin!

I have the most adorable stamp from Skull and Cross Buns .  It's a diddy little penguin.  I wanted to make him sparkle... I stamped him out and fussy cut around him.  I cut his tummy out so I could fill it with sequins. I filled the rest of the shaker card with another mix of sequins, from SpiegelMom Scraps of course. This is possibly my most favourite card of all the cards I have ever made!

Love Bracelet

Hi Crafty Friends, I'm here today with a bracelet tutorial for Crafty Ribbons . First off I gathered my ingredients - Heart ribbon and 2 contrasting colours of 3mm organza ribbons (you'll need a little more than twice the length of your wrist of each ribbon).  A few seed beads.  Fixings for a bracelet and 2 ribbon clasps.  Needle and thread, jewellery pliers, matte medium. Of course you can choose any colours and any ribbons. Cut your main ribbon (in this case the heart ribbon) in half.  Add the organza ribbons to one end with a couple of small stitches.  Ensure it is close enough to the end of the ribbon to be covered by the ribbon clasps. Seal the edges of the ribbon and the stitches with a little matte medium or P.V.A. glue.  This will prevent fraynigfraying and make sure your knot stays tight. Measure 9 equal distances and make tiny marks with a pencil.  This is where we will add our beads. Cross the organza ribbons over each p...

Scraplifting The Boss!

I asked Jody aka SpiegelMom if we could scraplift her as part of our Sparklers DT work .  You see, I had my eye on one of her gorgeous layouts... little did I know that half of the Sparklers would pick the same layout to lift!!  Here is Jody's... Truly stunning! And here is my take...  I c ombined T eal Me Tomorrow, Peacock Strutt and Shabby Chic Christmas sequin mixes with Shimmerz Paints Grape Escape Vibez and 'that paper' from Dear Lizzy's Lovely Day collection. I tried to add tonnes of tiny details... I've decided I need to add initials to layouts of my nephews as they are fairly similar in looks and little one wears his big brother's old clothes!  I confuse easily! I drew a version of one of the flowers, translated it into a cut file and cut several from vellum.  Adding these is bumped up the texture of the layout.  It is quite hard to capture how much impact they have on photographs. I wonder if I will ever stamp a date s...

Stick It Down

Here is my January DT layout for Stick It Down ... I was not a fan of the sketch - but I made it so I can say that without offending anyone!  This is take three - I don't usually have to restart a layout let alone restart twice! I settle on lots of subtle layers behind my photos and a simple watercolour background... Unusually for me, I have embraced a cream background.  I know it's not miles away from my beloved white background but it does give the layout a completely different feel. The colour palette is Autumnal to match the photos.  I love to work with these colours.  The layout tells the story of a drive through the New Forest randomly coming across free range pigs who were out to clear up the acorns. Seriously, it's the best sight!  A pig crossing the road! Here's the video:

Stuck-ish

You know when you see a sketch and get inspired but by the end of the creation it doesn't really look all that much like the sketch?  Yep, read on... This is the January skecth from Laura W at Stuck and the diamonds started me thinking about a pack of epoxy cloud stickers in my stash.  Already this doesn't make sense, diamonds, clouds, what?! However, I really like how it turned out.  Can you see the sketch?  The diamonds hanging down become the clouds, moon and stars.   I worked on a smaller panel so the scale was right.  When the clouds were stretched across a 12x12 they looked too small. I had fun with some doodling, pencil work and sewing.  It has made me think; I have 4 sets of different colouring pencils and I never use them in my scrapbooking.  This has got to change!! I popped my panel up and tucked loads of sequins in and around the edge.  I love this look and think I definitely need to play with it more in...
