Skull And Cross Buns | Hochanda

Skull and Cross Buns are on Hochanda on Friday 3rd July at 9am.  There are brand new exclusive stencils along with some awesome stamp sets.  I'll be sharing some samples I have made over the next few days.  First up... I may have bought a dino baking set from Lakeland purely because the dinosaur stamp set will be feature on the show.  I may also have a pair of dino leggings on their way.  I am totally OK with my lack of willpower to resist everything dino! All the stamping is done with my Pinkfresh ink cubes.  I am still really enjoying these inks - great colours and perfect coverage. I've also thrown in a few stamps from the Planner Banner set as confetti around the page. I also used the dino stamp set to make some wrapping paper for a little gift box.  I learnt that the ink will go staright through tissue paper so you need something super absorbant underneath else you'll be in smudge city! And I'm finally on the slim line card bandwagon... As you can see I real

ScrapTubeUK | Summer Summer Summertime

Hey there crafty friends! This layout is part of a video hop with the UK Scrappy YouTuber's Cooperative.  The theme is summer which is appropriate with the ridiculously hot (for the UK at least) weather.  I've used a few bits pulled from my stash - acetate, stickers and alpha stickers from Pretty Little Studio; Ice lolly motifs from a custom cards set from Crafty Templates; Stamps from Technique Tuesday, StickerKitten and Skull and Cross Buns; Ink cubes from Pinkfresh Studio; thread courtesy of my Mum's cross stitch stash! Slightly ashamed to say the month stamp is from 2012 and had never been used! I've done my lazy sewing - one stitch for each grid line.  That's about all the hand sewing I can cope with.  My sewing machine has been for it's regular clean and check.  It's the same machine that my Nanny used to make dresses for me back in the late 80's.  Still works like a dream, even better now it has been oiled and de-fluffed. Here's the process:

Scrap Academy | Die Cutting

I am honoured to have been asked to teach over at the Scrap Academy.  Here is my first lesson: https://youtu.be/zsgtrXEjvWM It's a long one but apparently I had a lot to say!! Here are the projects I made with the die cuts... This uses lots of different die cuts from both metal dies and the cut files. I've also used a metal die to emboss cardstock. And to just quickly explain the photo, this is me using phototherapy for my hayfever.  I hadn't realised how crazy it looked until I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror! And here's a little TN spread using the partial die cut I show in the lesson. It's a fun technique and I hope to explore it more soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook | Pinkfresh Studio

The big dilemma of the day - Use the yellow side of the patterned paper or use the hearts side.  Toughie! I went with both opting for the hearts on the larger piece. I started by choosing some stickers to match my photo.  The pieces of patterned paper were this size, left over from the last layout.  As it turned out they were the perfect size and didn't need further trimming. I didn't buy much of this collection so I added in some thread nests to repeat some of the colours from the heart paper.  I feel it gives a more cohesive layout if each colour is represented in different forms around the page. Here's the process vid:

Stick It Down

I currently have a giveaway running on my YouTube channel celebrating the milestone of 1000 subscribers.  Check it out here: https://youtu.be/Itt7SZ1FUVY Two layout video combos from me today... here is my Stick It Down layout.  I adapted the sketch to work for 3x4 photos on a 9x12 base. The papers are from StickerKitten's Pretty Stitches range and are the perfect colours to match Lego bricks. The lego brick stamps are from Skull and Cross Buns and have been stamped with Distress Oxide inks and fussy cut out. Check out the process video here:

CSI | Case 322

I currently have a giveaway running on my YouTube channel celebrating the milestone of 1000 subscribers.  Check it out here: https://youtu.be/Itt7SZ1FUVY Here is my DT layout for CSI case 322 .  I've been led by the colours (peach, orange and navy) and the paint smears on the case file. I colour matched some sequins and puffy stickers.  The stickers are from Pinkfresh Studio and have been sat in my stash for a while now so I'm pleased to get a few used up. The paint smear is created with texture paste mixed with brusho crystals.  I love the variation in colour that the brusho gives. I've added some fancy zig zag sewing to attach my trimmed down white cardstock to a peach backing sheet. You can watch the video here:

Yay for 1K! YouTube Hop

I recently noticed I had hit 1000 subscribers on YouTube.  I ignored it for a few days thinking the count would go down again!  It didn't so I decided to celebrate.  I have pulled together some of my favourite scrappy videomakers and have a small video hop for you to watch.  Times are hard right now and I think anything I can do to create a little bit of happiness is well worth doing.  That said I have 6 prizes from my favourite places to shop.  To be in with a chance of winning one of the prizes pop over to watch the videos and leave some comments. Here's the layout I created.  I used something from each of the companies you can win prizes from... Stamps from Skull and Cross Buns , sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps , leaf die cuts from Lollipop Box Club , Pinkfresh Studio alphas from Lottie Loves Paper , patterned papers from StickerKitten and part of the Bed of Roses cut file from Pretty My Page . The StickerKitten papers are all from different collections and still look fab t

Scrapbooking | Fussy Cutting and Painting

I seem to have fussy cut the majority of a sheet a Cocoa Vanilla floral paper.  I thought I'd paint myself a background for them to sit on... and then used barely any of them on top as I couldn't bear to cover the painting!! The paints are all from Shimmerz in varying shades of blue with a touch of Miner Miner 49er - which is a fantastic shade of gold - thrown in towards the end. This is take two of the painting as the first try was far too tight.  I loosened up for this attempt so much so that I dropped the paintbrush at one point.  That made for even more looseness as I had to incorporate the extra paint it left where it landed! Embellishing was super simple with three gold thread tangles and some sequins. I have loads of the fussy cut flowers left over so I have started painting another background to work on top of.  Hopefully I'll be able to bear covering more of it up! I've reached the fantastic milestone of 1000 subscribers on YouTube.  To celebrate I've broug

4PP&1SS | Episode 3

I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed when ALL of the new collections come out at once.  It's especially bad after Creativation when American Crafts releases what feels like 100 collections at once.  There also seems to be a supply thing and if you don't buy straight away you miss out forever .  I wonder cynically if that is all part of the plan.  Then there is Cocoa Vanilla and Pink Fresh too... mustn't miss out on them either.  This time I decided I would place one order for all things under the AC umbrella.  Lottie Loves Paper is my shop of choice and I had a good browse and made a list.  Then I crossed off most of the things on the list when I realised how many sheets of paper that would be!  I settled on 5th & Monaco (paper pad, ephemera and stickers), Paige Evans (one sheet of the pastel diamonds) and Maggie Holmes (four sheets of paper and the sticker sheet).  I was so excited by 5th & Monaco and yet it has sat there untouched so far.
