Shape Series | Heart Makes

Here's a round up of some heart themed makes from the last few weeks. First up is a heart embossed background for a CAS(ish) card.  Coverplate from Time For Teas Designs, bird stamp from MFT, sequins and sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh.  I love the quilt-y puffiness of embossing with a coverplate but I'm never completely sure the best way to capture it in a photo. Now a run of layouts, some more 'hearty' than others.  I really wanted to use up as many of my puffy heart stickers as possible.  It became clear that just a scattering per layout wasn't going to do the job... My cut file, patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio, bits and bobs from the depths of my stash.  (This type of cut file is great as you get two usable pieces, one the opposite of the other.  Picture where this is blue being white and where this is white being blue.  I'll share the other layout soon...) I changed tack and went all out with the stickers... This is based on an old sketch of...

Shape Series | 2 HEART

I'm moving on from circles (the "one-sided shape") to hearts (a "two-sided shape").  Still yet to conquer the card concept thnigy but I'm moving on anyway.  I'll come back to it when the inspiration strikes. I pretty much think of hearts as a neutral, as in they go with virtually everything and any design.  In scrapbooking I'm scrapping photos of someone I love, or a place or view I want to remember - and therefore have love for.  In card making I only send cards to people I love - so hearts are always a good fit.  Perhaps I've set myself to fail though, choosing this shape in February?  I'm SO over the whole Valentine's whatnot already and the day itself hasn't even arrived!  As long as I keep separating love and romantic love I should be OK. I'm also seeing this as a stash-busting opportunity as I have approximately eleventy billion heart stickers.  Let's get them used up!! I have one new sketch for the month which further e...

Scrapbook | Pinkfresh Studio

The big dilemma of the day - Use the yellow side of the patterned paper or use the hearts side.  Toughie! I went with both opting for the hearts on the larger piece. I started by choosing some stickers to match my photo.  The pieces of patterned paper were this size, left over from the last layout.  As it turned out they were the perfect size and didn't need further trimming. I didn't buy much of this collection so I added in some thread nests to repeat some of the colours from the heart paper.  I feel it gives a more cohesive layout if each colour is represented in different forms around the page. ScrapTubeUK | Fresh Starts

I'm part of a little scrappy YouTube hop today with this project. The theme was new beginnings and the challenge was to use something out of your comfort zone. I've gone for a scraptherapy style 6x8 spread featuring a caterpillar and lots of (shock horror) pink! I don't like pink - not sure if I've ever mentioned that!  I do love caterpillars and butterflies and the concept of mushing down to nothing and re-emerging as a beautiful delicate being that flutters so gracefully. The majority of  the supplies are from the latest Lollipop Box Club kit called Alice's Tea Party. Here's the video... 4PP&1SS | Episode 2

I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed when ALL of the new collections come out at once.  It's especially bad after Creativation when American Crafts releases what feels like 100 collections at once.  There also seems to be a supply thing and if you don't buy straight away you miss out forever .  I wonder cynically if that is all part of the plan.  Then there is Cocoa Vanilla and Pink Fresh too... mustn't miss out on them either.  This time I decided I would place one order for all things under the AC umbrella.  Lottie Loves Paper is my shop of choice and I had a good browse and made a list.  Then I crossed off most of the things on the list when I realised how many sheets of paper that would be!  I settled on 5th & Monaco (paper pad, ephemera and stickers), Paige Evans (one sheet of the pastel diamonds) and Maggie Holmes (four sheets of paper and the sticker sheet).  I was so excited by 5th & Monaco and yet it has ...

Scrapbooking | My Perfect Little Weirdo

Umm... he wanted to 'sit under you' and that's exactly what he did.  And who was I to try and stop him! Focusing on the layout rather than the oddity of the photos I have used the Love Lace mandala from Pretty My Page ( Download here .  Purchase as a pre-cut here .) cut on white and inkblended with some Distress Oxide inks.  When I inkblend over a cut file I do it before I remove the cut from the mat.  This way it is held in place and I'm not rubbing over thin delicate areas of card which would easily tear. I piced a couple of papers to match the inks and added very simple layering behind each of the photos.  I added my title and journalling in a block using word stickers and alphas interspersed with my handwritting. He was moving my knees together so it blocked out the light (or to 'close the light' as he said) and these pudgy hands on my legs just looked so cute! Seriously, I couldn't love this little one and his brother more if I trie...

Scrap Squad | number 9

I loved the scraplift that the ladies over at Scrap Squad chose last week (and I managed to lift it and post it in the week it was set!  Woohoo!) My take is much more bold than the original, using up two packets of red and black foam stickers. I hid my title and little one's iniatials in amongst the jumble of letters.  I imagine the chaos of the letters is similar to the chaos of ten three year old at football training!  I added in some footballs too, because the layout was screaming out for football embellishments.  These are homemade/printed as I've never found this sort of thing in any of my scrap shop hangouts! I thought this would be a good clear out of my alpha stickers but it's only two from the bulging box.  I'll need to do another three or four like this to make a proper dent in them.  I'm low on e's and a's so title options are few! Thanks for stopping by!

Scrap Squad | L

I'm sharing another Scrap Squad lift from last weekend.  This is a take on a Sarah Jayne layout.  You might know SJ as Mrs Lottie Loves Paper... and on that note Lottie Loves paper are having a Cyber Crop this weekend. Pretty much everything on this layout is Pretty Little Studio/Zinia Redo.  The majority is from her first collection with a few heart stickers added from her second collection. You can't beat a bit of rainbow stitching!  Plus I have to justify having SO many threads - I need them to match all of the papers! Same goes for enamel dots!  I'm low on blue enamel dots so I'm seeking a mixed pack of blues... give a shout if you know of a pack as so far I've not found any. Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down | love you

Hello!  Happy Monday! Here is my layout for Stick It Down.  When I drew up this sketch I had the layout in mind so I pretty much copied the sketch exactly... I used my Silhouette Cameo and sketch pens to create the love you patterned paper strip, the Y and U, and the top peek-a-boo section.  I then switched to a cutting blade and cut them out.  I also cut out an O to use as a template to trim my photo.  Whilst I had the Silhouette up and running I cut a stitchnig template for 'love' on a 12x12 background.  I make my stitching templates by switching the solid line of text to a dashed line.  Also, as I am a lazy impatient bad hand sewist I go through and delete every other dash.  This makes the stitches larger and takes a lot less time to complete the sewing! The hardest part of the layout was choosing which colour heart stickers to use... I opted for yellow, a deliberate swerve of my instinct to use green.  I'd use green o...

Scrapbooking | Clearing the desk!

I'm not very good at tidying.  I get bored.  I get tired (more than usual!).  I just don't like it.  So, instead of putting these bits away I made a layout.  Everything here bar the thread was on my desktop left over from other projects. I sewed white vellum over the yellow to soften it so it matched the project life card. Still loving the little extra detail that thread ends tied in a bow adds... Here is the process video: Thanks for stopping by!
