Touched By Sunshine

Here is the next installment in my Pretty Little Studio guest designer stint.  I was sent Zinia'sSunny Memories to work with and have been having so much fun! This layout was a right pickle to make.  What was in my head did not turn out well so, as you'll see in the video, parts were pulled off and set to the side... I am happy with the final layout though.  The flowers in the kit are great shapes and colours. It is very subtle but I added some texture paste through a stencil from Skull And Cross Buns in the background.  It shows better in real life than it does in the photos. The parts that were ripped off the layout found a new home on a card... I added some paper inside the envelope and a little flourish inside the card too. Thanks for stopping by... hello love you

I'm very excited to share my first Skull And Cross Bund DT piece with you today... I was sorting through some bits and bobs in my craft room and came across a bundle of red and pink bits from a valentine's swap I did earlier this year.  I didn't want to find a home to store them so I used them on this layout... I added in Skull and Cross Buns Decreasing Circles stencil, Geometric Heart Acrylic in hot pink and stamps from the Quirky Sentiments and Retro Sweeties clear sets.  Here's the video:

Glittery Hands Box - June

Sharing a layout made with my June Glittery Hands Box today... Check out the write up over on the Glittery Hands Box blog!

Hot Air Balloon Card for StickerKitten

In Unicorn Fairground there are a few packs of wood embellishments. I sometimes struggle to actually use wood bits rather than just hoard them! You can't really hoard when you are on a design team though... kind of defeats the object! There were a couple of clouds in the ephemera pack and I paired them with a balloon for this card.  I layered up a few layers of white fibre paper and the cloud die cuts and ran them through the sewing machine.  Once sewn I trimmed the fibre to the shape of the cloud.  They fluff up a bit at the top and bottom to add some dimension too. And the balloon?  I painted it with some Shimmerz paints.

Guest Designing for Pretty Little Studio

Hi guys! I'm back with another layout using Zinia 's Sunny Memories for Pretty Little Studio. The starting point for this layout was the gorgeous deep magenta colour that features in the collection.   I pulled out a 3x4 card, a 4x6 clear card, a banner piece and some labels.   I used my craft knife to carefully cut around part of the design on the 3x4 card so my photo could slide underneath.   I decided early in that staples would feature heavily in my design.   I often hide my staples underneath layers but this time I wanted them showing.   As I got further in I realised my stapler didn’t have the required reach so I added the staples first and then used tape or glue to attach the pieces where I wanted them. My favourite thing to do with acetate is layer things both beneath and on top of it, and to use dimensional adhesive to add some height.   I hid the majority of the dimensional adhesive behind the photo and flower but decided as it didn’t s

Kraft Card

I caved and bought a set of Polychromos.  I used them for the first time on this card and I find myself wondering why I didn't buy them a few years ago!  I am in love.  I totally have no idea if I'm doing it right or using them to their full potential so I've signed up for Sandy Allnock's new class to see how good I can get! The flower stamp is from Concord and 9th and the sentiment is from Feed Your Craft.  I stamped it onto ribbon instead of cardstock.  It would be slightly crisper on cardstock but I like the extra texture it adds and that you can see faint polka dots showing through from the other side.  And, you know, I got to use ribbon!  That's always something that makes me happy! Linking up to Muse which inspired the kraft background.

Sparkly Surprise Gift Wrap

I love wrapping presents more than I love unwrapping them.  I had this crazy idea to make a sequin shaker pocket window in some wrapping.  I measured out my paper and picked a spot that would give a tantalising glimpse but not give anything away... I moved over to my craft desk and carefully cut the dinosaur out with a craft knife. I recycled a piece of craft packaging filling it with a spoonful of star sequins and sealing the opening with double-sided tape.  I ran some glue around the edge of the cut out dinosaur on the inside on the paper and attached the pocket of sequins. Then wrapped the present and finished it off with two contrasting ribbons from Crafty Ribbons.  You can find the range of satin ribbons here and the birthday ribbons here . Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down

It's single page team reveal day at Stick It Down ... Here is my take on the sketch...  I was very liberal with the sketch!  I switched the hexagons to eggs and rotated the whole thing 90 degrees. I used stamps from Heffy Doodle to create my eggs.  I adore this set of photos so was very pleased to get them scrapped.  The papers are from Freckled Fawn. You'd never believe I didn't have a lime green pen if you saw how many pens I own!  I plumped for a coloured pencil instead. Here's the video:

Guest Designing for Pretty Little Studio

I am so excited to share my first guest designer project for Pretty Little Studio using the fabulous Sunny Memories collection by Zinia . I don’t know about you but I can go a little stash blind when I have a bunch of new supplies.   I tend to adore 99% of what is in front of me and want to use it all at once whilst at the same time wanting to hoard it all so it lasts forever!   As my style is quite clean and simple I need to be selective.   In this case, I was drawn to all the smiley faces, in particular, the acetate.   One of my favourite things about Pretty Little Studios is the range of vellums and acetates.   Sunny Memories includes a pack of 4x6 acetate overlays and if I had to pick, arm twisted and stash at risk, I would choose this as my most wanted item from the collection. With the 4x6 card chosen as my main piece, I gathered a few bits from the collection in matching colours.   Sequins are my thing so I grab a couple of spoonfuls in coordinating colour
