Bike Tag

Sometimes I have these crazy ideas that I need to get out of my head... you know, like when you wonder if you can make a mini bike out of wire with buttons for wheels... It turns out you can, imagination, two buttons, pliers and about 80cm of thin craft wire is all you need! I added it to a tag (I get mine from SpiegelMom Scraps and the code Laura15 will get you a discount) with some seam binding and satin ribbon from Crafty Ribbons .  I tied the tag with a little more seam binding and 3mm grosgrain in a matching light orchid . I know it's quirky but I love it!! Thanks for stopping by!

Day Dream

It is challenge day at Crafty Ribbons Challenges . Here is a layout using Crafty Ribbons new lace... (at time of publication the lace is so new it is not yet on the website!!) I am totally in love with it!  The lace that is.  It comes in so many colours and I don't think there are many colours that I wouldn't use. Here I've gone grey to match the snippets and flair badge.  (Used snippets - tick.  Playing at The Playground !)  I had some wired ribbon that I wanted unwired, instead of throwing the wire away I bundled it up to make a 'bed' for the flair to sit on. I used my new (for Christmas) glitter glue and butterfly stamp and added some haematite star beads.  They had been a bracelet at one point but I decided they would make a good embellishment! I love the grey tones and the dark teal together, definitely one to remember as a successful colour combination! Entering at Scribble and Scraps and Anything But A Card (brand new lace!) ...

The fakes!

I got to work thinking about what kit components I could fake.  In addition to patterned papers I thought I might have a go at making my own paperclips... As always I started with a list and some sketches!  And then gathered the bits I would need.   used the wire from spiral bound note books that were finished.  I found it quite hard to manipulate the wire with out having things to bend it around.  I also found that cut ends needed to be sanded - I learnt that the hard way - ouch! WARNING: After giving myself a manicure I carried on with the paper fakes.  These are the patterned papers in the original kit I thought I could forge the pink ombre chevrons, the big polka dots, the yellow stripes (from the add on) and I was determined to try something with the 'round sided diamond shape' - not really sure what to call that!! I had four wooden 'round sided diamond shapes' which I glued to an acrylic stamp block with temporary adhesi...

Advent - Day 2

It's day two of our Advent countdown at Crafty Ribbons Inspirations .  Today I have a wreath to share... I started off with some wire from my jewellery making box... and manipulated it in to a heart shape.  I've used all the off cuts that I have kept through out the year.  (My off cuts pile is still huge... never mind!)  And a few bits from a scrap bag. I simply tied the scraps around the wire.  I kept squidging them together, adding more on until there was absolutely no free space left on the wire.  At this stage I decided that the heart shape was not showing through well enough so I manipulated the wire in to a circle instead. I added a length of my beloved 3mm for hanging et voila! Sharing at Tokbobok Thanks for stopping by :)
