Tea Wisdom

Hi there, I'm back with project number two from my May Glittery Hands Box box. I’ve combined the other half of the tag book and the envelopes along with some of the gorgeous patterned papers for this little album.  (The other half, I hear you say? Yes, check out the other little project here! ) I stuck three tags together to make a firmer base to hold the envelopes.  I want this to be something you can fiddle with without worrying about damaging it, I’m not after delicacy.   I decorated the envelopes with cups and cakes cut from the patterned paper Emma designed. I printed off some wisdomous quotes about tea that I found on Pinterest and stuck them on paper cut to fit inside the envelopes.  You could also hand write notes specific to the recipient. I am going to add some Bible references to the other side of these little inserts before I gift this to a friend. As I had already used the ring to bind my flick book I bound

Cookie Cutter Whimsy

Here is my first project with May's Glittery Hands Box. Obviously, the glitter mix is quite high on the list of ‘I NEED to play with this first’ that forms when you first look through the kit.  Also vying for top spot this month is the cookie cutter. I combined the two for this little whimsy trinket. The kit contained a couple of 3D stickers – I borrowed the acetate backing that they were attached to and stick it to the back of the cookie cutter.  I used matte accents for this as I was awaiting a new bottle of glossy accents. Any strong clear glue would do the trick. Once that was fully dry I trimmed the excess acetate from around the edges.   I used an anti-static bag around the cookie cutter to help reduce the glitter sticking where I didn’t want it.  My new bottle of glossy accents had arrived by now so I flooded the inside with a layer just less than 2mm thick and popped a layer of glitter on top.  It’s quite important to let this dry fully before carrying

Noted

This layout was based on a challenge to use your favourite colour and it's complimentary colour. My favourite colour is green and I had quite a few limey shades.  The opposite is a violet-magenta colour which featured in April's Glittery Hands Box sequin mix. Sadly I am not allowed to play scrabble any more... H-Bird is such a hooligan! Just a few more from my NSD marathon to share now...

Hairclip Holder

I've recently had a haircut and I am, apparently, unable to buy just two of something... I must have every colour !  So I needed a way to store these new accessories. I pulled out some Swiss Dots ribbons in colours to match the Spring Ribbons Poppies and set to work. I used two barbeque skewers to give the Poppy ribbon some stability and hung lengths of grosgrain between them.  A few stitches here and there to secure things was all it took.  I added some 3mm grosgrain to hang the holder and added a couple of mini bows as a finishing touch. Thanks for stopping by!

Just Not Very Good

This layout was made with an old and new theme, we were then asked to throw in a bit of gold too. I've used a new stencil from Skull and Cross Buns and some old die cut frames. My touches of gold come in the form of a label and a foiled banner.  I really enjoyed making this one even if the photo is a little bit cringey!

These Fingers

This layout uses an old sheet of black and white paper from My Minds Eye.  I bought it to colour in, which I did, and it then sat unused for a couple of years! It was inspired by a challenge from the Cut Shoppe to back a cut file.  I also fussy cut a few of the flowers and popped them in behind my photo. The labels are from Freckled Fawn and are another thing that have been in my stash for ages.  It feels good to get some of them used up.

Hearts

This is another 'quick-use-the-cocoa-vanilla-supplies-to-make-space-for-more' layout! I'm sure this was for an NSD challenge too but I can't remember which one! Thanks for looking!

School Pic!

Cocoa Vanilla have a new release coming soon and that means I am making an effort to use up more of what I have to make space for the new goodies! This one uses a few pieces from More Than Words and papers from 6x6 pads.  Check out that old school photo!! The cut file is from Just Nick.  I left some of the negatives in place and only backed selected spots.  When I added it to my base layer I used a load of foam pads to give dimension and cause those gorgeous cast shadows.

Glittery Hands Manicure

This is going to become a monthly thing... the glitter pot in my Glittery Hands Box just screams at me to be used on my nails! This month is a beautiful blue mix with a touch of turquoise, silver and plenty of iridescent shine. I tried an intricate design on my thumb with each flake of glitter placed to make a pattern.  It didn't work - but no worries - I just dipped my entire nail in the pot and will try again next month!  I learnt a few things in the process. 1 - don't attempt designs when you have the shakes. 2 - do it on your non dominant hand!  We'll see if I remember that next month! Now I am off to play with my new kit!

Yellow!

Here is anther of my NSD layouts.  This one was for a couple of challenges... SpiegelMom Scraps said to put a ring on it so I drew circles around my sequins and used ribbon to make ring around my photo.  It also fit a tic tac toe board which asked us to use yellow, ink and ribbon.  I love the Swiss Dot Ribbon range from Crafty Ribbons. That gorgeous falling hearts stamp is from Concord and 9th. I love the detail of pen on layouts but it something I rarely do.  I think I'm hesitant in case I make a mistake! And my love affair with copper paper clips has now reached the stage where I feel able to use them rather than just hoard them!! Be back soon with more!

Stick It Down for May

I've recovered mostly from labyrinthitis now (but hurt my back!  D'oh!) so it really is time to catch up with blogging... Here is my take on Stick It Down 's May sketch. The sketch was made very much with mixed media in mind and that is the route I took.  It also looks fab made up with sections of patterned papers - I reckon this sketch will work with most styles.  I've used black and white and supplies from Freckled Fawn and Feed My Craft.  I hope you can find time to squeeze in this sketch and share it over at Stick It Down .  There is a Freckled Fawn prize up for grabs! Oh, I almost forgot... here's the process video!

NSD Be Cray!

I have been using all my energy on NSD (National Scrapbooking Day) for the last couple of weeks.  Sourcing prizes and sponsors, making graphics and samples, drafting posts and brainstorming.  I'm knackered! Any way, what I mean to say is I have quite a lot of creations I haven't yet shared so get ready for a slew of posts! Today I am on the Glittery Hands Box blog with this layout... Please pop over and hae a look.  While you are there check out the previous post which is also one of my creations... I've loved the first kit of my DT term.  Right now I'm counting down the days to the next box!
