Ribbon Note Book

Here is a happy ribbon-y note book I made...     I used the brighter colours of the Candy Saddle Stitch , some 3mm grosgrain and some alphabet buttons  to decorate the front of a blank note book.    My edges weren't clean enough for my liking so I added a scalloped glitter edge to neaten it all up. Bound with 3mm's and a star button to finish it off.  I had such fun making this but got soo frustrated when I had to stop to let everything dry before I could carry on again!!  Such an impatient crafter!! Entering in to challenges4everybody - anything goes Crafters Cafe Blog - Friendship I gave the notebook to Bev as a gift of friendship Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes Thanks for stopping by, TTFN!

WOYWW 195

Hello Deskhoppers! (If you have no clue what I'm talking about you absolutely must go over to Julia's to find out and get addicted involved!) On my desk today is a little paper bag.  I found the instructions yesterday and immediately grabbed a sheet of scrap to try it out.  Then a smaller sheet.  And then an even smaller sheet!  Later I plan to try it in a larger size... It's my mates birthday today.  I like birthdays.  It's one day a year when I can spoil someone and hopefully make them feel special - because let's face it, everyone deserves to feel special.  It's not about the present (am I'm sounding old?!) but the fact that you remembered and cared enough to think about them and, in this case, make something for them.  So my mate is getting a bag with two little chocolates in... Don't you just love it when the ribbons in your stash match perfectly with papers?!  Freebie papers I might add, from scrapbook magazine.

Smile!!

Today I want to share with you a canvas I recently finished. First I just played around with some dark turquoise and navy acrylic paint.  I ended up using a brayer to give a textured finish.  As it is a stretched canvas brayering caught the wooden supports behind and left me with a frame like image. Then I ran with stars and smiles as my theme... I individually stuck on star sequins on the darker patches on my 'frame'.  They catch the light and twinkle - they make me smile! Then I ummed and ahhed for ages over what words to use.  I wanted something to do with smiling, something uplifting, something happy - because that was how I was feeling - but it also needed to be quite short and not too wordy.  I settled on 'Share Your Smile' I painted up some chipboard letters using them same turquoise and navy and dry brushed some white gesso over the top. I love the effect of the stars and have plans to do another canvas covered in s

Pastel Mini Album - Part II

Now I've gone a bit crazy with the photos so I'm splitting this post in to two parts so I can share all the details with you...  You can find Part I here ... When I saw Ali 's new ribbon was sewing themed I knew I wanted to use it with these photos.   I've used ribbons from Crafty Ribbons, Martha Stewart tabs, DoCrafts letter rub-ons, a white gel pan and appeture tags from my stash.   I'm so pleased with this album.  I love it when a project works in real life how it works in my head!     Thanks for stopping by!

Pencil Button Bracelet!!

Now you know by now that I am easily excited... Look!!  Pencils as a bracelet!!  :)  :) Super simple but I love it.  I used 30 pencil buttons and a couple of lengths of beading elastic.  I get my elastic from the Brighton Bead Shop but I reckon you could just use shearing elastic from the haberdashers for this.     I simply threaded the buttons on to the elastic and tied a knot.  I love the outcome and I don't think I am capable of wearing it without smiling!       This is for Crafty Ribbons Challenge 39 - Button Up! - Come on over and join us!! Thanks for stopping by!

WOYWW & Pastel Coloured Mini Album - Part I

Not technically a desk photo but this is what I have been up to on my desk... and the photos were taken on a tidy part of desk. So pleased with this!  I have had these photos for ages and wanted to make something fabulous with them but was never quite sure what!  Ali has featured it today as a Hello Wednesday too! When I saw Ali 's new ribbon was sewing themed  I knew I wanted to use it with these photos.         Now I've gone a bit crazy with the photos so I'm splitting this post in to two parts so I can share all the details with you...       I've used ribbons from Crafty Ribbons, Martha Stewart tabs, DoCrafts letter rub-ons, a white gel pan and aperture tags from my stash.           Do pop back tomorrow to see part II... and make sure you go to Julia's to nose around 100's of desks!  (Sorry if this post was a bit long Julia!)
