WOYWW 156 - The BIG One!

...Ooh it's exciting! Happy Birthday WOYWW ! Every birthday needs a cake!  Here is Humpty Dumpty from my third birthday!!  (How awesome is my Mum?!) No pics of my desk this week as I am not near it.  I do however have my ATC's, envelopes and stamps at the ready. I have been having some R&R in the sun and my recent crafting amounts to flipping through a scrap magazine and thinking about my lovely stash.  I won't be around next week but after that I should have some actual desk related pictures to share.  I just couldn't bear to miss out on the anniversary swap!! Happy Wednesday everybody, thanks for stopping by...

Lilac Flutterby

My friend bought me a greetings card by a local artist back from his travels. I took inspiration from her awesome butterfly artwork and came up with this.   I used string, thread, modelling gel, lava beads, glass beads, carvable modelling paste, silver paint and a mixture of purple and white acrylic paints.

Engagement Card

I can tell you I loved having to make this... such a lovely couple!  I used a Craftwork Cards blank. Hand dyed some seam binding and lace with some homemade mica spray.  (I just mix some acrylic paint, water and mica in a mister bottle - easy to get the colour you want when you are doing the mixing!) A congrats peel off. Stamped engagement on the front of the card in silver ink. I glittered around the misted heart in Stickles Frosted Lace. I graded the front of the card so the bottom was more coloured than the top. I'd like to enter this card in to the Moving Along With The Times Challenge whose theme this week is Celebration but not Birthdays! Bearly Mine - Anything Goes Creative Inspirations - Anything Goes Thanks for stopping by!

WOYWW 155

Sorry Chaps.  No work at the desk today.  The Budgie and I sat outside after my physio session and relaxed in the sun. The facts are:  I haven't finished the curtain... or the beaded union flag... or the beaded Snoopy... but it's just too sunny for me to be bothered! I will be looking around your desks though via Julia's . Thanks for stopping by! EDIT: How am I supposed to leave comments on lovely peoples desks when you sit there?!?!

Balloons!!

It is my friend's 30th.  I don't know if she is going to be enjoy turning 30 or if she is going to freak out.  I wanted to make a card that would be OK for both situations. 30 balloons - one for each year or a birthday card with some balloons I punched out the balloons from random scraps of coloured paper.  Drew the strings with a fine liner.  Glued the balloons at the top of the strings.  Very taxing!!  ;) I'm entering this in to CAS-ual Fridays  challenge - punchy.

3 Flutterbys on a Card

This is what came from today's playtime... It is a combination of three challenges... CASE Study - Take inspiration from Aga's fab card.  (3 butterflies, green, lace, sentiment banner) CAS-ual Fridays - Punchy (I punched out the butterflies, I left lots of white space and kept it clean and simple) Cute Card Thursday - Touch of sparkle (I blinged up the butterflies! ...and I think butterflies are cute, does that count??!) I inked the edges of the card and the sentiment banner. The lace is from Crafty Ribbons (who, by the way, are running a Best of British fortnight with loads of giveaways) I'm quite pleased with today.  A fun time crafting and then a snooze while the glue dried!  :) Thanks for stopping by...

WOYWW 154

I'm a little late with my post... I'm going to be way down the desk list... but better late than never.  Here is the link to Julia's for you to join in and show off your desk... On my desk this week (no budgie, sorry folks!  She got far to big-headed with all of your lovely comments last week!  She now thinks it is her desk and her blog!) I've been playing with the sewing machine, and killing pins... They got revenge so don't feel too sorry for them. A pile of nearly finished curtain and a box of buttons to adorn said curtain. And because it is genetically impossible for me to only have one project on the go at a time I'm also looming a union jack.  Hopefully it will end up ATC size... Short and sweet this week, I'm off to gawp at your desk now!  :)

That's Handy

I sketched this hand a couple of years back. It is my friend's hand.  I took a photo (rather than make him sit still holding his hand out!) and worked from the photo. The straight lines you might see around the edges are bleed lines.  It was used as a background with a Bible verse over the top.

Marbled Nails

I saw this technique of water marbling nail varnish on youtube . I had to have a go! Pink and purples for my first attempt.  I redid two or three nails as I misplaced my nail the first time and got a naf bit of pattern!  Because it is a really thin layer of polish it dried instantly and lasted ages. Peach and coral for my second try.  Again I redid a coupe of nails.  Then added a little sequin. It seems to work best for me with Barry M nail varnishes.  I tried to mix brands (pink from 17 and violet from No. 7) and it just didn't work.  And I had to change the water a few times - the nail varnish didn't spread across the surface of 'dirty' used water. Good fun. (Linking to Inspire Me Fridays !)

White With 1 Layout

This months challenge at White with 1 is white and cream with chipboard. I embossed some chipboard butterflies with white and 'cream pearl' embossing powders.  The cream turned out rather more silver than cream but hey ho! I sprinkled a little of the contrast coloured powder along the edge of the wings for a slightly different look.  I liked this effect and will be playing with this idea again. I covered the third butterfly with a layer of clear embossing powder and glitter. Added some 'frosted lace' glitter randomly on the 12 x 12.  I used a few layers of white and cream cardstock.  I curled an edge, added a few mini paper clips. Over the scalloped shape (Papermania Capsule Collection = Yum!) a stuck a strip of double sided sticky stuff and covered it with two different white and iridescent glitters. A few lengths of lace stapled on.  And finally a spot of journalling. No title but I

WOYWW 153

Hello All!   Welcome to What's On Your Worktop Wednesday . Billy checking out 'her' new toy. Yes, I am now one of the club.  I told the lovely Julia (by the way Julia, thank you very, very much) that I was feeling left out because I couldn't play hide the badge like you guys! Yesterday was spent tidying.  If you've been here before you will know that I am not very good at tidying.  I get bored of tidying and want to play.  But I persevered and it is nearly tidied off completely ready for the sewing machine to come out to play.  One thing that made me chuckle... I moved my glass cutting mat to wipe the whole surface of the desk and... ...look at all that stuff hiding underneath!  Loads of it and I didn't have a clue.  A few jigsaw puzzle pieces for a future scrap book page, beading wire, used postage stamps, union jack stickers, a heart stencil and some bunting triangles. What a random mix!!  Next time I lose something I know
