ScrapTubeUK | Fresh Starts

I'm part of a little scrappy YouTube hop today with this project. The theme was new beginnings and the challenge was to use something out of your comfort zone. I've gone for a scraptherapy style 6x8 spread featuring a caterpillar and lots of (shock horror) pink! I don't like pink - not sure if I've ever mentioned that!  I do love caterpillars and butterflies and the concept of mushing down to nothing and re-emerging as a beautiful delicate being that flutters so gracefully. The majority of  the supplies are from the latest Lollipop Box Club kit called Alice's Tea Party. Here's the video... And you can check out my fellow creators videos here: Nicola Richards (Nicky Nack's Papercrafts) https://youtu.be/UmFZ27fvt6s Niki Rowland https://youtu.be/PEs2p--VZRU Ellen Rack (EllenOscar Journals) https://youtu.be/3iiFYCoZpAk Samantha Adams (My Messy Desk) https://youtu.be/R4OCUwRTUo4

Upcycling Yeo Valley Packaging!

SpiegelMom Scraps are focusing on flowers and upcycling this month.  I saved some cardboard packaging from some youghurts and fussy cut out all the pretties. It turned in to one of my favourite makes - who needs to spend loads on supplies? I added some sewing details with my machine. And, of course, lots of sequins. I searched through to find sequins that matched the packaging adding yellows, purples, greens and flower shapes. I added alpha tiles from Pretty Little Studio - they are the perfect size! Thanks for stopping by!

Ribbon Embroidery meets Scrapbooking - take 1!

There seems to be a real trend for ribbon embroidered flowers at the moment.  I have no experience in this but thouoght I'd try to combine it with my love of scrapbooking.  In hindsight I should have learnt the art of ribbon embroidery first before attempting to do it on cardstock and over a photo.  Hindsight is a wonderful thing! Any how it turned out OK in the end.  The photo is of blooms way past their best so I added some brown watercolour to my silk ribbon flowers to make it look like they had turned too. You can find some ribbon embroidery kits from Crafty Ribbons (with good clear instructions) here and a huge stash of silk ribbons here .  I have used pieces from a scrap bag which is a great way to get started. Despite the trickyness and frustration it is safe to say I will be trying this again.  I'll be stocking up on silk ribbon too, as they are lovely to work with! I added some spotty tissue paper and sequins too.  I do...

these three

This layout was made with various challenges in mind.  On Facebook the FTLOPP theme is buttons, the HLM theme is chevrons, UK Scrap Addicts have a rainbow moodboard.  I've used the Lottie Loves Paper June kit and buttons from Crafty Ribbons.  Are they chevrons in the background?  Or zig zags?  And, in fact, what is the difference?! The tiny flowers were cut from the Pebbles Tealightfil 6x6 paper pad.  They were a tiny flourish in a tea cup but the perfect size to layer behind my weakest button. I love how this has turned out.  I'm half tempted to pop it in a box frame with a whole bunch of loose iridescent sequins at the bottom. Kinda of a play on heart strings? Thanks for stopping by!

Aubretia

SpiegelMom Scraps are having an Instagram party with Wild Whisper throughout the NSD weekend.  There will be a new challenge released every 4-5 hours. The first challenge is to repeat the dominant colour in your photo with inks and sequins... So I have gone all out purple!  I love it! These flowers are just beautiful in colour and form and it was so fun to create inspired by them. I've used sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps including some from the following mixes: Sweat Pea, A Mermaid's Tale, Summer Paradise . and Shimmerz in: Don't Be a Pansy Paste-eez, I Lilac You Dazzlerz , Grapetastic Dazzlerz . Here is the process video...

Light Up Flowers!

I recently got some new toys - namely some tiny LED stickers and copper tape from Chibitronics.  During my first session playing with them, I knew I wanted to try and light up some sequins... I cut a few flowers on my Silhouette Cameo and backed them with vellum.  I backed the negative of the flower with patterned paper.  I lay down my copper tape and LED stickers over the patterned paper.  When I offset the flowers slightly I managed to cover the majority of the copper tape and keep the nice aesthetic. I went for a multi-font title.  The pink and yellow would be too much for the whole sentence and I wanted my photo and the lights to remain the focus of the layout. I placed my battery behind the P of pick and when pressed all three of the flowers light up... I've used Moonshine Delight and Holiday Traditions for my sparkle.  I specifically picked Moonshine as it picked up the light beneath and magnified it. Here is the video... T...

Savoury Scone Tea

Hey there, today's layout is for Stick It Down .  This months sketch is by me... And here is my take: I've mainly used the like for ever August kit.  I've added a glassine bag and some cork confetti from SpiegelMom Scraps .  (As always Laura15 gets you a little discount at SpiegelMom Scraps.) Most of the die cuts are from Cocoa Vanilla Studios... I seem to document a lot of afternoon teas... I eat vegetables too, honest! That cake was custard cream flavour... oh boy!! There was quite a lot of splatters at the end.  One splat-let spread out and went all fuzzy so I covered it up with a sequin - there is no mistake in scrapping that can't be covered up! Here is the video: Be sure to link up over at Stick It Down if you use the sketch this month!

I {heart} ICE CREAM

Well, I could have done with one of these yesterday!  It was a scorcher! Made using my like for ever kit Carefree and some banner pieces from a honeycomb tissue paper bunting kit. Rather fond of the layout... but then I am rather fond of the subject matter too! Stay cool folks!

My Girl

Hi Guys, I'm sharing a DT layout for SpiegelMom Scraps featuring the gorgeous Glass Slipper sequin mix.  The patterned papers and cut files are from the wonderful Cocoa Vanilla Studios. To be honest the cut files are so gorgeous it doesn't take much to make a lovely layout with them!  Without doubt Zoe Pearn is my favourite designer. I went for the layered approach and backed some of the apertures with patterned papers.  I added a few foam adhesive squares to pop up some leaves and flowers. I then went through and stuck some Glass Slipper sequins down and added a few Moonshine Delight too.  I tried to place them on all the different levels of die cuts.  This mix of sequins really catch the light and having a bit of sparkle on all the different levels accentuates the dimension of the layout. If you are feeling the need to add some Glass Slippers from SpiegelMom Scraps to your stash use the code Laura15 for a little discount....

April Releases

Hi and welcome to the April new releases blog hop for SpiegelMom Scraps .  You've probably arrived via Katty (check out her youtube channel too!) I have made a tag for today featuring the beautiful new Lilac Twinkle sequin mix.  I was very excited to discover it had beads included in the mix too! I took a plain shipping tag , a few cuts from my silhouette (the flowers are from our recent team up with Jen Schow ) and a variety of Shimmerz products .  (We have just expanded our range of Shimmerz products!)  I spread some matte medium over the tag and scattered the sequins and beads - you may have to shift a few sequins over making sure that they get good contact with the glue.  Don't forget to use the code Laura15 if you make a purchase from SpiegelMom Scraps ! To finish off my tag I took a length of white lace from Crafty Ribbons and dyed it with the same shimmerz colours I had used on my leaf cuts. I'm the last stop on today's hop - than...

Friday Smiles

This weeks smiles come courtesy of a bunch of daffodils.  Sat beside the vase in a quiet room you can hear the petals pop and tear their way out of the outer papery sheath.  Wonder-full! Linking at Annie's  Friday Smiles
