Perfect Blashford Lakes

Just dropping in quickly to share a layout I made last week for like for ever's subscriber challenge... All of the supplies are from Cocoa Vanilla Studios bought via like for ever apart from the doily ( SpiegelMom Scraps ) and thread (stash) I just adore the orangey-peachy colour in this collection. So much so that I trimmed out the over-print of the sticker sheet to use as extras! My health is not great at the moment - concentration is... well, scarce!  I am sorry if I owe you some comments/blog visits - I aim to be back commenting and functioning again as soon as possible x

Just For Fun!

I'm up on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog today :D This little series of cards started as a midnight note scrawled on my phone... because we've all had an idea strike just as we are nodding off! When I was a kid I had a doodle that I repeated, a little fuzzy character and here he is, along with his friends, recreated in sequin form. I gathered my supplies; a circle template, pencil, scissors and scrap of card; glue; Mirror Mirror confetti sequins ; googly eyes! And here he is!  A simple watercoloured background and my sequinned friend stuck on top.  Arms ad legs added with a permanent pen. And he has a fiancée!  I added half a cupped sequin behind her googly eyes, and a green felt heart to finish the card. Then they had a baby boy... or was it a girl?  Such fun! Thanks for stopping by today - go and make something fun!

Friday Smiles

This weeks smiles are courtesy of Dewent Coloursoft pencils...  They are sitting on my shelf in a glass pot looking all pretty and colourful and boy are they calling my name! Linking up at Friday Smiles :)

Green Heart

So after wearing my green heart (read about that here and here ) I knew I wanted to add it to a layout. And I was obviously feeling really green!  I do love the colour green and find it fun to use but, as you know, I like a good dose of white with any colour I use.  This one has a maximum of half a dose of white!!   I used Spun Sugar Shimmerz Dazzlerz texture paste through a stencil in the backgound and scribbling with a white Posca paint pen.  I used vellum - a sort-of shade of white - along with glassine bag (another white) and doily (yet another shade of white) layers.  I used white, silver and green 3mm ribbon .  And the silver bugle beads are practically white too... (they aren't.  They are definitely silver.) I decided to be brave and journal straight to the vellum.  Mistake.  The paint pen did a little wee and I was left with a puddle instead of an 'a' - I blotted and made the best of it, but, sigh! Looking at my style/trend I would say I am

Snoopy!

Hi Guys!  Today I am sharing this little bookmark... It is really simple to make.  Take one length of ribbon mine is rounghly 10cm.  Turn the raw edges under so there is no fraying.  Add two pieces of magnetic tape, one at each end on the reverse side of the ribbon.  That's it! The ribbon folds over a page in your book, or in this case my planner, and you have your page marked. I've used Snoopy ribbon which you can find here!

Confetti Hearts

In last month's like for ever kit there was a huge tub of heart confetti from Pebbles.  I loved it and could see myself making shaker pockets, using them as I would sequins and enamel dots and then this idea popped in to my head... Stringing lots of hearts together and using them as bunting, perfect.  I only put the needle in my thumb twice - for me this is a vast improvement! I gave one of the wood veneers from the kit a coat of pink acrylic paint, a coat of melon Gelato, a coat of Shimmerz Dazzlerz in spun sugar.  I sanded it down a little and decided that was the best colour match I was going to get. I poked holes in to my watercolour paper background and strung my lines of bunting.  Then I watered down the melon gelato and added a generous helping of splatters. I knew my photo needed layers but I kept them subtle and narrow, and included vellum to keep them 'soft' so the main focus besides the photo itself would be the hearts. And I can tell yo

I've Got Sunshine

A few months back I spotted a .jpeg in the facebook group Faith, Hope, Washi .  One that made me smile and instantly inspired me.  It was made by the very talented Jen Schow - her 'script and uplift' videos on YouTube are amongst my favourites.  Anyway, I squirrelled away the image and pondered on how to incorporate it in to  something I could make.  Then last month fellow 'like for ever-er' Caroline Free posted about make cut files in to stitching patterns ... bingo!  This would be the perfect thing to do...  I checked with Jen and she graciously said I could use her image and this layout was born. The layout is quite simple, lots of white on white with just a pop of yellow to set it off.  The stitching was all done by hand and took quite a while, but I did notice as I went along I got faster - practice really does improve you! I collected up some white sequins from different SpiegelMom Scraps mixes - I used Fairytale mixes that are now sold out but

Friday Smiles

This weeks smiles come courtesy of a bunch of daffodils.  Sat beside the vase in a quiet room you can hear the petals pop and tear their way out of the outer papery sheath.  Wonder-full! Linking at Annie's  Friday Smiles

JUMP IN THE PUDDLES

It is challenge day over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges and I was in charge of picking the theme!  As it is a leap year I chose 'LEAP' so projects entered this week must include ribbon and something that leaps or jumps.  Think rabbits, frogs, kangaroos, gymnastics, jumping in puddles... I made an art journal page using the wonderful wellington boots ribbon. Lots of gesso, inks and sprays, matte medium, writing on each layer with a plain ol' biro.  I love how the ink of the biro finds it's way through the layers. I went for blues, teals and drips to give the rainy effect. With quite a good message for me - you know what I'm usually like with words! I've also uploaded a video of my process so you can see how it all came together... Thanks for stopping by!

A-Z - F is for Foliose

This fortnights letter is F - not a problem, plenty of nature themed F words BUT the page must include a heart... that'll take more thought.  I don't want to do a page about a fox and pop a heart on it - that won't work for me.  So this is what I came up with... Foliose means leaf like and some leaves are heart shaped, especially the Indian Bean tree leaves! Also I used a pencil called Beech Green to colour the beech leaf - I can't tell you the amount of satisfaction that gave me!! What do you think?  Was I too fast and loose with the theme?! Linking up at The Craft Barn A-Z . p.s.  Thanks for the tips on brown pens last week, much appreciated!  Trying a few suggestions - I'll have my results ready for the next A-Z post...

#showthelove

For Valentine's I have made a green heart.  You can read all about the campaign here . I just gathered a few bits'n'bobs, popped the telly on and played! I used these supplies; Pegs , Felt Hearts , Love Beats sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps .  3mm grosgrain in light silver and forest , bling edge satin 3mm from Crafty Ribbons .

Love Is All You Need

Another from this months like for ever kit.  (And two in a row not on a white background!!) I picked up some empty tea bags... I think they are meant to be for making your own blend of tea but I'll be using them to add confetti and sequins and little bits'n'bobs to my layouts! The wood veneer tag had a coat of tombow multi and when it was dry I added some metal leaf.  I love the way it has turned out. All the tags had a little piece of 3mm grosgrain threaded through them. And that wonderful gold heart vellum pulling it all together.  Lovely lovely vellum!! I think if I am honest it took a while to get in this kit as there is a lot of pink and was afraid to use it with 'boy pictures' - but this works.  It's all about balancing it, that's the key.  We know what the next kit/supplies are and it has a fair amount of pink too, but somehow I don't think I'll struggle so much... Thanks for stopping by

just the 2 of you

Well, it took a while for me to get in to this months like for ever kit, but now I'm in, there is no stopping me! This one is the first time I've used origami on a layout and I love the outcome! Here is a video tutorial for making your own butterflies! I've added some Heidi Swapp gold glitter stickers and some Spiegel Mom Scraps gold sequins to the kit contents. (Add Laura15 to the checkout at SpiegelMom Scraps to get a 15% discount) Could not be happier... stand by for more soon! p.s. Crafty Ribbons have just released some super cute new ribbon designs... you can find them here .
