Sweets

I'm getting in to stamping a lot more recently.  I can see stamp sets and know what I want to do and I'm slowly getting the confidence up to attempt it.  This stamp set from Skull and Cross Buns called Retro Sweeties gave me loads of ideas.  I have a particular idea for a scrapbook layout along these lines so tried a test panel of stamping and masking. It was time consuming but fairly simple.  I cut through multiple post it notes at once to make masks and shifted them around as needed. I then played with my watercolours, glossy accents, matte accents and chunky glitter to colour and accessorise the sweeties.  I'm not sure... half of me liked it best uncoloured. And although it was just a test panel it turned out so well that I made it into a card.  I popped up either side on foam so the sweeties are in a sunken channel. Now I have plans to super size and do this for a layout.  It won't be just yet though as I've just had some new stamps throug

Sparkly Lollies

Love a bit of frivolity? This creation with August's Glittery Hands Box should suit you then!  Very sparkly, very positive and very fun. What else do you do with glittery felt, a cute positive sentiment stamp and glittery cardstock?! Thanks for looking!

Hythe Beach

Here is the second of my layouts for StickerKitten using Mermaid Treasures .  This one uses the negatives from the digital die cut I used in the last layout . I used a few mists from Shimmerz for the background.  There was lots of splattering and a little bit of the packaging technique. For the layering behind the photos I used the 6x6 papers from the collection.  There are 2 packs of paper to choose from. And to finish I added some sequins - also part of the collection - which perfectly coordinate. Thanks for looking!

Sea Side

Oh my goodness, the new StickerKitten collection is SO awesome! It's full of cute sea creatures and mermaids and all in the most delicious colours. With this collection there is also a digital cut file .  Of course, I cut it straight away in multiple sizes!  I used a full 12x12 for this layout and saved the negatives for another layout. I'll admit I'm swinging wildly about which creature is my favourite.  Every time I think I settle on the seahorse I see the little jellyfish smiling at me, and then there is the turtle. I've taken to adding a dot of glossy accents to the eyes of the creatures to bring them to life. Keep an eye out over the next month or so as I will be sharing lots of makes with this collection. Here's the process video:

Stamping...

I'm still loving playing with my distress oxide inks.  I wanted to have a go at ombre stamping so I pulled out a background made with the Decreasing Circles stencil from Skull and Cross Buns ... The Quirky Sentiments stamp set seemed a good set to experiment with - I choose the Happy Birthday stamp.  I was so happy with how the experimenting turned out that it made it on to a card.  My stamping has improved so much now I have a MISTI, and it allows me to play with many more techniques. I added a tie of thread and a few sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps and mounted it on a pink card.

Disco Paintbrush Pot

This month's Glittery Hands Box is disco themed and we all know the main part of a disco is the disco ball! Included in the box is a pack of mirror mosaic tiles perfect for turning just about anything into a 'disco ball'! I use an old glass herb jar as a paintbrush holder for my littlest brushes.  They always seem to get lost amongst the big brushes... It was very plain but that is easy to remedy... I added a few drips of acrylic ink around the base and covered the regularly shaped sections with the mirror tiles. I don't know if this would stamp being washed but as I use it for dry brushes I don't see it as an issue. Woody is currently having a disco on my desk boogieing around the pot to cheesy music! Thanks for stopping by!

White With 1 - Sunshine!

I'm combining prompts from For The Love Of Pretty Paper 's Summer Fiesta (make a tassel and use yellow), a sketch from SpiegelMom Scraps (by the very talented Suzanna) and this month's White With 1 challenge (Sunny Yellow and White) for today's layout... I tweaked the sketch by switching the square for a circle. I turned that cir cle into a giant shaker sunshine full of yellow sequins from SpiegelMom's. I 'fringed' (that can't be the correct wording!) some yellow cardstock and rolled it up to form a tassel.  I bound the top with some thread.  I'm not generally a huge fan of tassels but I can tell you they are very easy to make... I may have to use a few more! Thanks for looking!

Hot Air Balloons for Muse

I loved this week's Muse card.  I've gone rainbow coloured for my take... The stamps are from StickerKitten and are part of the Unicorn Fairground set.  Seriously I could use this balloon for every project at the moment - definitely a favourite! I strayed from my usual yellow (squeezed lemonade to fossilised amber) and was amazed to see how much of a difference it made to the rest of the colours. Playing around with different blues doesn't seem to make much difference.  Linking up at Muse .
