Wonderful You

I've been scrapping in fits and starts recently, and blogging has been a bit hit and miss (or miss and miss!)  I had taken on more than my body could cope with.  Hopefully I have (or am in the process of) gaining control again. This one is for Crafty Ribbons .  I started out wanting to use my new Distress Oxide ink pad.  I pulled out a stamp and some watercolour paper and had a good play! I liked the results so I gathered some supplies to match the background - a few papers, some stickers and sequins , bits and bobs from the June Lottie Loves Paper kit and ribbon. Nothing made it on to the layout if it wasn't white or mint. I sat my title on a ruffle of white organza ribbon - it adds such fab texture and height to the page. I also added some Swiss Dot grosgrain and a little heart tab made from the exclusive Wedding Owls ribbon. Thanks for looking!

Shaker Cassette Tutorial

The reaction to my shaker cassette has been amazing, thank you so much! As promised here is a downloadable .png and a tutorial so you can make your own... My sequins are, of course, from SpiegelMom Scraps - if you use Laura15 at checkout you'll receive a 15% discount. In terms of the rest of the materials use the cardstock you are most comfortable with and some acetate.  For this I prefer a sheet of acetate rather than some recycled packaging for the greater strength it gives. The tutorial section of the video starts at 1.44 - it's best to watch but I will briefly cover the steps here... 1. Cut out your pieces from coloured cardstock and acetate.  You will also need double sided foam adhesive, wet glue, tape runner and sequins. 2. Adhere the front of the cassette and the first piece of acetate with wet glue. 3. Add thin strips of double sided foam tape around the edge.  This will hold the sequins in so don't leave any gaps! 4. Use the central off

Let's Get Ready To Rumble

Remember these cheeky chappies? I was a fan... but not of Let's Get Ready To Rumble!  It was a lyric that was shouted at my frequently!! I've put my shaker cassette to good use. And kept the rest of the layout clean and simple. Sequins and Shimmerz Paste-eez (used in the background) from SpiegelMom Scraps !

Home Grown

For my second guest designer layout for Lottie Loves Paper I took inspiration from Scrap Our Stash .  I went for the left hand coloumn of their tic-tac-toe board - red, camera and wood. The layout mainly uses Tealightful from Pebbles with a little Pink Paislee Oh My Heart.  I've also added in some rose gold SpiegelMom Scraps sequins to match the foiled chipboard from Paige Evans.  The layout documents my strawberry plant... it's not a good cropper!  I think we only keep it for amusement value!! I have a couple more layouts to come from this 'little' kit so stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down

I usually love working with sketches.  This one... not so much!  I must have a word with the designer... ;) I soldiered on though and on the fourth attempt this happened. I switched the ombre splodges on the sketch for sequins all picked out from my SpiegelMom Scraps stash.  I've stuck them down with mini glue dots from allthingssticky.co.uk My cluster is made up of bits and bobs.  Some patterned paper, a swatch of paint, scribble circle cut files, tissue paper and a tag. I edged the scalloped border cut file, tag and ribbon with a neon yellow pen for a little pop of contrasting colour. I abandoned the strip down the left and went for a line of mixed media work.  I used my Graphikliners from Derwent - they are good for messy scribbles and splotches.  To quote a friend 'I love their incontinence!' And in the end, I'm quite pleased with it!  Join us over at Stick It Down with your take on this terrible sketch, haha!!

Whispers - 2

I took part in a round of Chinese Whispers (Scrapbook Style) over in the Mind The Scrap facebook group.  You can see my first layout here . For this layout I was scraplifting the lovely Claire.  I switched up the colours (no pink for me!) but other than that stayed pretty true to Claire's version.  I loved what she had done. Most of the supplies are from an old Lottie Loves Paper kit, with the mixed media stuff from my stash. It makes a change for me to work on black.  I love the effect, it really pops. I coloured up some SpiegelMom Scraps cork stars with ink and gesso and dotted them around the page. I find puffy stickers hard to use.  I'll whisper this... {I don't really think I like them}  Are we still friends?! Here is the video... Thanks for stopping by

I'm on the UK Scrap Addicts blog today.  Here's a sneak... I hope you pop over for a looksee!

these three

This layout was made with various challenges in mind.  On Facebook the FTLOPP theme is buttons, the HLM theme is chevrons, UK Scrap Addicts have a rainbow moodboard.  I've used the Lottie Loves Paper June kit and buttons from Crafty Ribbons.  Are they chevrons in the background?  Or zig zags?  And, in fact, what is the difference?! The tiny flowers were cut from the Pebbles Tealightfil 6x6 paper pad.  They were a tiny flourish in a tea cup but the perfect size to layer behind my weakest button. I love how this has turned out.  I'm half tempted to pop it in a box frame with a whole bunch of loose iridescent sequins at the bottom. Kinda of a play on heart strings? Thanks for stopping by!

Triangles

I took part in a series of Chinese Whispers challenges with the Mind The Scrap Facebook group. This is my original: that was sent around the group of four for the other scrappers to lift. I based it on a sketch I made for like for ever in January. Here is the process: And some close ups:  Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designing for Lottie Loves Paper

I'm over the moon to reveal I am guest designer for Lottie Loves Paper this month.  I am a big champion of UK kit clubs, as you  know, so this was such an easy decision to make! Here is my first process video with a little kit share at the beginning. The kit is lovely and I had ideas right away.  I realise that I miss getting a monthly kit, and also that the way I create has changed again. I started by gathering mixed media in matching colours.  A couple are Mr Huey's and one is a shade I mixed from Liquitex Acrylic inks. Lots of matching thread tangles.  A snippet of lace from Crafty Ribbons. A super cute little bird die cut - I could use thhis over an over!! Thanks for stopping by!

The Story

Hi there, I'm here today to share a layout for Crafty Ribbons today... I've incorporated two sizes and colours of ric rac, some of my beloved 3mm satin ribbon (I use it on most projects!) and also some lace. You can find the ric rac here .  I've used candy pink and cerise.  The satin is Jade and the pretty thin lace is Chloe . The rest of the supplies are from an old like for ever kit, apart from the doily which is from SpiegelMom Scraps. Thanks for stopping by! p.s. not sure if I have mentioned on my blog yet.  Herbie had an accident and injured his leg beyond repair.  It's terribly lonely and quiet without him.  He had such a big character for a little bird.
