Stashbusting The Half made Projects - 1

I've started a new series on my YouTube channel.  When I was having a tidy up I lost count of the amount of half finished layouts I found.  The mission is to complete them... First up was a background with some mixed media on. I decided against it for the layout I was making at the time (months back) as it just wasn't working for me. I trimmed it down to 9x12 and started to get a better feeling it from it. The rest of the supplies were found in my tidy up... bits and bobs that were just floating around my desk without a home. It was easier to use them rather than find them a home! Here's the vid...

Rainbows and Matte Enamel Dots

Today's Pretty My Page project uses the leftovers from my first PMP project ...  I saved the rainbow negatives from my cutting mat and coloured them with some watercolour paints.  I arranged them in colour order and ran them through my sewing machine. I've added texture paste through the Rainbows stencil for subtle details on the background. I've added black shimmery splatters using Dylusions Shimmer Ink in Black Marble . And embellished with enamel dots - some regular and some with a matte finish.  I'll tell you now - you need these matte ones in your stash!  I've also used some foil leftovers from this project.  Never waste a thing if it's pretty! Here's the process video: Thanks for looking!

Penguins

I know it's only just Autumn but if you aim to make all your Christmas cards you really need to have started by now... there, that's my justification for sharing snowy cards in September! I bought this adorable penguin stamp from Skull and Cross Buns last year.  It's a 'proper' rubber stamp - wood mounted and good rubber.  That is my favourite kind of stamp.  I know clear stamps are easier to store and easier to use and there are so many more techniques that can be done with them... but for me, there's nothing like the feeling and finish of a good rubber stamp! I've used a selection of Distress Oxide inks for the stamping and ink blending on the card base.  I then fished out some puffy paint from a Glittery Hands Box - I forget which month's box - and added some snow. I haven't added any sentiments.  I may do before sending them but sometimes it's nice to have Christmas cards that aren't too cheery... I feel awkward sending a

Dream Big

Every StickerKitten collection comes with kraft and black patterned papers.  My initial reaction to them was 'I wonder if you can foil them?'  Well, the first try didn't work BUT it was because I used the wrong kind of foil.  Who knew there were different kinds of heat activated foil?!  The results were not the perfect teal fish on a kraft background that I was hoping for.  Whilst the fish were perfect the foil stuck to most of the background, too, but it was too good to throw away. I pulled out a sheet of teal 12x12 glitter cardstock to use as my background, my wrongly foiled paper and a few more of the kraft papers from Mermaid Treasures .  I based my layout on the latest sketch in the For The Love Of Pretty Paper facebook group. I used an acrylic piece from Skull and Cross Buns for my title. The wooden pieces from StickerKitten were coloured up with Liquitex ink.  I added details to them with mica powder and chunky glitter. Here's the process:

Gift Box

I love a project that starts as one thing and turns out as something completely different! Remember the layout I shared yesterday ?  These hearts are the negatives from the Pretty My Page cut file.  I had a play with them and some Distress Oxide inks.  I mopped up the excess ink with a sheet of cardstock. I ran the coloured hearts through the sewing machine to make a string of bunting. I glued the sheet of paper to a gift box blank and trimmed it out.  I added stamping with the Brush Hearts stamp set from Skull and Cross Buns. I used some of the coloured card as a gift tag, stamped a sentiment and strung it on some matching ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. You can watch the process here: I still have loads of the heart bunting left so I'll still get to make the layout I originally intended too!

Birthday Fishes

In 'Mermaid Treasures', the newest collection from StickerKitten , there are two stamp sets.  One has larger mermaid stamps and the other a variety of smaller sea creatures .  Amongst the second set are a few shoals of fish... I love them!  And I think they look really effective stamped en masse like this.  Of course, they look good in a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks - everything looks great in rainbow colour! I popped the sentiment up on a layer of black card, and popped that up from the card.  I'm using 1mm foam pads so it is still slim enough to go through the post without any trouble. All Of The Hearts

I love this cut file from Pretty My Page.  I set it to cut a little smaller that 12x12 so I had a nice chunky border around the edge. I've just got a Minc and some reactive mist and I want to use it on everything!  I sprayed over the die cut with another sheet underneath... you'll see that background soon too.  I wasn't aiming for full coverage - just a light misting.  Once the mist was dry I ran it through the Minc with some holographic foil. I then backed some of the hearts with Bella Boulevard 'Alex' papers.  I left some of the hearts un-backed as I love the shadow they cast.  I added foam squares to the reverse and popped it on to another white 12x12. I kept it simple as there was a lot going on (for me!) and only added a bulldog clip to my photo and embellished with the matching Bella Boulevard sticker sheet. I've also kept the hearts that came from this cut file so I am going to get three elements from one cut file. Thanks for looki

LLP Sketch Challenge

I'm guest designing for Lottie Loves Paper again... there is a brand new and exclusive sketch too! Here is the sketch I drew up... I've used Fancy Pants The Bright Side for my layout. It's a collection I picked up in the Lottie Loves Paper flash sales a while back and I'm really enjoying the colours and patterns. I've added in some tile alphas from Pretty Little Studio and some small Elle's studio alphas.  Of course a Laura layout isn't a Laura layout without some SpiegelMom Scraps sequins! Check in at the Lottie Loves Paper Community Group on Facebook to join in with the challenge - there is a prize up for grabs! Thanks for looking!

Traveller's Notebook

Here is my first DT project for Pretty My Page .  PMP specialise in cut files - both pre-cut for those without machines and digital.  They also stock a large range of mixed media items and are adding new items regularly. I've had an urge to make a Traveller's Notebook for a while but one with a twist.  I fancied odd pages, different shapes and textures - a bit like a junk journal but TN size.  Most of all I wanted some seethrough layers so I could have parts of pages peeking through.  Step up the Doodled Rainbow Mesh cut file.  The 12x12 pre-cut file was too big but I just trimmed it down to size.  The piece that was cut off will make it on to a layout fairly soon I'm sure!  A few of the other pages are pieces from the Layering Pack.  This pack includes dictionary pages, sheet music, doilies and glassine bags along with some real treasures like old collecting cards and postcards. Here's the process video so you can watch it come together.
