Shape Series | Heart Makes

Here's a round up of some heart themed makes from the last few weeks.

First up is a heart embossed background for a CAS(ish) card.  Coverplate from Time For Teas Designs, bird stamp from MFT, sequins and sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh.

I love the quilt-y puffiness of embossing with a coverplate but I'm never completely sure the best way to capture it in a photo.

Now a run of layouts, some more 'hearty' than others.  I really wanted to use up as many of my puffy heart stickers as possible.  It became clear that just a scattering per layout wasn't going to do the job...

My cut file, patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio, bits and bobs from the depths of my stash.  (This type of cut file is great as you get two usable pieces, one the opposite of the other.  Picture where this is blue being white and where this is white being blue.  I'll share the other layout soon...)

I changed tack and went all out with the stickers...

This is based on an old sketch of mine.

A good chunk of stickers (and clay heart confetti) used up but I think the sticker sets are repopulating over night.  There are still loads left.

I joke I'm a one trick pony when it comes to scrapping.  My formula is die cut one thing from every colour of paper and put it in rainbow order.  It works for me every time!  This one is embellished with hearts from Peartree Cutfiles.

The rainbow of papers are from Heffy Doodle, as are the dies.

As I said, it works evey time...

Here the hearts are tittles on the i's and a few enamel shapes to the right.

Now a duo of cards using the same supplies:

Coverplate from Time For Tea Designs and papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.  You may notice tiny white hearts sprinkled over my projects for the next few months.  They are all from this coverplate.  It is such a pretty plate and is UK/metric sizing so fits the card blanks I use.  Most of the coverplates (that I come across anyway) are made in American sizing and are not a good fit for the A series paper sizing that we use here in the UK and Europe.

And finally a duo of layouts using the same sketch, cut file and basic design.  Well, the sketch and the basic design IS the cut file!  I have used double sided patterned paper backgrounds and folded the hearts revealing the reverse pattern.  I still think this type of folding cut file has huge potential and really want to create some more designs.

One in more subtle colours and then one in screaming sunshine yellow!!

I think that's a pretty good heart haul.  I haven't finished those stickers but I feel I've made good use of my stash.  I'm making a real effort to use patterned paper which shows looking over this post.  The other thing that strikes me looking through this post is my favourite layout is the one without patterned paper.  Not really sure where this puts me.  Perhaps first and foremost I need to remember that next time I'm tempted to buy patterned paper!!

Which brings me on to the next post I need to write...  I've been shopping.

WOYWW 159

Hello, Happy Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday !  As promised a picture of last Wednesdays 'work' finished off.  Post and more photos here . This week I'm showing off the beaded ATC I made... Tricky to photograph so your getting one with flash and one without... It was all parcelled up and sent off to Queen of Desks Julia .  Here is a basic of how it was made... (lots of waffle about wefts and warps!) I use a flexible beading needle.  It is mainly 'eye' so it is very easy to thread. And delica beads which are more regular and accurate than the better known seed bead.  They are slightly more rectangular than round so they line up better. Thread your needle with the weft thread.  (The cross ways thread that weaves back and forth.)  Pick up the beads... Pass the needlefull of beads underneath the warp (tight length ways) threads on the loom... ...and push each bead up in the corresponding g

Hoppity!

Hoppity hoppity!!  :) Hopeful you have arrived here from Fleur 's blog as part of the Crafty Ribbons Easter Hop .  If not and you've found yourself here wondering what on earth I'm on about (and let’s face it J you wouldn’t be the first!!) check out the Inspirations site for all the juicy details! My project for the hop is         Easter bunting!  I cut three templates first - a triangle pennant, a bird and a heart.        Then I cut the pennant shapes from fibre ribbon, threaded them on to some 3mm satin and evenly spaced them.  I embellished each flag with some beads...       I backed the birds and heart on some thin white card and glued them to the centre of the pennants.   My supplies list: yellow fibre , pink fibre , lime fibre , 3mm satin , button box , white card, glue, beads, needle and thread.   At each stop on the hop there'll be a word to collect and a candy draw. I've got these

WOYWW & Card Deck Swap

First up is my desk ... Hmm.  Perhaps the less said the better!  I really should have a sort out but I fancy desking instead! Next I want to share my card deck swaps (deskers don't have to stay for this bit but I reckon you'd enjoy joining in with us, which is why I'm including it in this post) You can read about the swap here on Jessica's blog and sign up here .  Basically, we take a deck of cards, add paint and/or paper, then add a positive sentiment to each card.  Post them to Jessica who shuffles them and sends back 52 different cards from different artists (yes, you are an artist!) from all over the world. These few are ones I have picked out to display first.  I'll swap them round after a few weeks.  Do you like my domino pegs?  :) Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll at least consider joining us for the card swap - it's like a super sized ATC swap, and all WOYWW er's know they are fun! See you at your desk x
