Bobby & adorable

One of my Secret Santa stocking swaps had so much green paper-y ribbon-y goodness in it that I couldn't help but start creating on Boxing Day!

One layout morphed in to two layouts - you can watch exactly how it happened...

I ended up only adding the gold word stickers, gold washi and gold glitter alphas to the goodies from the stocking - it was such a complete 'kit' that I didn't need many extras.

This was my first experience with Heidi Swapp's texture paste.  I didn't use it for texture on this occasion, but when it comes to it, I'll be trying to layer it as it seems a little looser than the texture pastes I am used to.  Fabulous colour and sheen though!

I love the wooden hearts covered with paper.

These photos don't really pick up the shine of the paste - I expect it will be tricky to capture on camera (I already have this issue with Shimmerz products) but in the flesh it is super.

I wonder if any one has any tips for sewing circles on a machine?  Mine are very, umm, un-circular!  But it attaches the ribbon and adds to the texture...

He is indeed adorable and I heart him SO much!

There is oodles left over which will be safely stored for the next day when I feel the need to make green things!

Also a heads up - the £1 bag sale is on at Crafty Ribbons.  Buy before 5th January and get 12 bags for £10

Stocking Swaps

I took part in two Stocking Swaps this Christmas.  Here I'll talk you through what I received...

The first swap I signed up for was a handmade swap with Cheryll.  My swap partner was Pam, a master needlewoman - excitement and pressure... I knew I'd be receiving some great goodies but I had to send her a stocking that I had sewn!  Sewing is something I enjoy, something I wish I had more time and energy to spend on, and something I am not very good at.  I think when you enjoy doing something it doesn't matter that you aren't amazing at it, it's just fun as it is.

Here are my goodies...

All beautifully sewn and so perfect!  Definitely things I will be pulling out every year.

The little pencil case may well end up holding supplies from the next stocking!

The second swap was organised by Gemma with some of my fellow 'like for ever' subscribers.  By this point I had already had one sleep and opened a few presents and was suffering.

It was not a good day health wise - it hasn't been great for a while but I am trying to be positive about things.  Painkillers taken and hand supports on,  Mum helped me out unwrapping most of these goodies.  Her verdict was, "well, she knows you so well!"  Everything was spot on for my crafting loves...

Greens, hearts, stars, washi, ribbons, proper chocolate - all the things I love!

My best bits, apart from my favourite chocolate, are the gelatos and the handmade canvas.  I'm not sure why I have held back for so long on the gelatos - I love them!  And the canvas - well as soon as Christmas is back in the loft it will take pride of place on my shelf.

I can only hope my recipients are as pleased as I am!

Christmas Frame

Hello!  Merry Christmas to one and all!

This is a cheap glass clip frame from the pound shop.  I've added some lace around the edge with red backed super sticky tape.

I created a template on my Silhouette software to cut a grid of squares to match the size of the patterns on the Christmas Charm Snowflakes ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.  I stuck them to the back with more red backed super sticky tape - I love the stuff, it sticks everything!

Then to finish off I used some gold Stickles glitter glue to script Merry Christmas directly on to the glass.  It looks really impressive and you don't have to tell anyone that you lay the glass over some printed script and just traced it!!

Enjoy your next few festive days

Favourite Things

My favourite things about Christmas are Carols From Kings (a televised Carol Service) and - now don't laugh, I know it's really trivial - gift wrapping!  As I am setting the theme for Crafty Ribbons Challenges this week I have chosen Favourite Things About Christmas.  Your project must include your favourite thing from the festive season.

One of my favourites this year is this parcel wrapped in decadent wide grosgrain with a matching tag and 3mm ribbon.

But my project for this weeks challenge is this...

There will be some coffee addicts out there who can tell what is inside from the shape of the package!!  I simply wrapped in maroon tissue and wrapped some Vintage Christmas ribbon around.  Handily it is exactly the right width.

Then I whizzed up a couple of tags using paper and cut files from like for ever's Wish List kit and my sewing machine.

I attached the tags by winding some 3mm grosgrain around the present a few times and tying in a bow.

Come over and join us at Crafty Ribbons Challenges if you have a spare crafty moment in the next week!

Happy, happy, happy...

This layout is a mish mash of supplies from my stash.  It started with a handful of "happy's" from the Pink Fresh papers from a past like for ever kit.  The range was called Happy Things so each piece of aper was branded with the logo.  I thought I could use them and stashed them away safely!

I made a little rosette with a vellum piece from Elle's Studio, a wood veneer, a scrap of patterned paper and some twill tape from Crafty Ribbons.

The green patterned paper is a mailshot from Boden!  And the Happy's are lined up peeping out from beneath the photo.

I can only imagine the happiness he was feeling having two dummies at bed time!

Chocolate Wrapping

Still running with my obsession of gift wrapping... look!  This one has a chocolate included in the bow!!

I've used Retro Christmas range of ribbons from Crafty Ribbons and some kraft paper stencilled with gold acrylic paint and glitter glue.

Festive Nest

This little layout is a guest designer project for like for ever.  In fact it is my last official project share, but I'm hoping to squeeze another post in before the next kit is released.

All supplies are from the kit or are add ons available from like for ever.  I pulled some ribbon from my Crafty Ribbons stash that matched the photos.

I made a shaker pocket with the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla sequins.

Everything was backed with a few layers of white tissue, and for dimension embellishments were stuck down with foam adhesive.

I made good use of the cut apart sheet.  And aren't the enamel dots the most perfect colours?!

Although this ribbon range is from 2012 it is still available to buy.

How I miss my Cheeky Beak's antics!

I sometimes struggle with wood veneers but these ones were easy to work on to my pages.

As a little something new from me, you can watch me creating this layout here!

Tis the season...

I've been playing with my like for ever kit and preparing for Christmas at the same time - result!  I love wrapping presents at any time of year but I always go a bit crazy at December... here are some of the presents I have wrapped so far...

The first one uses a few pieces of ephemera from the like for ever Wish List kit, a Pink Paislee paperclip, a Cocoa Vanilla bow and a peg covered with patterned paper.

Again this one uses a peg covered with patterned paper, plus some Crafty Ribbons lace, Wish List goodies and a few bits dug out from my Christmas stash.  I'd like to enter this at
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge

For this one I've grouped some ephemera from Wish List, tied with some 3mm ribbon and stuck to the parcel with a Cocoa Vanilla bow.  I'm entering this at Avenue 613.

For this I've used a strip of patterned paper around the present, a few lovely ribbons and a couple of ephemera pieces from Wish List.

This one was just me playing with paper...  It turns out I can make a bow with only a few strips of paper!  Colour me dead chuffed!

the tiny destroyer

I've been gone a while.  I keep seeing things that I find super inspiring but I've had either no energy or other things needing to be done.  One of the many tabs left open on my web browser is 'show us your stuff' and their December sketch.  I managed to have a go this yesterday afternoon...

Pretty much the entire layout is made with like for ever kit contents.  I added some tiny stars (ebay), ribbon off cuts (Crafty Ribbons), a doily (SpiegelMomScraps).

The title is long for me - and I had no trouble getting it all out of the mini alpha tiles from Cocoa Vanilla, with loads of left overs.  Why aren't all alpha sets like this?!

And the journalling to explain the title.  He was eleven months then... I wonder how he'll react this year...

I have real trouble using flair - not buying it though!  I was pleased to get this one on the page.

The top cluster with it's wonderful chubby star!

The doily was white.  I used some shimmerz and Derwent art bars along with a water brush.  I may have added a little Inktense in too.  I could colour doileys all day long!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's Frosty!

It is challenge time over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges.  This time the theme is 'Shaped' so either the base of your project needs to be shaped (other than the regular square or rectangle) or you can add a shaped character.

I've made another gift tag featuring a hand cut snowman...

His scarf is scarlet snowflake ribbon, his eyes and coal are from the black basics2go buttons.

Slightly obsesed with layering my tags at the moment.  The back tag is stamped and embossed.

The middle tag is a vellum pocket of snow - or chunky white glitter.

And it is all held together with 3mm grosgrain.

Come over ad join us, won't you?

Christmas Card Hanger

It's beginning to look a little like Christmas... and you might start receiving cards in the post.  I like to peg mine to my ribbon card holder.

To make this I have used hanging baubles from Crafty Ribbons feature range Christmas Charm.  I've added a few bells, some 3mm grosgrain and some mini pegs.

It will be hung on my door ready for cards, and every time someone walks past quickly and creates a little breeze, or brushes their arm against it is they walk past, I'll hear a little jingle - it'll make me smile every time!!
