CKC Round Up

Here are the last couple of layouts from my Counterfeit Kit for January... This is one that I like; Simple layering of two patterned papers, a few pieces from the cut part sheet ad a glassine bag with paper bows and sequins.  I've also used the two toned ribbon because it matched the heart paper so well.  (I made need to buy another couple of sheets of the grey heart paper!!) This layout I don't really like; It was my take on the wonky stripe sheet in the original kit.  It's a pretty good forge but I just didn't know how to use it.  Any way, I got a lot of the turquoise alphas used up!  You can see how I altered the j's in to i's, F's in to E's and Q in to O with a turquoise and white pen.  Also one of the A's used to be a V, but you can't really tell which.  I do love to stretch my alphas!!  It pretty much says it all... She is truly bad but she is the most beautiful bunny in the world, ever in the history of rabbits, so

Linking this up at Annie's Fridays Smiles... Because my daffodils and my sewing machine and my bunny ribbon have made me smile this week!

Beautiful To Me

I'm down to the last pieces in my January Counterfeit Kit.  The circular patterned paper, I like it but I was finding it hard to use, so I cut it all up!! I added a sheet of kraft to my kit - the white background just wasn't working for me. I arranged my circles to cascade down the side of the page and then tried to fit as many of the embellishments on as I could!  When I thought I had finished I threw a handful of gems at the page for good measure! I'm not sure this is my style.  I suppose it is still a simple layout - there is a large percentage of white space (or kraft space!!) but it feels different for me.  I like it.  I like that the paper pushed me too. Thanks for stopping by

Pegged! & Clouds

Two posts in one day?  Two layouts on one post?  What on earth is going on?!?! I discovered Cocoa Vanilla - a new Australian scrapbook paper manufacturer - and fell in love with both collections.  I ordered straight away and they arrived to the UK in less than a week.  I have been playing ever since and here are a couple of the results... It's normal for a big brother to cover his little sister in clothes pegs, isn't it? The papers, stickers and bigger cork stars are Cocoa Vanilla Flying High .  I supplemented the Cocoa Vanilla cork stars with a few smaller cork stars from my stash.  And I found alphas that matched perfectly - this is the reason I have a stash!!  I'd like to share this at Make My Monday as I used bright cheery colours and Stuck Sketches whose sketch inspired me. Next up is clouds.  I am loving cloud motifs at the moment! Again mainly Cocoa Vanilla goodies.  This time I added some of Crafty Ribbons new lace too. Oh, the clo

WOYWW 295

Hello Deskers !!  On my desk today we have... an almost complete layout (hoping to blog later today) made from Cocoa Vanilla papers (I know we don't like loads of links on WOYWW posts but scrapbookers, check them out, they are new and are worth a minute or two of your time!)  Can you spot my WOYWW badge?  And there is an obscene amount of lace !!  I know I am a very lucky girl! Most of it is 'short meters' of each new release.  I know this is not an ideal way to store it.  I know it will get tangled.  I know I will spend half an hour tutting.  I know I will spend half an hour untangling.  But it looks so pretty!! Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you at your desk!

That Look

I've used up the last of those butterfly stickers.  Oh how I smiled!! It's quite a simple layout with supplies from my Counterfeit Kit.  Just three colours, mint, white and gold - but they are perfect together! I pretty much got a bit of everything in - transparency, tag, alphas, metal embellishment, flair, a button and some gem bows. I'm really pleased with how this one turned out! Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful

Beautiful. The title of this page could not be more fitting.  You know I love orchids and this one came to join my collection as a Christmas present.  It is simply beautiful. I put this layout together using the cut apart sheet in my counterfeit kit.  I like the look of the thrown down pile of papers with the photos on top - it's amazing how hard it is to get the random thrown down look!! I added some rub ons (also from my kit) and used up the last of my white seam binding from Crafty Ribbons.  I think I need to place an order soon!  (Uh oh!  There are 124 colours to chose from!!) Lastly I added a snippet from the cut off strip from the bottom of one of the 12x12 papers and a gorgeous bird wood veneer.  I wish I could remember where it came from.  I don't remember purchasing it so it was either part of a give-away or a freebie with a magazine. Friday

If you are here for the CKC blog hop please see the post below! Have you heard about the new lace at Crafty Ribbons ?  I've been lucky enough to get my sticky glittery hands on some... This is a layout using two colours which perfectly matched the scraps of card left over from a Christmas project I worked on with my nephew.  We made little accordion photo albums with a picture from the 12th day of each month of the first year of his life.  By 'we' I mean me, but it was his idea ;)  They are on my to share list so they should be blogged soon... I love this little cluster.  Lace scraps, a flair from Hey Little Magpie, a plastic 'thingy' that housed the parts to make a miniature plastic aeroplane and thread. Anyone else think the repeating lace motif looks like an eye?

CKC Blog Hop!

Welcome to my part of the CKCB Members' Blog Hop. You should have come here from the lovely Susanne ...   I chose to work with Challenge #2 which was to use recycled print and here's my layout... My print came from my bird book.  I get a bit weird using print as I have seen a layout with a photo of a beautiful toddler with a rude word on the backing paper.  I figure bird books are a pretty safe area - no rude words! I struggled for a while 'losing' my photos against the patterned papers.  I added a sheet of soft pink vellum between the layering and the photos to get the right balance. Working on using up snippety bits of left over lace :) Apparently the most important detail of the Christmas present featured in the layout is that it's pink!!  Funny little thing!! Thanks for stopping by and now you should hop over to Margie ...   The full blog hop list will be published on the link-to-the-CKCB so if you get lost along the way, head ov

Friday Smiles

Today's Friday Smile is a gorgeous pale lilac grey tulip... They make me want to get my watercolours out... but I know I could never do these beauties justice!! Linking up at Friday Smiles with Annie and Happy Friday with Penny

Day Dream

It is challenge day at Crafty Ribbons Challenges . Here is a layout using Crafty Ribbons new lace... (at time of publication the lace is so new it is not yet on the website!!) I am totally in love with it!  The lace that is.  It comes in so many colours and I don't think there are many colours that I wouldn't use. Here I've gone grey to match the snippets and flair badge.  (Used snippets - tick.  Playing at The Playground !)  I had some wired ribbon that I wanted unwired, instead of throwing the wire away I bundled it up to make a 'bed' for the flair to sit on. I used my new (for Christmas) glitter glue and butterfly stamp and added some haematite star beads.  They had been a bracelet at one point but I decided they would make a good embellishment! I love the grey tones and the dark teal together, definitely one to remember as a successful colour combination! Entering at Scribble and Scraps and Anything But A Card (brand new lace!) Thanks

WOYWW 294

I'm rather late for WOYWW today... My day started (too) early, a little crafting, then some real life form filling in which frazzled my brain, followed by sleep.  I can show you what I made before the big sleep, not from my desk , but from my bed as this is where I will be for the rest of the evening. A recorder case with music ribbon and a handmade tab from Crafty Ribbons and fabric bought in a 'I must have it, it's green' moment!! Thanks for stopping by!

Laura & Mitzy

I've discovered Wilna Furstenberg.  She rocks!  I watched this video and loved the third layout (starting around 12 minutes) so much that I basically lifted it identically, albeit with different supplies. I love the way Wilna structured her layout.  I also admire her use of 'little bits'.  I seem to struggle to get much product on to my page.  I have a few theories... I like clean and simple, I pay for all my supplies and therefore don't want to use too many in one go, I am unsure how to use the words included in ephemera packs, I am stuck in a rut.  It's probably a combination of all four.  A lot of layouts that are packed with product are made by design team members who are supplied with freebies - maybe they don't feel the need to eek out every last possible project, maybe they are doing their job well by making me want to use more product!! I think I have done well here using quite a few little bits from the Gossamer Blue ephemera pack, and also

Happy Day

I've been playing with some kits from Things That Shine.  The netting, the tissue ruffle, the silver stickers and the shipping tag - they just make me want to create pretty things! And sequins.  Sequins are my new favourite thing!  If I could find some neon sequins I think I may explode with happy!! The colour scheme helps with the pretty, pretty feel. I lifted this title straight from the kit and used it as my page title - never waste a thing! Thanks for stopping by today :)

Playing Cups

I've been playing with my counterfeit kit again.  There are a couple of sheets left which I am unsure how to use.  Rather than try and work it out today I just put them to one side and made this instead! I kind of followed the sketch from Sketch'n'Scrap ...  But went a bit freestyle with it too! I used some happy happy happy ribbon from Crafty Ribbons .  It's the first time I've used it I think.  So far it has been too precious to cut! And I also layered in some grey cotton ribbon . The alphas are Amy Tan woodgrain thickers, at least they were before I gessoed them!  I have two packs, both of which came as part of something rather than me buying them, and I'm really struggling to use them.  I decided to gesso them and then make them match the two tone heart paper using acrylic paint.  I can see the rest of them being used up this way... they can match any and every project with the amount of paint I own!! & Dream Little Sleepy Head

One of my favourites from my recent scrapbook layouts... Mint glitter cardstock and blue heart ribbon - umm, yes please!! I've also used scraps - all scraps.  I did not cut any paper for this layout, I just gathered coordinating pieces from my blue and green scrap folders and layered them up.  Finally I have used some more of the gelli prints I made early last year! I matched in some blue and green embellishments, like this flair from Hey Little Magpie and a couple of paperclips.  It needed something extra so I added a giraffe wood veneer. I love these scrap pages and I think it's the direction I am going to take when putting together my next kit.  The only whole sheets will be backgrounds (usually plain white cardstock for me, perhaps a few sheets of plain coloured cardstock too), everything else will be off cuts, snippets and scraps. Entering at The Playground and Not Just Cards . Thanks for stopping by!

WOYWW 293

Well, no desk today as I'm working on the floor... (partly because the desk is too messy!) I've been getting inky and messy and salty!  I love the look that salt leaves on wet inks. Next job find some use for lots of green papers... Thanks for stopping by!

Sewn Circles

I've been playing with some of Gossamer Blue's line Gramercy Road . I really enjoyed working with this colour palette.  It's pretty without being too girly and the patterns pack a punch without being too much.  And it has a mustard colour that is close to perfection! Who doesn't love dogtooth cameras and a sprinkling of enamel dots?!   Little squirrel button from Things That Shine. Thanks for stopping by!
