Blog Hop!!

Hello Crafters!  We're so glad you're skipping along with us today!  You should have arrived here from Ka's blog (I'm sure you'll agree Ka makes the most wonderful shaker cards!)  We are so excited to be creating with Jen Schow this month and we adore her cut files.  You might remember this layout from a few weeks back, Jen's artwork is right up my street! Here's today's line up!  If you get lost while your skipping along today just come back here and click over to the next blog in the line up.  We hope you enjoy the inspiration! SpiegelMom Scraps Crafty Jen Ka Laura - you are here! Katty Sarah Lea Anna Sigga We had a selection of new cut files to chose from - I couldn't chose so I cut them all!!  This layout combines all of the butterflies... I've used patterned papers from like for ever kit - little things and the alphas are from Elle's Studio.  I didn't have any blue alphas to match the background of th

Oh Ali! What Have You Started?

As I shared yesterday I made some metal leafed cork hearts .  As soon as the first layout using them was finished I started on another!  This one is made from the same collection (My Mind's Eye On Trend 2 from my like for ever kit - there are a few available as I type, but be quick!!) and includes the cork heart with the most metal leaf on.  I also added in some pegs , twine , Mint Chip sequin mix and Peachy Sherbet sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps. I ran out of A's so I used an upside down V with a bit of a Z for the cross bar.  Also a P makes a reasonable ? if your alpha pack doesn't include punctuation! The story is about my friend Ali mentioning rock buns.  She makes them nearly every weekend.  Of course, when you hear of a food that you haven't had for a few years you immediately want to taste it again. If you fancy a nibble the recipe can be found here ! You can find my supplies in the SpiegelMom Scraps shop and if you use the code

Craft Hack - Gold Flecked Hearts

Hi Friends!  I'm here today to share a craft hack... I've had my eye on some cork hearts with gold flecks in them, but each time I've tried to buy them online they are sold out.  I put my thinking cap on and came up with a plan to make my own... in short; one pack of the gorgeous chunky cork hearts from SpiegelMom Scraps, some two way glue (I used Tombow) and some foil or gold leaf. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.  I experimented with polka dots and a bigger smudge of glue too...   For my first layout using these blinged up hearts I used My Mind's Eye's On Trend 2 collection that came in my recent like for ever scrapbooking kit.  I added in a few of my hearts and some gold sequins . I'm not keen on my journalling showing so I made a little pocket to hide a journalling card in.  I always have some glassine bags on hand.  You can easily change the size with  few lines of sewing. I was aiming for a band across the

Easter Blog Hop with Crafty Ribbons

Hello and wecome to Crafty Ribbon's Easter Bonnet Parade!!  You should have arrived via MARIANNE 's blog.  If you have stumbled across this blog hop and want to start at the beginning pop over to CRAFTY RIBBONS . Here is my miniature Easter bonnet! I went with the traditional Easter colour palette of yellows.  The structure of the hat is made from card and the rim from Clermont lace. I made a few ribbon roses to decorate the lace brim. I made this bonnet using Swiss Dots , Organza Swiss Dots and Clermont Lace all from Crafty Ribbons.   To take part in our EASTER PARADE you will need to visit our DT members' blogs and leave a comment on the DT creations which they have made for the parade.  There is also an egg sitting on a few of the girls blogs which you will need to take note of and then link up on that days post. and tell us on whose blog you found the egg. If you take part every day and linkup with the correct name on each day,

Four Seasons

Oh, I enjoyed making this one... I know it's not an original concept - the four seasons artwork has been done many times before but I still enjoyed interpreting it my way.  I started out with a four pack of mini canvasses, each painted a different shade of blue. I then painted on a very unrealistically shaped tree!  I needed an even spread of branches to attach my button leaves to, so following the shape of a real tree didn't quite work!  I sorted through my button stash and pulled out blossom pinks and spring greens; rich leafy greens; and autumnal oranges, yellows, reds and browns.  I attached my buttons with matte gel medium, but any strong glue would be okay. My favourite touch?  The autumn leaves that have dropped from the tree! You can find a huge selection of buttons here ! Thank you for stopping by

R is for (unfinished) Raspberry

Well, it is Sunday which means it is new letter day for the Craft Barn's A-Z challenge. I have not been well and have been unable to finish my last letter. I got as far as a first layer, but then this blooming cough kicked in! Here is the first layer and I endeavour to finish it for my next A-Z post... Also, I'm pretty sure all my pre planned and scheduled posts have come to an end so if it is quiet on here it means it is still noisy in real life! Glad you can't catch my germs via my blog - stay healthy lovely visitors!

HAPPY

I told you I was excited about this collection!!  I'm a using Claudia's Amy collection mixed with Spring Bloom sequins again - they really are the perfect match! I've come to the end of the pieces of Amy that I printed, so this is the last layout and uses up some of the small pieces I had left. You can follow along with my process on this video... I rather like the garlands draped over the page, what do you think? I promise my next share will be with a different collection!

Friday Smiles

I love to watch the colour of a flower change.  The colour when it first flowers is rarely the same as the fourth or fifth day, and never the same as a fallen petal.  I watched these beautiful pale pink tulips change to dark pink with a blue tinge and white edges. Sleep for Crafty Ribbons

This fortnights challenge at Crafty Ribbons Challenges is 'Green' chosen by our lovely Kate.  I had a quick flick through my green stash and decided minty green was the way to go... For the background I pushed two colours of Dazzlerz texture paste through a stencil trying to create an ombre effect between the two colours.  Whilst that dried I layered up my photo with whites, greens and transparent vellums and glassine.  I added a small layer of the bright blue featured in the photograph to tie it all together.  I strung my chosen ribbons across a section of printed acetate and decided I needed lace too... This is my favourite lace - it doesn't last me long, as soon as I replenish my stock I use it all again!! I added some sequins and alphas all in my chosen minty green shade. Please pop over and join us over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges - anything hand made with green as the main colour... Thanks for stopping by! I have used: Mint Volcan lace

ICE CREAM

Photo heavy post... I've made another mini album!  Oh I love it, the colours, the patterns, the subject matter!!  Let me walk you through it... It's quite a dinky hand-sized album.  The pages are a mixture of tags, cardstock rectangles, a glassine bag... all very eclectic!  There was a die cut circle on my desk so that went in too! I've used a printable collection from Claudia Van R and supplies from SpiegelMom Scraps .  The only additional supplies were some hole reinforcers from Heidi Swapp, a gold pen, and a book ring I coloured gold to match the collection. A brief note about the subject matter:  I like ice cream a lot.  We went away for a week and I tried to eat an ice cream every day!! The colours of the sequins in the spring bloom sequin mix perfectly match the Amy collection. Rather than keep my rectangular pages regular I let the photo overlap the edge.  This gave me some interesting shapes and a good way to add extra contrasting pops of

Union Flag

To go along with the Tricolore and the Saltaire I was asked by Ali at Crafty Ribbons to make a Union Flag to decorate the show stand at U.K craft fairs.  From my experience with the other two I knew it was not going to be easy... But I selected my ribbons and then added some more - these flags eat ribbon!!  No matter how big the pile of ribbons you start with, it just disappears in to the flag! I planned my proportions and angles on paper first and then set to work attaching red drops of ribbon in the middle.  The next step was to fill either side with white and red combinations - in effect making a St George's Cross. Then when that step was complete I added the blues and the narrow red for the cross of St Patrick. To make a flag like this you will need: A large selection of red , white and blue lace and ribbon. London bus ribbon. English Hearts ribbon. Thanks for stopping by!
