Laughing...

This is the second layout I made for SpiegelMom Scraps for Missy Whidden week... This one uses Shimmerz products and the Purple Rain sequin mix. This layout came about from the original stencilling.  I didn't love it as it was so I cut out each section and pieced them back together.  I'm much happier with the final result! Again I channelled Missy with sewing, threads and tissue behind the photo.  I also added a layer of tulle for extra texture. I got lost on Pinterest for a while but eventually came up with a title and I'm quite liking the look of the quote - Laughing with a friend is the best kind of laughing there is. Thanks for stopping by!

SpiegelMom Scraps are having a scrap-lift-a-thon!  Well, we've been given different scrap artists to lift over the next month or so.  First up is everyones favourite - Missy Whidden . I got a bit carried away!  I made two.  You'll see in the video... I'll share the second in a separate post tomorrow. A few things that shout Missy to me are Shimmerz products , machine sewing, stencils, torn washi tape and tangled thread. I won't lie to you - I have a hard time covering up my mixed media!  I opted for a longish spread out title as this didn't cover too much of the stencil and sewing work. Of course I added sequins - these ones are Sparkle Power and Star Spangled .  If you shop at SpiegelMom's don't forget to use my code Laura15 for a discount. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm taking part in Mind The Scrap's Summer Challenge to try and kick start my scrapping.  I'm starting with this one - less pressure and more freedom for this as it is not an important photo. I've incorporated turquoise and journalling to earn some points for the challenge. I've thrown in some ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, washi from my stash, clear alphas from Pretty Little Studio and some Shimmerz from SpiegelMom Scraps. I just let loose and tried not to think - good for the soul! And it is another story down on paper - big cheer! I'm hoping to get back to a happy scrappy groove now...

Wonderful You

The theme at SpiegelMom Scraps this week is sewing.  I started sewing a background in April last year and this was the push I needed to finish it! I used some Shimmerz mists and Paste-eez to paint in some of the Swiss crosses.  Puttin' On The Glitz , Snow Storm Vibez and Before Dawn Vibez did the trick nicely. The title was pieced together from left over letters.  The N was a trimmed down W, the R was a B cleverly cut, the F was a T with it's arm moved and the U was a zero and X mashed together!  I can get one more word from the alphas (C0C0A) and a few J's to use as initials on Jesse's pages. I stamped up some patterned paper with Distress Oxide and a turnabout stamp from Concord and 9th, then layered it in behind my photo and title.  I finished off with Black Tie Event and Moonshine Delight sequins and called it finished. ( By the way, these turnabout stamps are amazing... and I don't really 'do' stamping!! ) So 15 months for a lay

. Happy Snaps .

I took part in Mind The Scrap's Chinese Whispers.  This was the layout that I made to start of my round... It's all Cocoa Vanilla goodness! I love how it turned out - and look!  I used a patterned paper background!!  Go me!

Neon Nails

Here is a bright fun layout I whipped up for a like for ever family challenge.  The criteria was bright colours with at least 10 layers. I went through it with the background.  This is take three!  I kept trying to add more (black ink splats?  What was I thinking?!) and ruining the effect.  Mark III is made up of at lest five layers of neon watercolour and two layers of texture paste through a star stencil. I've then pulled out all my neon stash (and had a gleeful 10 minutes playing with it all!) and added a few black and white bits to set the neon colours off. Minus the two ruined backgrounds, I really enjoyed making this layout.  Here's the video if you want to watch... Thanks for stopping by!

Chuckles (SID)

This month's sketch at Stick It Down is by my new team mate Lorraine . I have interpretted it in my minimal/white space style... I have made a large-ish shaker pocket filled with two sequin mixes from SpiegelMom Scraps (Wedding Bells and Green Acres.) And added a few word stickers - some hand written. For something extra, each word sticker is backed with either tulle or zigzag acetate. I hope you can join us over at Stick It Down this month! Here's the process video:

Loving This

I'm on the UK Scrap Addicts blog/YouTube channel today... here's a sneak; Hop over for the full shebang!

Hap Birt Bob

SpiegelMom Scraps design team have been assigned weekly themes for June.  This week's challenge is to scrap a birthday you wouldn't normally scrap.  Immediately this photo sprang to mind... My brother made Bobby half a birthday cake for his 6 months-aversary!  What a hoot! I spritzed some stars on the background with Shimmerz mists and then painstakingly added sequins in the shape of stars.  I fashioned a flag from a cocktail stick (we always called them toothpicks but this seems to be an old fashioned term now) and some washi stickers from Heidi Swapp. I used Shamrock Stars sequins which can be found in the SpiegelMom's shop along with loads of other yumminess!
