G is for Gull

Here I am, sneaking in, under the deadline by a whisker! For the Craft Barn's A-Z this fortnight the letter was G , and I picked a gull...   I also found a couple of new-to-me words... gutta-percha and inspissated.  I love this old dictionary! I am really pleased with this drawing.  Last fortnight was raspberry and I didn't get my pages finished due to illness.  Well, I think it is done but I'm not in love.  I may well come back to it with fresh eyes and work on it some more! Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments and messages!

CKC Blog Hop!

Welcome to my part of the CKCB Members' Blog Hop. You should have come here from the lovely Susanne ...   I chose to work with Challenge #2 which was to use recycled print and here's my layout... My print came from my bird book.  I get a bit weird using print as I have seen a layout with a photo of a beautiful toddler with a rude word on the backing paper.  I figure bird books are a pretty safe area - no rude words! I struggled for a while 'losing' my photos against the patterned papers.  I added a sheet of soft pink vellum between the layering and the photos to get the right balance. Working on using up snippety bits of left over lace :) Apparently the most important detail of the Christmas present featured in the layout is that it's pink!!  Funny little thing!! Thanks for stopping by and now you should hop over to Margie ...   The full blog hop list will be published on the link-to-the-CKCB so if you get lost along th...

Autumn

Here is a simple little mini album I put together with a kit from Things That Shine and some Autumn 2014 photos. I started by folding 5 book pages in half.  I reinforced the area the holes would be with washi and stab-stitched them together to form the base of my mini. I had some messy fun on the book pages using my Inktense pencils. The only thing I added to the kit was washi tape from my stash, some crochet bits, alphas and a yellow smiley face clip. And a close up collage... Squirrels, acorns, little labels - all things that make me happy! Entering at  Scribble and Scrap Crafts . Thanks for stopping by!

Polar Bear

I drew this for a friends birthday... What do you think?

Shiney Things

Here is the first completed layout using my Things That Shine kit.  I have a couple of others on the go but they need titles and words still... That is one kit!  I'll easily get 4 -5 complete layouts and then another 2-3 half layouts...  I was unsure about the leaves but when I coloured the stems gold instead of white I found them less of a struggle to work with. I love the seam binding and the way it soaked up the mist I threw at it! I've just noticed that the main reason I bought the kit - the squirrel buttons and the acorn charms - still sit unused.  I seem to have slipped back in to the 'if I use it I won't have it left to use in the future' rut.  Note to self: Oi!  You don't play like that any more!! It may be a while before I finish the other Things That Shine layouts as I need to start work on my Counterfeit Kit duties for October, but they'll show up sometime.  I've loved working with this kit. Thanks for stopping by.

Food

The challenge at Another Freaking Scrapbook Challenge is to scrap about an achievement or recognition.  I've used wood frames from my counterfeit kit for July and added some book pages to make this; remembering the sparrowhawk in my garden and celebrating it being published in my local newspaper.  (Still seriously excited about it all!) Thanks for stopping by :)

'shine'

So, if I've got this right this is the second to last in my mini canvas series.  (Links for the individual posts: love , smile , laugh , happy & wish ) This canvas measures 40mm by 62mm - dinky! I used some pieces of book page as a backing and about six shades of yellow acrylic paint!  The white is gesso, used to tone down the yellow to get it to fit with the series.  I added a few star shaped sequins and picked the word 'shine' as the message for this canvas. All there is to do now is type up the post for the last canvas and then I can share the finished series.  I love how it looks sitting on my shelf  :) Entering at The Playground because you leave such lovely comments and are a talented bunch :)

Crafty Ribbons Challenge - AG With Ribbon

So my DT piece for todays Crafty Ribbons challenge is a layout.  I was looking at all sorts of sketches and mood boards and in the end I followed Scrap Around The World 's mood board. I took my inspiration form the metallic gold triangles on the pink pots in the bottom right corner.  I took my colours from the top left corner - gold, deep pink, dark teal, egg yolk - and I also used the chevron pattern.  I tried to get an ombre effect with the misting in the background but it wasn't terribly successful.  (I like it but it is not obviously ombre.)   I cut my fibre ribbon in to chevron/zigzags.  I also used some teal stained book pages. Lots of gold misting behind. I pulled out some triangular buttons ( or these! ), covered them with tombow multi glue and waited until it had turned sticky.  Then I covered them with gold leaf. I also covered the top of my foam letters with gold leaf.  I left the sides black which highl...
