Buffalo Plaid

Mary Garcia inspires me in many ways.  I saw this post on her Instagram feed and knew I had to scraplift it! I pulled out a bunch of sewing threads that matched my photo and spent some time playing with my sewing machine. The background does most of the talking but I lightly embellished with some flair from Feed Your Craft, puffy stickers from Bella Blvd and Elle's Studio and an acrylic title from Bramble Fox. I added a few word stickers from 1Canoe2 and some star shaped sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. I adore how it has turned out - definitely worth the time at the sewing machine! Thanks for looking!

Pretty My Page

I adore this cut file from Pretty My Page ... The layout had to be fairly simple to let the cut file shine. I backed it with a pink-peach paper from Cocoa Vanilla, which was spritzed with Peachy Keen Shimmerz to knock the pink back slightly. Sequins are from SpiegelMom Scraps and are called Peach Canna Lily.  Lace snippets from Crafty Ribbons. Here is the video:

Wagtail

Now I've started working with More Than Words from Cocoa Vanilla I just can't stop!  I love this collection! I've combined the blues, greys and yellows with watercolour for this layout. I added a fair bit of sewing.  I worked on watercolour paper and it's not always great at accepting glue... easily solved by using the sewing machine!! I love how the watercolour granulated.  I went for enamel dots instead of sequins - don't worry... I'm not turning my back on sequins for long! I included a journalling pocket to hold a tag/PL card. You can watch it all come together here Thanks for stopping by!

Scraplifting Kira

I'm in love with virtually every layout Kira Ness creates so when SpiegelMom Scraps team was asked to scraplift her I was one happy bunny!  I twiddled around in Studio and came up with a cut file which you can grab here . I added lots of foam adhesive to the back so it would throw shadows on to the back layer of card. The rest of the supplies are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio's new collection More Than Words and SpiegelMom Scraps.  I've used a few sequin mixes and some Shimmerz - Shimmerz are currently on sale! Here is Kira's version ... sorry it's small - I've tried to find a clearer picture but by the time I've saved it and uploaded this is what I'm left with Here's the process video... Thanks for stopping by!

Silk Ribbon Leaves

This project started with one idea, circled through a couple more ideas and ended up being one of my favourite creations so far this year. I started with some heart confetti cut on my Silhouette Cameo and Rose Gold Red Vibez from Shimmerz.  I was inspired by my friend Mary to have a good at a bokeh-type background.  You can see how in the video posted below. That was just playing with no plan in place for the finished piece.  I decided to go the ribbon route and make it a DT piece for Crafty Ribbons.  I picked a few ribbons and dyed them with the same spray. I then decided it needed some green, and what better than some silk leaves... I also added silk twists to the centre of my vellum flower.  I'd have used french knots if I knew how to do them ;) I used the following ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:  Organza Swiss Dots ; Seam Binding ; Silk Ribbons . Here is the process: Thanks for stopping by! Crafty Ribbons are running a DT call - check here

Sunflower Fields

One of the newer releases from SpiegelMom Scraps is a gorgeous sequin mix called Sunflower Fields .  I based this layout on the colours in the mix... I grabbed a few Shimmerz paints to match the browns, gold, yellow and green to match the sequins. I backed a heart mandala doily with the sequins, each ring of hearts in different colours. I added some paints aronud the cut file and added lots of water for that lovely soft effect. I added a few of the gold sequins along with puffy heart stickers and gold tiny word stickers to the layout. I backed my photo with a kraft and gold foil spot paper bag... it was on my desk and was the perfect match. I added a 'title' of JJ in Amy Tangerine stickers that have been in my stash for years - that is if you can call initals a title! I have video footage of the process too, but I'm yet to edit it.  I'll add it here later if it works out!

bloom

Absolu tely adore how this layout turned out...  I've had some coloured glue dots in my stash for a while now.  They are from All Things Sticky.  I've been pondering how to use them to their best for months.  I finally decided to design and cut some vellum flowers and adhere them to my layout with the colour dots acting as the middle of the flower. The rest of the layout is kept simple so the flowers are the focus.  I added a little watercolour, a few stickers and a title from Color Cast Designs. Of course I added sequins too!  These are from a few SpiegelMom Scraps mixes, pulled together to match the colours of the glue dots. I'll pop the cut file on my freebies page in case you would like to have a play!  I have a new found love for cutting on vellum! Here's the video process...

b is for book

This month's SpiegelMom theme is cut files and love.  I love cut files and this little man loves books. I took the book cut file which you can find in the shop , duplicated and welded to make a half page background. I added some Shimmerz paints in the background to add a little colour behind the books. My sequins are Southern Blue Bells and Nature Walk .  I also added a few acrylic stars from ColorCast Designs. And I finally opened this pack of foam thickers... they must have been in my stash for 6 years or more! Thanks for stopping by

Stashbusting: Patterned Paper and CVS

Challenges?  Well, scrappy challenegs for me include using patterned paper for backgrounds, filling up a lot of the page, using several patterns on one layout...  This layout does all of that!  I like it but I did struggle a lot!  I love my plain white backgrounds! This was a stash busting challenge with For The Love Of Pretty Paper. I also experimented with a folded cut file.  It is really fun and I want to do more.  I haven't found a way to share the cut file yet. Here's the process: Thanks for stopping by!

Stashbusting: Wood Veneer

I have a love hate relationship with wood veneer.  I apparently love to buy it and hate to use it!! So I aimed to use a whole bunch all on one layout and this is what happened!  The cut file and the majority of the wood are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I stuck to using white and the colour of the wood.  This helps to keep a clean and fresh look and keeps the focus on the wood (as well as the all important photo!) I added some white hand sewing for texture... and popped my title up on foam.  I love the way that this casts shadows. I also added a generous coat of irridescent splatters which show in real life much better than they show in the photos! Thanks for watching!

Thompson's Kit & SID

I'm back with a couple of cards for Stick It Down using my Thompson's Craft Supplies Mixed Media Kit.  I was rather fond of this sketch so I ended up making two cards!  First up, butterflies... I've added a little stamping and a die cut 'happy' which has been heat embossed. The second is similar but with hot air balloons.  These and the butterflies were cut from one sheet included in the kit - and I still have more usable icons to use for future projects.  I popped up the main image on some foam to give the card some more dimension. Here is the process for making them... DISCLAIMER:  I was sent this kit for free by Thompson's Craft Supplies as they are sponsoring Stick It Down this month.
