Ribbon Weaving

Hi Folks, I'm here today sharing a Crafty Ribbons DT ribbon weave clipboard with you... I've used some pastel shades of plain satin 9mm.  You can find this here on the Crafty Ribbons website.  The clipboard is clear perspex and I picked it up from Paperchase a few years ago. I'm no weaving expert - I think this is called Mad Weave.  This, presumably, is because it drives you mad trying to figure out how to do it!!  If you fancy a try you'll need lots of pins and a cork board bigger than the finished size of your weaving project. First of all, you'll need to set up your vertical ribbons.  I went in a random order just to give me lots of colour but lining your ribbons up in a certain order will give you different finished patterns.  Pin to your cork board enough ribbons to cover the width of your clipboard (or other surface - you can add weaving to pretty much anything!)  They should be as close together as possible and exactly vertical for...

never lose your SPARKLE

I've had so much fun playing with this frame... I covered the wood with a coat of gesso and then played with all my blue, silver and purple Shimmerz products.  You can find a selection here .  It was done in many layers allowing each one to dry fully before adding more. I treated the alphas with the same mists and stuck them to a piece of tinsel infused paper.  I then added as many sequins as I could!!  I used Sparkle Power , Wild and Free , Sweet Pea , Moonshine Delight and Silver Stardust. I'm not ashamed to admit that this sits above my desk and when I run out of ideas or I'm waiting for something to dry I pick it up and give it a little shake!!  It makes a good anti-stress toy! Bobby's Frame

I have another box frame to share... This one is 90% Cocoa Vanilla supplies... The wood star confetti and tiny star stickers are not CVS. I'm not the biggest fan of wood veneer shapes but the CVS collections always catch my eye... this hello banner is gorgeous! And I was pleased to use the vellum and acetate stars from the Totally Rad and Made of Awesome collections as a feature. No sequins in this one - he's not a fan - so I restrained myself.  I think I'd like it better with a few sequins in!! ;) Thanks for looking!

welly boots

I have a LOT of stencils.  My friend has just opened a new website selling stencils.  I don't use a lot of stencils.  I want a lot of the stencils on my friend's new website.  These four things don't sit all that well together... I need to have a sort through my stencils.  I have a theory that I buy what I like the look of without thinking about how I will use it.  I did this with paper at the beginning of my crafting adventure too, and it led to a huge cull!  Any way, this layout uses one of my stencils... along with a whole bunch of blue goodies dug out from my stash.  I love these kinds of layouts - they are not made with a collection or big brand supplies.  Rather they are a collection of tags from clothes I've bought, packaging, off cuts and snippets, doilies and labels with a few ribbons thrown in for good measure. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You Card

I'm filling in for a team mate over on the Stick It Down card team this month. As the sketch artist I usually mentally make a card whilst doing the sketch, so I challenged myself not to make the exact same card as my original idea.  (Although, I may have a go at making that too, it was a watercolour rainbow with vellum clouds...) Of course, I stuck with the rainbow theme because 'rainbow is the best colour!' Supplies:  White card blank, alpha stickers from Basic Grey, OHTO Graphic Liner pen , Swiss Dot Ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, red backed tape. I hope you can squeeze in time to take on this sketch and join us at Stick It Down !

let's be friends

This little cutie and his teddy bear reminded me I had the perfect flair stashed away... It is from Feed Your Craft and says let's be friends.  A perfect match for the photo, I think you'll agree. I kept it simple, black and white paper from Cocoa Vanilla and a handful of small embellishments, with blue thread and ink splats for a splash of colour.  I think I'd feel a little guilty if I made all of my layouts this bare but I do love the white space!

Scraplifting Kaez Mum...

The SpeigelMom Scraps guest designer this month is Jen Gagne aka Kaez Mum .  Here is one of her layouts that I found particularly inspiring... My take is just as colourful... I used a tonne of Shimmerz products to colour my background and some cardstock which I ran through my cameo.  With my twelve flowers and colourful splodges in place I added a few sequins in matching colours and made of frame of journalling around the edge. You can watch the process here...
