Advent Day 13: Ribbon Tree

Over at Crafty Ribbons Inspiration Ali is running an Advent event. Here is my contribution for today... These little trees are all over blogland, I found them here  but they are on loads of blogs because they are so awesome!!  :)     I've used stitched heart ribbon, 3mm in cranberry and forest , a cheap bag of wooden beads from  bargain bin and some KO thread.     The wooden beads were purple and orange - that totally didn't work! - so I gave them a couple of coats of acrylic paint to match them to the base colour of the ribbon.       I love that there was a 'pot' shaped bead and a 'trunk' shaped bead!  Thank you bargain bin find  :)       I doubled my ribbon up to a, give me a loop at the top and b, give a pattern on both the insides and outsides of the tree loops.       I kind of fell in love with the tree id...

WOYWW 184

Happy WOYWW people!! My 'desk' today is my floor...     I've been wrapping up pressies today.  Here are a few of the finished articles...     I tried to go all fancy with my wrapping until I got to the two small awkwardly shaped annoying little things!!  Grr!  Do pop over to Julia's to see more desks...  I just have a few tweaks to tomorrows post (which I am squeakingly excited to share!) and then I'll be over to look at some desks - see you there!!  :)

Advent Day 12 - Gift Bag

So for today's Crafty Ribbons Advent event I've decorated a gift bag...     Really simple - 6 pieces of ribbon varying in length stuck to the side of a plain kraft bag.    Don't forget to leave your name with Mr Linky each day for the chance to win one of the prizes.     Thanks for stopping by!

Winner & Black with Two LO

First of all the winner of my 111 giveaway is Cazzy .  Congratulations!  Thank you so much to those who left comments  :)  and Cazzy, could you email your address to me (email address on the sidebar) and I'll get your parcel off to you asap. And here is my layout for this months Black With Two challenge.  The theme is dominant black with silver, red and Christmas.  I used a Christmas photo but nothing else... no trees, no Merry Christmas, no Santa!  I needed to do something that wasn't too Christmassy!  I've been doing Advent projects for what feels like ages - I needed a break from Christmas crafting! I flicked around some silver paint on my black background...     I was sharpening my Martha Stewart punch (bizarrely it will punch perfectly on foil but struggles greatly on paper!  Any tips?) and it struck me that the foil birds would look great on a page... red glitter photo corner...   ...

Christmas Tag

Hi there! I've been getting messy and glittery and I'd like to share it with you...   a handmade poinsettia   metallic silver paint     distressed wooden buttons   fine red and chunky green glitter   just love these wooden buttons   lots of dimension It's quite different for me - there is no ribbon for a start! You see, I found a new challenge blog called Nicely Done Designs - you must use everything that is in their box.  This time it is corrugated card, twine, buttons, hand made flowers.  I thought I'd try to make a flower brooch out of corrugated card but it evolved in to a tag. I'd also like to enter in to these challenges/linky parties: Cupcake Craft - Christmas Crazy Challenge - Christmas Pile it on - Embellishments (buttons) Make it Monday - Anything goes Crafting By Design - mixed media (acrylic paint, glossy medium) Quirky Crafts - Christmas Tag Thanks for stopping ...

Advent Day 10: Christmas Earrings

Over at Crafty Ribbons Inspirations Ali is running an Advent event.  Here is my contribution for today...         Ribbon earrings!           I used a piece of this ribbon, beading thread (I tend to use KO thread, but nymo would do the job - normal sewing cotton is probably strong enough) a few colours of delica beads, a couple of Swarovski crystals, and findings.   Very simple to make and very light to wear. I discovered that they look better with long hair worn down.     I'd like to enter these in to:  Inspire me Fridays Glitter and Sparkle - Metal   (jumps rings and earring hook) Crazy Challenge - Christmas     Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Toys

Just sharing this card.  I must admit by the end I was wondering who on earth would have such a stupid idea... let's just say there was a lot of cutting involved and my scissors and I were no longer friends at the end!!         I used this collection of ribbons and created lots of depth.       It is quite effective though...       ...maybe I should make friends with my scissors again?!       And don't forget to leave a comment here for my giveaway!   Thanks for stopping by!
