WOYWW 163

Welcome to my desk this fine (looks out the window) ish Wednesday.
Hop on over here to Julia's to snoop at loads more desks.

Blank page ready to make a to-do-list...
Note the cutting board is clear but don't be fooled, the rest of the desk isn't.

Off cut of ribbon from yesterdays project...
I quite like the shape and may cut a few more to use on a scrapbook page.

Pile of things waiting to be put back in their proper places...
(This should be top of my to-do-list but strangely isn't...)

Last week I was asked about the white boxes at the back of my desk...

They are all full of yummy buttons.  A little obsession of mine.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm off to look at some desks now :)

    1. Haha! It'd take more than 5 minutes from Wiltshire to Sussex. No one can move that fast... not even for buttons!! The boxes came free with the buttons from Crafty Ribbons and I added a brad and bead to make the handles.

  3. Hi Laura, thanks for popping in to see me. I love your fabulous bead drawers and that the pulls match the colour of the button bounty within! Isn't it funny the things we decide to keep? The off cut of ribbon would make a fab addition to something! WOYWW Hugs from Helen 18

  5. Hi Laura,

That cut ribbon looks like it's a corner for a photograph. Your desk looks way too neat, can I come over and help mess it up!?!

Thanks for your visit earlier today.

  6. Wow... never throw anything away! Good motto, that. Sometimes you get something like that little ribbon offcut and your mind goes into overdrive, and you can see all sorts of possibilities! It looks like a little arrow head.

Your little drawers are lovely. I love the handles.

Thanks for visiting me - glad you like the result of my inky fun! You could probably dye fabric this way, but you couldn't use these particular inks because they are not permanent. I understand the Ranger colour washes are suitable for fabrics though, if they are heat-set.

  8. Oops, sorry Laura - I had to stop and eat in the middle of composing my comment to you, and forgot to answer your question! The Cougar is part of the Black Cat (now renamed Silver Bullet) range of professional plotter/cutter machines - you connect it to the computer and can design your own (or use ready made) files which can then be sent to the cutter, and it cuts them out for you. I started with the Cricut Expression but soon outgrew this as it didn't do all the ambitious things I wanted - it's fine as a basic craft cutter but if you want to have really accurate cutting, or cut thicker stuff, or draw with any pen, then it has its limitations. As well as cutting, it will emboss, engrave and draw.

  11. Hi Laura,
Hmm...to do lists! I keep making them then have to forward the details to the next day.
Someone's been in here an pinched my morning...hopefully I'll get to some creating this afternoon.
The cut ribbon is great and I'll be interested to see what you do if you make more.
Those drawers look so organised but then obviously that's the way you like to work by the look at your desk!
Thanks for visiting me earlier. Have fun with WOYWW! Neesie #13

  14. The white boxes are nice looking on their own but once we get to peek at what is inside, WOOT! Such lovely buttons and a great way to store them. I was thinking about creating a crafting to do list but decided that might be off-putting. I like the tidiness of your desk. I've crowded mine up to the point of no room to play, so real list or mental list, either way the first task is to find the desk!

Hello, Happy Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday !  As promised a picture of last Wednesdays 'work' finished off.  Post and more photos here . This week I'm showing off the beaded ATC I made... Tricky to photograph so your getting one with flash and one without... It was all parcelled up and sent off to Queen of Desks Julia .  Here is a basic of how it was made... (lots of waffle about wefts and warps!) I use a flexible beading needle.  It is mainly 'eye' so it is very easy to thread. And delica beads which are more regular and accurate than the better known seed bead.  They are slightly more rectangular than round so they line up better. Thread your needle with the weft thread.  (The cross ways thread that weaves back and forth.)  Pick up the beads... Pass the needlefull of beads underneath the warp (tight length ways) threads on the loom... ...and push each bead up in the corresponding g

Hoppity!

Hoppity hoppity!!  :) Hopeful you have arrived here from Fleur 's blog as part of the Crafty Ribbons Easter Hop .  If not and you've found yourself here wondering what on earth I'm on about (and let’s face it J you wouldn’t be the first!!) check out the Inspirations site for all the juicy details! My project for the hop is         Easter bunting!  I cut three templates first - a triangle pennant, a bird and a heart.        Then I cut the pennant shapes from fibre ribbon, threaded them on to some 3mm satin and evenly spaced them.  I embellished each flag with some beads...       I backed the birds and heart on some thin white card and glued them to the centre of the pennants.   My supplies list: yellow fibre , pink fibre , lime fibre , 3mm satin , button box , white card, glue, beads, needle and thread.   At each stop on the hop there'll be a word to collect and a candy draw. I've got these

WOYWW & Card Deck Swap

First up is my desk ... Hmm.  Perhaps the less said the better!  I really should have a sort out but I fancy desking instead! Next I want to share my card deck swaps (deskers don't have to stay for this bit but I reckon you'd enjoy joining in with us, which is why I'm including it in this post) You can read about the swap here on Jessica's blog and sign up here .  Basically, we take a deck of cards, add paint and/or paper, then add a positive sentiment to each card.  Post them to Jessica who shuffles them and sends back 52 different cards from different artists (yes, you are an artist!) from all over the world. These few are ones I have picked out to display first.  I'll swap them round after a few weeks.  Do you like my domino pegs?  :) Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll at least consider joining us for the card swap - it's like a super sized ATC swap, and all WOYWW er's know they are fun! See you at your desk x
