Scrapping Away

I did manage to do all the things I needed to do yesterday - woo for me!  So todays reward was a little scrappy time.

I've used my Like For Ever kit for August that has been sitting a little neglected.  It's a lovely kit though.  (Hoping for some more energy to get some more layouts made.)

At the end of last month I cut a whole load of files on my cameo.  Because I was switching between different types of cardstock one file got cut on the wrong settings.  I think I made it work though...

The sections that cut properly were few and far between - again totally my fault with the settings - so I selected a few ad finished off the cutting with my craft knife.  I went with more cut outs in the bottom corner and tailed off diagonally.  Then I grabbed all the non-pink papers, cutaparts and ephemera from my kit.  The cut file is from The Frugal Crafter.

I ended up with a lovely mix of green, greys, creams and blacks.  I randomly backed the semi circle shapes with small pieces of the card.

Some more of the ephemera pack was used to make a mat for the photo.  There were a few pops of mustard and a coral-ish colour and I knew I wanted to use a gold paper clip too.  Bearing these colours in mind I picked out some 3mm ribbon to use in the tags.  I struggled for exact matches so I pulled out my promarkers and boom - perfectly matched colours :)

I used the colourless blender first to saturate the ribbon and then added a little colour.  Then I went over again with the colourless blender.

I needed a little more gold so I popped a staple through the ribbons and coloured them in with a gold marker.  I really need to pick up some gold staples!  Enamel dots finished off the layout.  After what seems like ages without making a layout I am really pleased to be back making!

The reason for the break is Crafty Ribbons have been releasing their Christmas designs and getting ready for show season.  As part of my DT duties I have bee making samples to decorate the stand - it's all very exciting!  You can see all the new releases here (there are still more to be released), and stay tuned to my blog over the next few months to see my samples.  If you are going to any of these shows make sure to stop by the Crafty Ribbons stand.

  1. OMG Laura! This is a fabulous page and what a great save on the cut background! I would have been frustrated and thrown it away! Now I will look twice at my rejects. The papers look so different when used on a masculine layout, I have only done pinky feminine ones with this kit. I am hoping to get some scrapping done this weekend too. xx

WOYWW 159

Hello, Happy Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday !  As promised a picture of last Wednesdays 'work' finished off.  Post and more photos here . This week I'm showing off the beaded ATC I made... Tricky to photograph so your getting one with flash and one without... It was all parcelled up and sent off to Queen of Desks Julia .  Here is a basic of how it was made... (lots of waffle about wefts and warps!) I use a flexible beading needle.  It is mainly 'eye' so it is very easy to thread. And delica beads which are more regular and accurate than the better known seed bead.  They are slightly more rectangular than round so they line up better. Thread your needle with the weft thread.  (The cross ways thread that weaves back and forth.)  Pick up the beads... Pass the needlefull of beads underneath the warp (tight length ways) threads on the loom... ...and push each bead up in the corresponding g

Hoppity!

Hoppity hoppity!!  :) Hopeful you have arrived here from Fleur 's blog as part of the Crafty Ribbons Easter Hop .  If not and you've found yourself here wondering what on earth I'm on about (and let’s face it J you wouldn’t be the first!!) check out the Inspirations site for all the juicy details! My project for the hop is         Easter bunting!  I cut three templates first - a triangle pennant, a bird and a heart.        Then I cut the pennant shapes from fibre ribbon, threaded them on to some 3mm satin and evenly spaced them.  I embellished each flag with some beads...       I backed the birds and heart on some thin white card and glued them to the centre of the pennants.   My supplies list: yellow fibre , pink fibre , lime fibre , 3mm satin , button box , white card, glue, beads, needle and thread.   At each stop on the hop there'll be a word to collect and a candy draw. I've got these

WOYWW & Card Deck Swap

First up is my desk ... Hmm.  Perhaps the less said the better!  I really should have a sort out but I fancy desking instead! Next I want to share my card deck swaps (deskers don't have to stay for this bit but I reckon you'd enjoy joining in with us, which is why I'm including it in this post) You can read about the swap here on Jessica's blog and sign up here .  Basically, we take a deck of cards, add paint and/or paper, then add a positive sentiment to each card.  Post them to Jessica who shuffles them and sends back 52 different cards from different artists (yes, you are an artist!) from all over the world. These few are ones I have picked out to display first.  I'll swap them round after a few weeks.  Do you like my domino pegs?  :) Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll at least consider joining us for the card swap - it's like a super sized ATC swap, and all WOYWW er's know they are fun! See you at your desk x
