  2. Your desk is awesome and I agree re the colour swatches...I have done that for all mine too and I use them all the time to decide on colour. I used to have a tripod too for my camera but now have a cheap table light that you can remove the light and then add a camera attachment, so no legs in the way...hubby saw it on youtube lol. Thanks for popping to my blog :-) Dawn #19

  3. I'm late, I'm late for a very important date :-) I've been chasing my tail all day but have now managed to get to check out a few of my fav blogs :-)
I'm wondering what you've been using the tripod to snap today and whether you will be sharing it as a smile on Friday :-)

  15. What an interesting and busy desk! I love your colour swatch book - I've done the same but it's on scraps of paper in A4 wallets - I also name and number swatches of wool, yarn, ribbons etc etc - it's a really useful resource, but having seen yours I now feel the need to tidy mine up and get a proper notebook!! Oh dear, I'm also too lazy to get my tripod out and I end up using anything on hand to rest on - you are making me feel shameful!!! Hope you have a good week, and thanks so much for stopping by mine earlier,

  18. A nice busy desk, Laura, and what pretty cards! I am very interested in your swatch moleskine and would love some more info on that. Thank you for your lovely comment, and I'm certainly enjoying all these meals out, although it is making my diet suffer! We've never been out so much on the trot and my hubby says it's nice to see me enjoying a social life again after last year when pretty well all my outings ended up at the hospital.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  19. I like the idea of lots of swatches for different media, because watercolors are often different than acrylics. And heavy body acrylics are often different from fluid acrylics with the same name.

Somehow I don't understand the excessive cost for playing in this swap. Whenever I hosted a swap, I asked for two extra postage stamps more than what their package cost to get it to me. I know I also asked those who lived in other countries to wait till I weighed the swap before paypalling me. And I always used first class, not priority rate. I'm sure this is going to be a fun swap for you, but there's no way I'm padding some host's pocket, because I've hosted too many swaps. Thanks for stopping by earlier this week, because I've finally had time to visit you again.

    1. For me it works out as £14, and costs me £10.30p or £14.55 to post. She won't be lining her pockets with my money, especially once you have taken in to account tape and padded envelope. I believe the price is $20 so everyone all around the world pays equally - it may seem high to USA participants but less so to the rest of the world. I've never had any complaints with this swap (I've played 3 times before) and the art I receive is amazing, definitely worth it in my view!

  20. I'm not at all late getting here, me. No. Absolutely on time. Today is still Wednesday if I say it is, right? Hehehe

Love what's on your desk this week. I keep meaning to do colour swatches of all my inks and carry it around with me but somehow I fail/suck at this...

    Thanks for stopping by!

  21. Ooh, I am so pleased to have found your beautiful blog by way of WOYWW (even if I am running a little late this week!) Your desk looks wonderful - full of colour and creativity. Though I must admit that my mind is screaming 'stack those cards neatly'. < I wish I wasn't such a neat freak sometimes!

Hoppity!

Hoppity hoppity!!  :) Hopeful you have arrived here from Fleur 's blog as part of the Crafty Ribbons Easter Hop .  If not and you've found yourself here wondering what on earth I'm on about (and let’s face it J you wouldn’t be the first!!) check out the Inspirations site for all the juicy details! My project for the hop is         Easter bunting!  I cut three templates first - a triangle pennant, a bird and a heart.        Then I cut the pennant shapes from fibre ribbon, threaded them on to some 3mm satin and evenly spaced them.  I embellished each flag with some beads...       I backed the birds and heart on some thin white card and glued them to the centre of the pennants.   My supplies list: yellow fibre , pink fibre , lime fibre , 3mm satin , button box , white card, glue, beads, needle and thread.   At each stop on the hop there'll be a word to collect and a candy draw. I've got these

Hello, Happy Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday !  As promised a picture of last Wednesdays 'work' finished off.  Post and more photos here . This week I'm showing off the beaded ATC I made... Tricky to photograph so your getting one with flash and one without... It was all parcelled up and sent off to Queen of Desks Julia .  Here is a basic of how it was made... (lots of waffle about wefts and warps!) I use a flexible beading needle.  It is mainly 'eye' so it is very easy to thread. And delica beads which are more regular and accurate than the better known seed bead.  They are slightly more rectangular than round so they line up better. Thread your needle with the weft thread.  (The cross ways thread that weaves back and forth.)  Pick up the beads... Pass the needlefull of beads underneath the warp (tight length ways) threads on the loom... ...and push each bead up in the corresponding g

DMIO: Teach Me Something

A few weeks back I made a dream catcher.  A few readers asked if I could show them how I made it, so, here is my attempt at a tutorial! First up weaving the web. 1. You'll need a hoop and some ribbon/thread/yarn on a bobbin. 2. Attach the ribbon securely to your hoop. 3. Take your ribbon over the top of the hoop... 4. and up through the loop you've just made with the ribbon... 5. so you have a cross over. 6. Continue steps 3-5 until you reach the knot. 7. Now instead of going over the hoop you will crossover the ribbon 8. and through the loop you've just made to give a crossover. Continue on in this fashion until you get to the middle. You need to leave a hole in the middle as this is where the good dreams get through!  They then run down the tassels/feathers/any other hanging decoration and on to the owner.  It should look something like this.  You'll need to play around with your tension until you get a firm web. Now for the tassels - I like to
