WOYWW # 150

Welcome to my desk! It's football crazy this week...

I'm working on a mini album (my first!) of my visit to Anfield in 2004.
It's not turning out how I envisioned it.  It's more distressed, less pretty.
But I think I like it.  And I'm having fun making it...

By the way, last weeks planned tidy didn't really happen.
I thought about it.
A lot.
The floor is a bit tidier.
Anyway back to the desk...

You'll never walk alone lyrics for inspiration...

Various tools... football brads...

the club crest... various red, white and black bits'n'bobs...
football ribbon which I'm desperate to include somehow but it might not work now as it's evolved from the original design...

paints... my trusty craft knife...
a 'carve your own postcard' postcard (I'm going to do something on it for a male friends birthday - I thought it was a bit different!)
and some button rub ons which I've left on my desk to make myself use them (hasn't worked yet!!)  Anyone know if they work on perspex?  I have another mini album lined up after this one.
I'm trying to be strict with myself and only have two projects on the go at once  (the theory is it will make me tidier) and seeing as I also have a beading project on the go the perspex album will have to wait...

If you are wondering why I'm showing you my desk check out Julia's.  I like the sound of the birthday ATC swap.  Never made an ATC before...

Thanks for stopping by, YNWA

  4. My kind of desk - football and crafty! Lol but not the right team for me I'm afraid. Though I have been to Anfield to watch my boys(Bristol Rovers)back in the 90's for a FA Cup replay. How about making a football rosette type thingy with the ribbon? Take care & enjoy this weeks WOYWW snoop. Zo xx 17

  6. Looks a great start to that mini and I agree, it's so important you actually enjoy what you are doing. Things never go quite to plan I find....

Have a great week and enjoy this special WOYWW!

  7. Don't worry about being tidy, if it helps you should always have 2 things on the go - more fun that way. I don't see why rub-ons should not work on perspex, try using an old rub on first as a trial. Lovely football pieces you have there. Regards, Anne #30

  8. Ah, you're talking to the queen of prevarication here :D I think a lot about tidying up too, but amazingly, it never seems to get done, lol!!! Funny, that, isn't it?? Your Anfield LO is going to be fun when it's done.

  10. Hi Laura,

I's interesting how things evolve, sometimes not the way we intended. I bet your mini album comes out looking great.

I love rub ons. I use them on my canvases all the time. They are hard to find at the two craft stores that I go to. The last that I bought were from amazon.com.

    Thanks for sharing your desk!

    Happy WOYWW

  12. The do work on perspex but aren't so resistant to being rubbed off in wear and tear.I think the album will be fab,, and I'm pretty sure the ribbon can have its place - even just to tie it shut! I'm a one job at the time gal and still am pathologically incapable of working tidily, so I shall look forward to seeing if you think your new modus operandi is helpful!

  13. Well, you're certainly well prepared. I love You'll Never Walk Alone song - even though I must admit I'm an Arsenal fan.

Thanks for already visiting my desk this week.

It sounds like a great project and sometimes just going with the flow you end up creating something completely different to how you envisaged it but equally beautiful.

WOYWW 159

Hello, Happy Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday !  As promised a picture of last Wednesdays 'work' finished off.  Post and more photos here . This week I'm showing off the beaded ATC I made... Tricky to photograph so your getting one with flash and one without... It was all parcelled up and sent off to Queen of Desks Julia .  Here is a basic of how it was made... (lots of waffle about wefts and warps!) I use a flexible beading needle.  It is mainly 'eye' so it is very easy to thread. And delica beads which are more regular and accurate than the better known seed bead.  They are slightly more rectangular than round so they line up better. Thread your needle with the weft thread.  (The cross ways thread that weaves back and forth.)  Pick up the beads... Pass the needlefull of beads underneath the warp (tight length ways) threads on the loom... ...and push each bead up in the corresponding g

Hoppity!

Hoppity hoppity!!  :) Hopeful you have arrived here from Fleur 's blog as part of the Crafty Ribbons Easter Hop .  If not and you've found yourself here wondering what on earth I'm on about (and let’s face it J you wouldn’t be the first!!) check out the Inspirations site for all the juicy details! My project for the hop is         Easter bunting!  I cut three templates first - a triangle pennant, a bird and a heart.        Then I cut the pennant shapes from fibre ribbon, threaded them on to some 3mm satin and evenly spaced them.  I embellished each flag with some beads...       I backed the birds and heart on some thin white card and glued them to the centre of the pennants.   My supplies list: yellow fibre , pink fibre , lime fibre , 3mm satin , button box , white card, glue, beads, needle and thread.   At each stop on the hop there'll be a word to collect and a candy draw. I've got these

WOYWW & Card Deck Swap

First up is my desk ... Hmm.  Perhaps the less said the better!  I really should have a sort out but I fancy desking instead! Next I want to share my card deck swaps (deskers don't have to stay for this bit but I reckon you'd enjoy joining in with us, which is why I'm including it in this post) You can read about the swap here on Jessica's blog and sign up here .  Basically, we take a deck of cards, add paint and/or paper, then add a positive sentiment to each card.  Post them to Jessica who shuffles them and sends back 52 different cards from different artists (yes, you are an artist!) from all over the world. These few are ones I have picked out to display first.  I'll swap them round after a few weeks.  Do you like my domino pegs?  :) Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll at least consider joining us for the card swap - it's like a super sized ATC swap, and all WOYWW er's know they are fun! See you at your desk x
