The Craft Barn alpha challenge continues... we must be nearly a quarter of the way through? This fortnight the challenge was set as S with a shell.
I had wanted to do a skylark for S - one of my favourite birds, but one I've not drawn before. Well, that wasn't going to match with a shell! I settled on Shrimp.
I may be pushing the 'shell' part for some people. But it does have a shell - a carapace, in fact - meaning a shell that covers the head and thorax which are fused as one. Not your traditional shell, I agree, so understand if you feel the need to disqualify me!
I found it so difficult to find photos of these creatures *ahem* not on a plate!
But I did find a few and managed this little chap...
Quite cute little things really!
Thanks for stopping by!
Your usual FABULOUS painted pages!!! I got the shell part immediately! Kudos for leaving it like this and not adding seashells. I so love your painted pages. I know I say this every time, but I just can't help saying it again with each new painted page I see.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'll forgive you as this is a superb drawing and painting of a (I was going to say shrimp but it looks like a langoustine with the front claws) crustacean! The bit of sand at the bottom is great too and completes this lovely page.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant artwork as always and I think it's great you thought outside the box for your shell.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shrimp! He looks great. As for the shell, nothing was specified. It never said a sea shell. As I read it could have been a peanut shell, a turtle shell or a lobster shell. As it was S, I think we all read it as sea shell. I think you did a great job and you twist is rather refreshing!
ReplyDeleteYour painting always wows me and this is not exception! The little shrimp is gorgeous and the same beneath has so much texture. I definitely think your variation on the shell theme counts, he is a shellfish after all! Lou x
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous painting!
ReplyDeleteA brilliant painting. Love everything about it xxx
ReplyDeleteI can't begin to imagine anyone would disqualify you for thinking outside the box. After all, a shell is a SHELL, and a shrimp has a shell. Your shrimp is incredibly well drawn, too. I'm always amazed at your incredible drawings, Laura. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is awesome. So beautifully drawn. Fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteI do envy your talent for drawing and painting! This is a superb page and well done for thinking outside the box regards the shell twist. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous page, love your drawing of the shrimp.
ReplyDeletelovely, lovely! and a shell is a shell, great out of the box thinking I would say.
ReplyDeleteFabulous artwork and a great choice of word in order to incorporate a shell on your page.
