Blues and Greens

This fortnights challenge at Crafty Ribbons is Blue and Green as set by the lovely Gina.     Now I haven't exactly done much here... it wasn't exactly hard work!  I emptied a few boxes of buttons in to a glass jar.  Then I tied a ribbon around the top.     The thing is, I quite like it.  And most of us have tonnes of craft stuff so putting a selection of anything in to a nice shaped glass container to pretty up a room is easily done.  This jar has candle hooks too and the buttons look great with the candle glow above them.  Last year I had red and gold baubles for Christmas, before that I had sand and shells.          What can you make with green and blue?  Join us over at Crafty Ribbons Challenge...

Advent Day 24 - Canvas

Do you think he will see it?!  Maybe I could have made it brighter..?  :)       This is my project for Day 24 of Ali's Advent event .  Boy did I have fun!       First I gathered all my neon bits, then I smiled, the I started painting and getting messy!!       I stuck a Father Christmas peel off down and spread some texture gel over the top and peeled the sticker off.  Mixed some texture gel and paint and used a squeezy bottle and underlined the words       The foam letters looked really black so I rubbed a bit of white paint in to them.       I added a few tatty offcuts off ribbon along the bottom and to one side.   Again, I always say this when I photograph neon things, it is brighter in real life.  Very bright!   And I will be popping this in my window tonight and hoping he does i...

Advent Day 22 - Gift Bag II

Welcome to day 22 of Crafty Ribbons Advent party !   For today I have altered a small organza gift bag.  It came with plain silver ribbon for the handles.  I took it out and replaced it with some of this .     Then I used a running stitch and matching threads to attach a small piece of the Christmas tree ribbon from the vintage collection .       Perfect for one of my Nan's little gifts!       Thanks for stopping by!

Advent Day 20: Hanging Angel Decorations

Welcome along to my project for day 20 of Crafty Ribbons Advent event .     I bought these wire shapes years back because I knew I would use them one day!      I have suspended pearly seed beads in the angels with beading wire.       I used white and dove seam binding to make the bows and hanging loops.  This stuff is great because it takes paint and mica and ink and pretty much anything else you throw at it.  I mixed up a couple of mists, one pearly white and one silver, and randomly spritzed the seam binding.  I dried it off with a heat gun and then spritzed another layer on.

WOYWW 185

Here is my desk for this weeks WOYWW...         Lots of stuff but not much of anything in particular.  Under the ink pad is a half done project.  I was thinking when I started it would be a DT piece in which case you wouldn't be able to see it but now I think I've changed my mind and I'm just not sure it's good enough to be seen!  Ever have things turn out not like you planned?!   I might leave it for today and make a Christmas ATC for Miss 10 instead.       I hope Julia doesn't mind me tagging this in to my WOYWW post...   Please pop over to Damask Love to read about a great campaign to help those effected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary.  They are raising art kits for the kids who were caught up in the awful situation - accepting US $ donations, new supplies and handmade cards to accompany the kits.

Advent Day 19: Glass Dish

Welcome along to my project for day 19 of Crafty Ribbons Advent event .     I've had this triangular glass dish for a while now...  I had two and played with mulberry paper on the other - sorry no pictures - this was before I was a blogger.     I used some sheer wide ribbon with lovely glittery snowflakes on.  I used spray glue to stick it on, glitter glue along the edges to help seal the ribbon on to the glass and finally sprayed with some canvas sealant that I have for my art work.  I wouldn't recommend washing it so it's uses are limited but it looks fab with lit tea lights... or filled with brightly coloured wrapped sweets like Roses or Quality Streets.      Thanks for dropping in and if you have a spare minute pop over to Inspirations and enter to win some advent prizes!

Advent Day 17 - Chocolate Tree Decorations

Welcome along to my project for day 17 of Crafty Ribbons Advent event .     Super simple...  tiny Green and Blacks chocolate bars tied up in   Little Christmas ribbon .      ...and hung on the tree!     You're only getting a photo of half the tree because the other half isn't decorated!!  :D     Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to the inspiration site to enter for advent prizes

Advent Day 15: Tin Pot

Over at Crafty Ribbons Inspiration Ali and Mandy are running an Advent event. Pop over to be in with a chance of winning oodles of prizes... Here is my contribution for today...     I love this lace .  I want to use it on everything but I don't want to use it at the same time because if I use it it will be gone.  (Are you following?!)  Sigh.       The buttons are from the Christmas Berry Button Box       They were all glued on to the tin pot with a glue gun.  Quick and easy and perfect for dressing up poinsettia pots this Christmas.       Thanks for stopping by

Advent Day 14: Pine Cones

Continuing the goodies for Crafty Ribbons Inspiration Advent Event here are the details of my door decoration... Really simple, 3 massive pine cones with eyelets screwed in too their bottoms!  Sale ribbon tying them up... This gorgeous pine cone ribbon fashioned in to a massive bow... it had to be big to match the cones!!     I'm not that good at tynig bows so it is 4 separate pieces of ribbon!       Hope you've enjoyed looking...   Thanks for stopping by
