Doodle Ribbon

Woohoo!  I can finally share the latest Crafty Ribbons ribbon range with you all... I am in love with Bruce the Reindeer - it's true love, I tell ya! I have a quick card to share using some of the ribbon mixed with kraft... I think it is the perfect combination! I hope you like this range as much as I do! Join me tomorrow for World Card Making Day... (it is a real thing!)

Snowman Tag

Oh Crafty Ribbons, how do you make such lovely ribbons every year?  These snowmen are amongst my favourites of this years characters.  I'll introduce you to my most favourite soon, I promise! This is a fun gift tag using some tag ribbon , Santa's grotto , lace and bling edge 3mm , a piece of the best paper in the world - mint stars from Cocoa Vanilla Studios and a blank tag from SpiegelMom Scraps. Thanks for stopping by!

star

Here is a layout I made a couple of weeks ago for a mood board posted in the like for ever subscribers facebook group. I adore how it turned out! This was the background before the layers went on.  I cleaned my stencil on to the paper with a baby wipe... stop laughing!  It's a legitimate technique, it just sounds daft! Unfussy layers and tucked in die cuts.  Mostly ingredients from the like for ever kit, a bit of tissue paper and some packaging too... don't forget to check your packaging for pretty bits before you recycle it - that little scalloped piece is from the enamel dot packaging I think. I added a few sequins, enamel dots and paint splatters.  The star cut files are from Cocoa Vanilla Studios. I seem to be loving yellow at the moment.  I've been crushing on navy for a while now and pairing it with yellow is just so perfect. Oh yes, and there is the wood word tile.  I have a huge pack and I'm trying to work at least one...

by the sea

Are you guilty of having something in your stash that has sat unused for years?  I am - lets pull those unloved supplies out and use them!  I have had the stencil I used for my background on this layout for SpiegelMom Scraps for years... possibly 6?  Maybe more!! I grabbed three colours of Dazzlerz texture paste - Gummy Berry Blue, Sour Apple Green and Lemon Drop Yellow.  I used the three colours separately through the stencil leaving a little gap in between the colours.  I then came back to the gaps and filled them with a mixture of the two colours from either side.  I have found the key to clean stencilling is to manipulate the paste as little as possible.  The more times you  go over it with a palette knife the more opportunity for the paste to spread underneath the stencil (as my sour apple did). My photo layers are all from Pretty Little Studio. I then gathered some matching sequins.  Let's Be Mermaids was a...

Stashbusters - Alphas

Hello and welcome to the second Stashbusters YouTube Hop! (Well, the corresponding blog post...)  Just a bunch of YouTubers scrapping on a theme, for fun, and to give you ideas and inspiration. This month we are tackling left over alphas...  When I have a sheet of alphas that looks like this I run them through wordsolver.net  which gives me options on available words... I'll use squawking on a layout about Herbert Budgie later, but for now HOLIDAY and H O C are in my sights! I've also made up a couple of cheat sheets for alphas... With a little imagination and a pair of scissors it's amazing what can be turned in to what!  Obviously it changes slightly with different fonts, and these are not the only options, but it's a great resource to refer to to kick start that lateral thinking mode. In my case I had H O and C left over.  I decided to snip these up and use the curves as scalloped edging and the straights as confetti. I ...

Friday Smiles

Here is a little shot from my video tripod looking down on to my work space.  Clearly not much crafting going on but it looks so pretty!! Linking up at Annie 's - (if I remember to link it up!  Doh!)

70% COCOA

It is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons !  This weeks theme is Sweet Treats - my favourite!! I have made a layout using like for ever 's In Bloom kit from June and added some lace from Crafty Ribbons . I've used some Clermont in Shocking .  And isn't that paper clip fun?  Still love shaped paper clips! I went for an epic title rather than journalling.  It is just the details of the drink I have when I make it to Chococo . And I added two shades of Morlaix lace too -  just peeping out from under my paper layers adding wonderful texture. Thanks for joining me today and I hope to see you over at Crafty Ribbons !

On Yer Bike

Here is a fun layout using the like for ever September kit and a Simon Says Stamp stamp . I saw Kristina Werner using the stamp and just fell in love, I ordered it and then remembered I can NOT stamp!!  I generate a LOT of imperfect prints, seconds, some are usable though... I salvaged this background and built the layout up from there. I stuck to the triangle theme and fussy cut the yellow paper from the kit.  I used them as layers behind my matted photo. There is a huge pack of wood words in the kit - I have no idea how I will use them all!  So it has become a goal, of sorts, to get some on every page this month! A made a flag using a cocktail stick and a piece of ephemera.  I added in some gorgeous cork chevrons from SpiegelMom Scraps too, just because! This was a fun one to make, which I guess is the main point of all crafting... so I'm calling it a success! Here is the process video: Thanks for stopping by!

Triangles

I've been on the Crafty Ribbons design team for years now, and I thought I knew the stock ribbons inside out.  I was nosing around on the website and I came across these cute mini heart ribbons . I had no idea they existed!  Even if you are a regular Crafty Ribbons customer it's always worth having a bit of browse through the categories - who knows what you will find!  So I have learnt my lesson, and I hope you can cash in on my new wisdom too! I put my new-to-me ribbons to use straight away on this water-coloured card... The stamp is from Simon Says Stamp and I have painted it with watercolours.  I've then mounted the panel to a card blank with foam adhesive and used seam binding in citrine and heart ribbon in blue mist to jazz up the front. Thanks for stopping by!

The one Bea made for me!!

I'm calling this layout 'the one Bea made for me' - let me explain...  Bea Valint made an amazing cut file.  I was a little bit too lazy to cut it 'actual size' as it is such an intricate file, I knew I wouldn't be up to getting it off the cutting mat in one piece!  So I enlarged it and cut a portion of it.  When I got it off the mat it was so gorgeous that the layout practically made itself! I splashed some watercolour around on the background to give the cut file something to sit on.  I then stared at it for a good ten minutes - so pretty!! I picked a photo of me gardening.  Mum and Dad put a table over my wheelchair and brought all the pots and compost to me so I could join in.  It was the first time I had been outside in ages and it was so good to get dirty hands! I used a few stickers, enamel dots (from the latest like for ever kit) and matching thread to embellish a little . I kept it simple because it was all it needed! ...

wheel

I had had a bit of a play with Shimmerz Dazzlerz doing a little colour mixing.  I had some left over so I smeared it across a blank sheet of cardstock with the intention of adding to and eventually it becoming a background.  Well, I rather liked the starkness of the smear and ended up using it as is rather than adding to it! I added some acetate and paper by Pretty Little Studio and some of the Lucky Charm sequin mix. I loved that at the bottom of the bag of sequin you sometimes get the middle of the sequins or 'sequin glitter' as I call it.  I added these to the layout too! So today's lessons are: Grab all your Dazzlerz and mix them on a pallete - they mix wonderfully and you can custome colours until your heart is content! Never throw away the last bits of a paint/paste mixing session - just get it on to paper and it can be used as a background or layering piece, or even cut/punched in to shapes. Use EVERYTHING that comes in the packet of sequins!! ...

A Catch Up!

Well, it's been a slow week when it comes to blogging...  I've been a busy bee though.  The first of the big craft fairs for this season is fast approaching and that means the Crafty Ribbons design team have been making lots of new samples to adorn the exhibition stall.  So far two new ranges have been released and my samples have safely arrived in Dorset ready for their debut next week. Today I have had a little time to sit down and make something just for me... but what did I pick to work with?  Yep, the new Christmas ribbons!  I was thoroughly inspired by MUSE this week... and this is my take on their design.  Just wasn't brave enough to go for black so I stuck to the traditional white! Thanks for stopping by!
