Alpha Challenge - H for Hare

Every other Sunday I eagerly await what the next letter will be...  Of course I'm talking about The Craft Barn's fab Alpha Challenge .  It's H this fortnight... and H is for Hare. And this time I used gesso instead of acrylic paint.  Can anyone tell me what the difference is?  So far the only thing I can see is my acrylic paint is much thicker than the gesso.  Also this is my first play with some stencils.    I'm quite chuffed with this sketch.  I got a bit stuck at the bottom with his feet so I just put in some grass to cover them up.  Cheating?  Most definitely!!  :)     And then there is this cheeky chappy peeping out at the bottom of the page.  I used a posca paint pen to add in the white whiskers which really adds to the sketch.  I think I have found a new favourite with this white pen...     Thanks for stopping by... and as always a huge thank...

Chocolate LO!!!

The challenge at Quirky's this week is Chocolate... In fact 'Life is a quirky box of chocolates' This may be the best challenge EVER!!     This double layout is my homage to chocolate!  I gathered up loads of chocolate stuff that I have.  Wrappers, reciepts, tasting menu, members card, chocolate covered paper, the transparency from inside a box of chocs and two  different ribbon s.  The frame was cut from a magazine advert for a framing company.       Also linking up with APR Thanks for stopping by  :)

WOYWW 193

Aah, today's desk is pretty much covered with untouched stuff... hopefully I'll get to do some making today... or at least a little bit of shuffling stuff from side to side!!  Maybe even a little putting stuff away... Trying an upcycling project.  Still not sure exactly where it is going but I'm looking forward to finding out!! If you are wondering why I am showing you my desk pop over here to Julia's to see what it's all about...

WW1 - Pink and Hearts

The challenge for February at White With 1 is White + Pink + Hearts. Of course it is... very Valentine-y.  I don't have any lovey photos of people *insert sad face here* but I think this photo captures the love of ice cream rather well! I've used my favourite technique for the title.  Writing with glue on to a non stick mat and covering with glitter.     The pennants are from a birthday card I was sent.  Of course, I didn't throw it out as I knew one day I'd make use of it... it only took 8 months to use!!  The card was cream so I ran a little magenta India ink over it to keep with the colour theme.  I used the spare ink left in the paint brush on the background. I used the spine of an old notebook, stretched it out and formed a circle with it.  I attached it to the photo with heart brads from my stash.   And balanced the page with a small cluster at the bottom.  The ice cream button ...

Yummy Neon Bracelet!

At Crafty Ribbons Challenge this fortnight it is Anything Goes WITH RIBBON.  In fact every other fortnight it will be this theme which I'm excited about because we should get a wider selection of crafts not just cards.  Although I do love seeing all the cards... So I decided I needed another bracelet... Of course it needed to be neon. So I took some satin ribbon (you could try using black satin 3mm, key lime 3mm, and neon orange 3mm  [The actual ribbons are not on the website as Ali hasn't come across anyone quite as mad as me when it comes to neon!!]) and a three strand slide clasp... I tied a few knots at regular intervals... et voila!     This is going to be my bracelet of the summer.  Just need to wait for summer to arrive now!     Don't forget anything you have made in the last week or will make in the next week that has ribbon on it can be entered HERE , go on, you know you want to ...

Alpha Challenge - E for Eagle

Today brings you the letter E...  It's the Craft Barn's Alpha Challenge again. Still loving this challenge :) I used white acrylic paint watered down slightly as a light base.  Then I used a combination of drawing pencils, blendable coloured pencils and watercolour pencils.  I've found that just going for it without thinking too much helps me... if I think I get nervous about going wrong. It took me ages to find a photo of an egg but then, bingo, a picture and all this information about the eggs and nest and well, I'd just forget it if I didn't write it down, so on it went!  I drew the egg to scale (ish... but shush, ;) don't tell anyone it's a couple of mm out!!) filled it in with acrylic and roughed up the surface to give it a texture.     I've decided I need to get better at feet and claws... I've started another C page for claws so I can get some extra practice through the year! I've bee...

WOYWW 192

So on my desk today, this wonderful WOYWW , is... Well actually I had to move a pile of stuff first because it hasn't been released yet.  This is what is left... Awesome winnings from Joynana , a card that should have been written and posted already (oops!) Neon glittered glue words... Also this ridiculously big and beautiful flower... It got so heavy that the stem just gave up and snapped!  I now have it in a large coffee mug on my desk, it's rather distracting because it is so gorgeous! Hop on over to Julia's for heaps more desks... Thanks for stopping by -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: I've just been given the go ahead to share...  This is what was on my desk... Check out the knitted ribbon and the cotton reels - I've had so much fun playing with them - Ali at Crafty Ribbons has come up trumps again!
