Easter Garden

Today my project is being featured on Inspirations – my first post for the blog. When I got my date for Inspirations I thought it was quite near Easter and tried to come up with an Easter craft.   There are so many Christmas crafts but not so many for Easter it seems… We used to make Easter gardens at Sunday school and youth group; I always enjoyed making them and thought I’d revive my love  but with a ‘ribbony’ twist.     I started with a piece of polystyrene cut to a rectangle.   I glued a couple more bits of polystyrene together for the hill and carved it to shape with my craft knife.   Then I took a thicker piece of polystyrene and carved it in to a tomb.   My tomb stone is a vintage button from my Grandma’s button box. David | Goliath | God

    Having done a study on David and Goliath I felt the need to paint what I had learnt.  The blurb is what I displayed with the artwork followed by a few Bible verses...         David was tiny and insignificant, as we may sometimes feel.     Goliath represents our problems and fears which can look enormous and far too big to tackle.   God is enormous, loving, giving, colourful, amazing… you can’t actually put God into words.   What we do know is that God is much bigger than our problems and is always on our side.     A rainbow reminds us of God’s promises to us; it is a symbol of hope and is absolutely awesome, just like God.   As I painted this picture I saw David as the small pale rectangle; Goliath, twice David’s size, as the bronze rectangle and God depicted as a rainbow, so much bigger.     1 Samuel chapter 17 verses 4-7 ...
