Card Making | Stick It Down

Here's my first card of 2024, based on the January sketch from Stick It Down. I feel I've stuck pretty faithfully to the sketch for this one. The die set is an oldy from Pinkfresh Studio and the sentiment stamps are from Alex Syberia.  All the patterned papers are old scraps from the box of doom. I started out thinking just three or five confetti sequins but I got well and truly carried away!  They add a subtle iridescent shine.  In the photos they lean towards pink but in the flesh they mostly flash green and blue matching the leaves and stamping perfectly. Stick It Down runs as a Facebook group now.   Do pop over and join if you'd like to be kept in the loop.

Viva Magenta and More

I always look out for the Pantone colour of the year announcement.  I was a little disappointed to see 'magenta' because in my mind that is pink and it is no secret I don't like the colour pink.  However I had a look at the Pantone website and the more I looked at the colour Viva Magenta the less pink it looked.   Maybe I can get on board with this years colour! To my eye, from looking at a screen, it shows as fairly red.  It has bluey undertones but really doesn't read as pink.  I looked through my inks and found the best matches were Distress Oxide Lumberjack Plaid and Gina K Cherry Red.  When I looked through my patterned papers I found my best match were from some old Doodlebug 6x6 petite print packs. I have thrown these together with this month's Stick It Down sketch and come up with this card   Alphabet dies from Heffy Doodle; birthday stamp and die from Alex Syberia Designs. I've not hit the colour spot on, I know, but it's what I can do with wh...

Stick It Down

Hello!  Here's my take on December's Stick It Down sketch...     I'm a fan of this sketch (if I can say that about my own sketch?!) as it is so versatile.   I have switched the circles out for tags.  I reckon the design will work for the majority of shapes - I quite fancy having a go with stars.  The challenge would be finding a photo that would crop well.   I have been enjoying my advent calendar this month.  I've got a couple of mini blending brushes which I was keen to try out.  I pulled out a Skull and Cross Buns stencil and a few Pinkfresh inks and had some pastel fun for the background.  Wanting to carry on play with the blending brushes I coloured up a few white tags too.  My attempts at ombre blending were iffy but I'm pleased with them nonetheless. I added detailing to the tags and background using a couple of Jen Schow stamp sets and a grey ink.  I thought black ink would be too harsh with the pastel colour pale...

Stick It Down | StickerKitten | PLAY

Here's my take on this month's Stick It Down sketch... I've used papers from StickerKitten , mists from Shimmerz along with one colour shine and some freebie acrylic stamps. I am really not a fan of acrylic stamps.  Photopolymer or rubber are brilliant - I have never had a decent impression with acrylics.  I persevered with these and got something that was OK for background interest.   As you'll see in the video I cut these banner clusters twice.  The first set were perfectly even fishtails... but too big so I trimmed them down.  My trimming was not as precise so I'll say I was going for the wonky look!  Here's the video: Hope to see you over at Stick It Down

Stick It Down

I currently have a giveaway running on my YouTube channel celebrating the milestone of 1000 subscribers.  Check it out here: https://youtu.be/Itt7SZ1FUVY Two layout video combos from me today... here is my Stick It Down layout.  I adapted the sketch to work for 3x4 photos on a 9x12 base. The papers are from StickerKitten's Pretty Stitches range and are the perfect colours to match Lego bricks. The lego brick stamps are from Skull and Cross Buns and have been stamped with Distress Oxide inks and fussy cut out. Check out the process video here:

Stick It Down | Rainbow Again

Here is my take on Stick It Down 's May single page sketch.  As always do check out the Stick It Down site for a double page sketch and a card sketch plus a tonne of inspiration from the design team. I have gone rainbow coloured again.  If there's an option to go rainbow at the moment I definitely will!  I've used a cut file from Pretty My Page.  (If it's not linked then it hasn't been released just yet.)  Perhaps the best part of creating a rainbw layout is the flicking through of stash, whether that is cardstock, embellishments or, in this case, patterned papers.  I wanted to add a couple of tiny word stsickers but they were different shades of black and different fonts.  They just didn't look right together.  Instead, I spelt out the two phrases with tiny tile alphas. Embellishing was kept simple and minimal.  Just a sprinkling of rainbow sequins and a black and white camera sticker. Embellishing so minimally lets...

Stick It Down | Little Rumblesaurus

Stick It Down are sponsored by Handipaper this month.  I bought these cute dinos from them a few months back and this was the perfect opportunity to play... Here's the sketch we are working to this month... I cut the dinos on some striped papers from Pretty Little Studio.  The stencil and stamp are from Skull and Cross Buns. This was the layout of mistakes... I miss-stencilled, the washi tape holding the stencil tore the cardstock and I dropped an ink pad face down on the page!  Everything is fixable in scrapping though.  The title covered the stencilled oops; the washi covers the tear; the inky mess was torn off and led to the orange strip at the bottom which I ended up loving. Googly eyes.  Yep, we need to start a thing.  Let's get googly eyes trending in scrapbooking! I also have a second layout inspired by the sketch and using a Handipaper cut file (along with a border cut file that I made.) I've used mainly my Quirky...

Stick It Down | March Sketch and Layout

Hey guys!  I am here with my Stick It Down layout today. I kept pretty much to the sketch this month except for the sizing - and honestly that was a mistake!  Here's the sketch... I have used supplies from my Cocoa Vanilla stash along with cardstock and vellum from Papermill Direct.  The cut file is a new one from me and is available over at Pretty My Page as both a download and a pre-cut. ( Download here .  Pre-cut here .) I added some sewing.  I love the look of French knots but I always need a refresher on how to form them! Now, that mistake I mentioned... I intended the layout to be 12x12 but as I was nearing the end I realised that rather than intended white space it just looked like I had left a great big gap to the right of my page.  It was easily solved by chopping down to a 9x12 layout.  As I say in my video I mix in all sorts of sizes in my albums so I'm fine with it not being 12x12.  If I don't have a page protec...
