Tropical Brights

Goodness, the colours in StickerKitten's Tropical Brights collection are scrummy! I've used a couple of dies and my Gemini Junior.  The Leafy Garland is from Altenew and the butterflies are from Dove Craft. I've added in some sequins (some from SpiegelMom Scraps and some from StickerKitten.) And I LOVE how it looks all together!

Guest Designing for Quirky Kits

I was struck by the gorgeous autumnal colours featured in the Quirky Kit I was sent to work with.  What better way to show them off than with leaves and acorns?  It also meant I got to play with my new toy, a Gemini Junior.  It turns out I quite like die cutting!  I also fussy cut a few of the leaf sprigs from the Pink Fresh Mesa paper. I based my layout on a sketch I had drawn up earlier this year. I fixed the leaves in place with a little glue and then ran the layout through my sewing machine using a couple of different coloured threads.  My favourite part of my guest designer package was the Custom Cards - so much so that I have signed up.  I pulled a few of my favourite cards to layer behind my photo and to cut into a heart shape embellishment. In the Pink Fresh Mesa paper there are a few pops of acid yellow that really zing amongst the other colours.  I added in some tangled thread and a few sequins from my stash in the same colour....

Silk Ribbon Leaves

This project started with one idea, circled through a couple more ideas and ended up being one of my favourite creations so far this year. I started with some heart confetti cut on my Silhouette Cameo and Rose Gold Red Vibez from Shimmerz.  I was inspired by my friend Mary to have a good at a bokeh-type background.  You can see how in the video posted below. That was just playing with no plan in place for the finished piece.  I decided to go the ribbon route and make it a DT piece for Crafty Ribbons.  I picked a few ribbons and dyed them with the same spray. I then decided it needed some green, and what better than some silk leaves... I also added silk twists to the centre of my vellum flower.  I'd have used french knots if I knew how to do them ;) I used the following ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:  Organza Swiss Dots ; Seam Binding ; Silk Ribbons . Here is the process: Thanks for stopping by! Crafty Ribbons are runnin...

My Girl

Hi Guys, I'm sharing a DT layout for SpiegelMom Scraps featuring the gorgeous Glass Slipper sequin mix.  The patterned papers and cut files are from the wonderful Cocoa Vanilla Studios. To be honest the cut files are so gorgeous it doesn't take much to make a lovely layout with them!  Without doubt Zoe Pearn is my favourite designer. I went for the layered approach and backed some of the apertures with patterned papers.  I added a few foam adhesive squares to pop up some leaves and flowers. I then went through and stuck some Glass Slipper sequins down and added a few Moonshine Delight too.  I tried to place them on all the different levels of die cuts.  This mix of sequins really catch the light and having a bit of sparkle on all the different levels accentuates the dimension of the layout. If you are feeling the need to add some Glass Slippers from SpiegelMom Scraps to your stash use the code Laura15 for a little discount....

Four Seasons

Oh, I enjoyed making this one... I know it's not an original concept - the four seasons artwork has been done many times before but I still enjoyed interpreting it my way.  I started out with a four pack of mini canvasses, each painted a different shade of blue. I then painted on a very unrealistically shaped tree!  I needed an even spread of branches to attach my button leaves to, so following the shape of a real tree didn't quite work!  I sorted through my button stash and pulled out blossom pinks and spring greens; rich leafy greens; and autumnal oranges, yellows, reds and browns.  I attached my buttons with matte gel medium, but any strong glue would be okay. My favourite touch?  The autumn leaves that have dropped from the tree! You can find a huge selection of buttons here ! Thank you for stopping by

Printing

Oh boy did I have fun printing with leaves!! First up is this grey and blue beauty made using spray inks.  I got some definition but not satisfied I started to think a thicker medium would give better results. So I used this sheet to soak up the excess spray inks on my craft mat and then pulled out some acrylic paint. The definition was much better, picking out even the smallest veins on the leaf. I know this is a playgroup craft but it really made me smile.  I genuinely had so much fun, bring on Autumn!  (Actually, I would like a nice Summer first please!)

PL/LJ

Here is a layout using Gossamer Blue goodies.  (I have half a feeling that the background paper is a different brand, but went so well that I added it to my Gossamer Blue goodies...) This was towards the end of my Gossamer Blue spree (last year - not sure why this didn't get blogged then!) so the papers were already cut.  There were a few pieces that I had pulled to use on other layouts but they didn't make it to the final page, so in effect this is a use it up layout.  I seem to end up liking my use it up layouts more than others.  I'm really pleased with this one of me and my baby cousin... She will turn 10 this year.  I probably should stop calling her my baby cousin :( Thanks for stopping by

Laura & Mitzy

I've discovered Wilna Furstenberg.  She rocks!  I watched this video and loved the third layout (starting around 12 minutes) so much that I basically lifted it identically, albeit with different supplies. I love the way Wilna structured her layout.  I also admire her use of 'little bits'.  I seem to struggle to get much product on to my page.  I have a few theories... I like clean and simple, I pay for all my supplies and therefore don't want to use too many in one go, I am unsure how to use the words included in ephemera packs, I am stuck in a rut.  It's probably a combination of all four.  A lot of layouts that are packed with product are made by design team members who are supplied with freebies - maybe they don't feel the need to eek out every last possible project, maybe they are doing their job well by making me want to use more product!! I think I have done well here using quite a few little bits from the Gossamer Blue ephemera pack,...
