Scrapbooking | Hey Little Magpie Cyber Crop

Some times I want to just scrap whatever I fancy, whatever flows out of my fingers with no rules or parametres; other times I love to get stuck in to a challenge.  Recently I've been all about the challenges.   Hey Little Magpie ran a cyber crop over the weekend and I have managed four layouts so far.  I have a few more planned out in my head too, but we'll see if they get made before the deadline... Concord and 9th watering can die paired with Heffy Doodle patterned papers, rainbow photo corners, old stickers and a little bit of subtle embossing with a scoreboard and bone folder.  Percy, my last budgie was nicknamed Sweet Pea and these were 'her' flowers that bloomed after she passed away.  I feel very sentimental and soppy about them, and her, hence the journalling on the front.  I also added journalling on the back. This is the song the big boys sing to their little brother.  It's the lyrics to Party All Night by Sean Kingston altered to fit ne...

Angel Doily

It's Christmas so we need an angel or two...  we always had one on top of our tree when we were kids and it was usually handmade.  You know the ones, toothpick in a polystyrene ball, doily body, dodgy glitter glue work and some tinsel stuck on top?  Well, this is my handmade tree topper this year aged 32 and a half! It is made from one doily cut in a special way - pretty much along the lines of this , but I took a template from a shopbought Christmas card from 2 years ago. I added a few bits of ribbon from Crafty Ribbons; the one woven through the doily is 3mm copper lame.   I also used some Nativity Words Ribbon to add a hanging loop.  This was an 8" doily and is too big for my little tree!

Pigs Might Fly

When I saw this ribbon I knew I wanted to recreate the little tomte in paper form.  Who could possible resist a nisse riding a pig?! I made a pattern and paper pieced him together in matching cardstock.  I tried to include all the details from Ali's design.  I made it slightly dimensional by layering - I guess that is decoupage? I attached the nisse to the card in such a way that he spins... now not only do we have a nisse riding a pig we have a flying pig!! I'd love to give you directions on how to create a spinner card but I worked from several tutorials that I found on you tube and still ended up wondering off on my own path.  I will share clear instructions when I have them, it's on my list of things to do in the new year. Supplies: Ribbon from the Nisse collection from Crafty Ribbons Sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps paper from my stash Thanks for looking!

Fluffed Up for Autumn

I instantly fell in love with the falling leaves cut file from Pretty My Page.  I played with the file in Studio and cut out lots of leaves on vellum. Whilst the images were still on the cutting mat I coloured them with Shimmerz (and a couple of Mr Huey's too) paints and mists.  I peeled them off the cutting mat when they were partially dry and left them to dry completely. As they dried they curled up and went all crunchy - just like real Autumn leaves! I made two layouts with them... one on light kraft teamed with copper alphas and sequins. And another on white carstock.  I adhered the leaves with small glue dots so they could remain curly and dimensional. I could have added more embellishments but, honestly, the leaves are so fabulous I didn't want anything to detreact from them and the photo! This is my favourite photo of old Daisy Girl.  How I miss her naughty garden antics! Here is the video... Thanks for stopping by!

I've been playing with a fabulous cut file from Pretty My Page ...  PMP sell pre cut cut files so you don't need a cameo or scan'n'cut to use cut files in your crafting.  Soon they will be selling the digital files too, like I played with here. I've not used it as intended but that is the beauty of a cut file - you can switch it up any which way. I've used my Daniel Smith watercolours to colour up the cut file.  I knew I'd be using watercolour so I cut on good quality watercolour paper.  It works well with the silhouette cameo but you do need to double cut. You'll see in the video I cut a load of butterflies that I didn't use... they'll feature on a future layout I'm sure! Beautiful Jennie dog.  I want a Norfolk Terrier one day... And I added some sequins too, these are SpiegelMom Scraps Moonshine Delight . Here's the vid: I hope you check out Pretty My Page especially if you don't have a cutting m...
