Stick It Down

Warning: Slightly Graphic(ish) Content - you might want to give this one a miss if you are squeamish! This month's Stick It Down layouts are to be based on this sketch. I stuck to pretty much exactly.  I've scrapped about the time I sewed through my thumb with the sewing machine... Black, white and red seemed like the perfect colour palette.  This issue is black and white - I need to rest when I am tired.  When I don't, um... I end up seeing red stuff! The flair is from Feed Your Craft, sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps and ric rac from Crafty Ribbons. One day I was tired but carried on sewing, the old 'just finish this one then I'll rest' thing that all M.E. sufferers know so well.  The needle went through my nail and into my thumb and then snapped.  We pulled the half needle out complete with bloody thread.  The nail bed healed pretty quickly and the hole in the nail grew out.  I was lucky.  I really ought to listen to m...

PROUD

Next up in my run of scraplifts is this one based on a Kerri Thomas original. It is very simple but it packs a lot of sparkle!  The sequins are Lisa's Starry Night from the latest SpiegelMom Scraps release - and they are gorgeous! The only other thing I did was tuck some black ric rac under the photo.  Perfect. Thanks for stopping by!

MISTI

I caved and bought a 12x12 MISTI.  I suck at stamping - really awful!  Hopefully I should improve with a MISTI in my arsenal.  I have learned already that you do need to realign your card to the corner after each stamp impression if you are double stamping.  Even if you have used both magnets it can move slightly.  You'll see in the video below... The stamp is by Concord & 9th.  It is beautiful!  It must be as I bought it before the MISTI and it prompted me to take the plunge! I've water coloured with my Daniel Smith's and added thread, sequins, ric rac, enamel dots and vellum shapes. It's fair to say this is one of my favourites.  Perhaps I need to do more stamping?

The Story

Hi there, I'm here today to share a layout for Crafty Ribbons today... I've incorporated two sizes and colours of ric rac, some of my beloved 3mm satin ribbon (I use it on most projects!) and also some lace. You can find the ric rac here .  I've used candy pink and cerise.  The satin is Jade and the pretty thin lace is Chloe . The rest of the supplies are from an old like for ever kit, apart from the doily which is from SpiegelMom Scraps. Thanks for stopping by! p.s. not sure if I have mentioned on my blog yet.  Herbie had an accident and injured his leg beyond repair.  It's terribly lonely and quiet without him.  He had such a big character for a little bird.

Meet The Sparklers

Hi there, if you are hopping along you should have arrived from Danielle's Welcome to SpiegelMom Scraps 'Meet The Sparklers' hop.  I am very happy to be staying with SMS for another term. A little about me... as documented in the journalling on this layout. Nearly 32 - tired but coping Loves: being an Auntie - Herbert, my bird - creating - sequins! Hopes:  to improve energy and tiredness levels - to grow UK Scrap Addicts - to improve people skills - to love and to be happy. Along with a glassine bag and some  Wild and Free Sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps I've used some labels from Claudia Van R's first collection with Pretty Little Studio and some matching ricrac from Crafty Ribbons.  For the background I traced the SMS logo and converted it in to a cut file! Your next stop is Mary and you can find the entire list on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog . Happy Hopping!

mug hug

Are you feeling a bit chilly?  Grab a hot chocolate in your favourite mug and wrap it up in a hug! It's fairly easy to whip up a mug hug.  I've used the sleeve of an old denim/fleece sweater that had passed its best.  I've decorated with camper van ribbon from the Summer Festival range, spotty ric rac , and a couple of heart buttons . I tried to use ribbon for the button loops but failed (twice) and switched to elastic. Me in my Monkey World hoodie and my mug hug... you can tell I wasn't high in energy levels here as my nails are bare! Thanks for stopping by!

Time for a challenge?

The challenges at Crafty Ribbons Challenges have restarted after a little summer holiday.  This fortnight it is my choice of theme and I've gone with Butterflies and Birds...  any handmade creation that uses ribbon and includes at least one butterfly and one bird is welcome - Mr Linky is here !  (p.s. it has been changed to either a bird or a butterfly) On to my make... I've had some free papers (sorry, I don't know where they came from) sitting around for a while and decided now was the time to pull them out for  play.   Of course I used copious amounts of ribbon, buttons and lace from Crafty Ribbons too. If you want to replicate this you'll need these ingredients; white ric rac , white sheer organza , lace , swiss dots , buttons (I used several different Basics2Go packs). Thanks for stopping by!

A Handy Note Book

Here is a little notebook I ribbon-ified.  It was featured on Ali's Hello Wednesday series over at Crafty Ribbons but I've just found this post in my drafts - I forgot to share it here!  The note book was a blank from the Craft Barn.   I added a ribbon page marker by taping some 3mm up the spine of the notebook.   I did a little bit of ribbon weaving on a rectangle of card securing the ribbons at the back with tape.   I then attached the rectangle to the front et voilà! I used: metallic edge 3mm cotton ribbon satin ribbon velvet saddlestitch ric rac and I had a tonne of fun! Thanks for stopping by today - and if you take the time to leave a comment, thank you a tonne, they brighten my day :)

Advent - Day 19

Amazing what you can do with a bit of polstyrene and a tin of pins... This is a polystyrene cone covered in loops of ribbon.    So simple but I love it!  It's sitting on my little shelf and it makes me smile :) I cut lengths of ribbon about 5-6cm long and pinned in rows starting at the bottom. using dots , sheer , ric rac , check and Santa ribbons All done for Crafty Ribbons Inspirations - check out what the other girls have made here
