Hairclip Holder

I've recently had a haircut and I am, apparently, unable to buy just two of something... I must have every colour !  So I needed a way to store these new accessories. I pulled out some Swiss Dots ribbons in colours to match the Spring Ribbons Poppies and set to work. I used two barbeque skewers to give the Poppy ribbon some stability and hung lengths of grosgrain between them.  A few stitches here and there to secure things was all it took.  I added some 3mm grosgrain to hang the holder and added a couple of mini bows as a finishing touch. Thanks for stopping by!

lovely

Good Morning!! Today I'm sharing the first layout made with my June Like For Ever kit called 'Stripy Straws'. The first layout from a kit is sometimes a little hard for me - just to start cutting up the pristine papers... it hurts!  And what if I cut a piece from one that I might need a whole sheet of later?  I got over this by telling myself it is just paper and scraplifting the freaking rad Adele Toomey.   I cut a whole bunch of 3" squares - or 7.6 cm - and overcame the first cut fear! I played around with the interchangeable stamp and got very inky fingers.  I have now figured out if you keep the handle down and stamp off a few impressions you are then not handling a completely inked stamp.  I'm still not brave enough to add stamping straight to a layout, I know I would mess it up! I have mixed feelings about these hair clips... that is what they are - hair clips.  But I guess they work on a page too, I just don't like them being sol...

Rainbow Bow

Please excuse my lack of proper blogging - my health is fairly rubbish at the moment.  I'm trying desperately to keep up my Friday Smiles - I know they are good for me.  I'm also trying hard to keep up my Craft Ribbons DT work, which is what I'm popping in for today... It is challenge day and this fortnights theme is 'Rainbow'. I've used; 15mm polka dot in red , orange satin , 3mm grosgrain in lemon , swiss dots grosgrain in royal & lime and light orchid & purple , 3mm satin in key lime and rose bloom , swiss dots organza in purple & white . Hop over to Crafty Ribbons Challenges to join us for our rainbow challenge!

Hairclip

As part of my Secret Santa gifts I wanted to include something hand made.  I knew my lady loves bats so I set about making a ribbon bat.  I used 25mm black grosgrain for the body.  I painted the back edge of the wing ribbon with matte medium so I could cut to a scalloped edge without causing any fraying. For the body of the bat I used 10mm grosgrain and super strong double sided tape.  A couple of dark grey swarovski crystals for eyes and a deep V cut to represent the ears... and I added a plain hair grip (bobby pin) et viola! I'd love to hear what you think!

Advent - Day 11

Carrying on with our advent celebrations over at Crafty Ribbons Inspirations here is my make for day 11. I used a couple of hairslide blanks from my stash (from a craft fair a few years back, but you can find similar on eBay etc.), a few of Ali's buttons and some of my beloved 3mm ribbon . Literally all I did was tie them together.  Easy peasy!  And believe me I need easy at the moment having had two falls and put a staple through my finger in the last 5 days... sigh! The great thing about these clips is while they are perfectly durable and sturdy they can also be temperary - let me explain.  Because the buttons are just tied to the clip you can easily un tie them and replace with blue buttons and silver ribbon, or purple buttons and gold ribbon, whatever combination to match whatever outfit you have on for that special Christmas do.  :) Thanks for stopping by and for joining us at Inspirations for out Advent series :)

Pink and Pretty!

Woah!  Two challenges in a row?!  What is going on?!         Yep, I've made this up for In the Pink's 'Lace' challenge .  As soon as I saw the theme was Lace for this challenge I knew I wanted to use this that Father Christmas got me from Crafty Ribbons.   I made three gathered circles and stitched them together.  Added a flower - pink of course! I attached to an old hair clip that I had kept to pretty up at some point (also pink but this was coincidence rather than planned)  It had something attached to it once upon a time but little hands unattached it! I have just one problem... my little people are no longer little or interested in pink!  If you have a little one who would like this drop me a line (UK only please, postage charges are ridiculous!  First come first served.) and I'll pop it in the post to you :) Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Hairclip and My RAK

I am part of Sue 's RAK group and today I received a little parcel from Ali .  Such a beautiful card - I collect teddy bears so it's very appropriate for me!  And a little note pad in a holder - I am the queen of lists so again, very appropriate for me.  Thanks Ali :)       Rubbish photo, the light is awful today.  This is the fourth attempt!!       And just a little something I made...         I fallen in love with this lace .  It is so pretty.  I wanted to try and make some hair accessories including it.  This is a small clip about 3cm long, lace sewn in to a circle and topped with a vintage button from my Granma's button box.       Slightly messy on the back but who sees the back?!   I really want to make more now... maybe try to attach them to grips (bobby pins) instead of a clip.     Thanks for stopp...
