Silk Ribbon Leaves

This project started with one idea, circled through a couple more ideas and ended up being one of my favourite creations so far this year. I started with some heart confetti cut on my Silhouette Cameo and Rose Gold Red Vibez from Shimmerz.  I was inspired by my friend Mary to have a good at a bokeh-type background.  You can see how in the video posted below. That was just playing with no plan in place for the finished piece.  I decided to go the ribbon route and make it a DT piece for Crafty Ribbons.  I picked a few ribbons and dyed them with the same spray. I then decided it needed some green, and what better than some silk leaves... I also added silk twists to the centre of my vellum flower.  I'd have used french knots if I knew how to do them ;) I used the following ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:  Organza Swiss Dots ; Seam Binding ; Silk Ribbons . Here is the process: Thanks for stopping by! Crafty Ribbons are runnin...

Kindness and Confetti

Sequin confetti, of course!  Hi, I'm here today with a bunch of ATC's.  I am taking part in a swap you see... 52 cards themed 'Love, Kindness and Hope' and in return, I get 52 cards from all over the world made by different artists. I start with a master board - a big piece of watercolour paper that will eventually be cut down to size.  I made three sheets with different colours using mainly Shimmerz sprays in different finishes.  I added some stencilling with Dazzlerz paste for some texture. Next, I moved on to the fun bit - filling up 52 little glassine bags with sequin confetti.  I won't list all of the sequin mixes I used as there are far too many!  You can find them all here ! I printed out the phrase "throw kindness around like confetti" and trimmed them down to small slips of paper.  I have all my elements ready now so I set up my sewing machine.  I picked a background, a glassine bag of confetti and a sentiment sl...

Proper Post and What I Made...

I recently discovered a new British business called Proper Post .  They have a sub box each months with cards and stationery.  Alongside the lovely cards this month was a packet of confetti and a roll of copper washi tape... well I had to scrapbook with them, didn't I?! Black, white and copper was the box colour scheme - classy and fun. The confetti arrived in a glassine bag with a copper paperclip - they both got used too. I snuck in a piece of ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.  I added a few alphas from my stash to the first layout, and a little bit of ink too. The second layout focusses on the confetti... I added a flair from Feed Your Craft nestled on a thread nest, and some pearly paint splatters. I was surprised how much fun I had lining up the confetti pieces... it appealed to the inner neat freak! And I finished it off with a large chipboard j covered in the wonderful copper washi. You can find out about Proper Post here and here...

Confetti Hearts

In last month's like for ever kit there was a huge tub of heart confetti from Pebbles.  I loved it and could see myself making shaker pockets, using them as I would sequins and enamel dots and then this idea popped in to my head... Stringing lots of hearts together and using them as bunting, perfect.  I only put the needle in my thumb twice - for me this is a vast improvement! I gave one of the wood veneers from the kit a coat of pink acrylic paint, a coat of melon Gelato, a coat of Shimmerz Dazzlerz in spun sugar.  I sanded it down a little and decided that was the best colour match I was going to get. I poked holes in to my watercolour paper background and strung my lines of bunting.  Then I watered down the melon gelato and added a generous helping of splatters. I knew my photo needed layers but I kept them subtle and narrow, and included vellum to keep them 'soft' so the main focus besides the photo itself would be the hearts. And I can ...

Love Is All You Need

Another from this months like for ever kit.  (And two in a row not on a white background!!) I picked up some empty tea bags... I think they are meant to be for making your own blend of tea but I'll be using them to add confetti and sequins and little bits'n'bobs to my layouts! The wood veneer tag had a coat of tombow multi and when it was dry I added some metal leaf.  I love the way it has turned out. All the tags had a little piece of 3mm grosgrain threaded through them. And that wonderful gold heart vellum pulling it all together.  Lovely lovely vellum!! I think if I am honest it took a while to get in this kit as there is a lot of pink and was afraid to use it with 'boy pictures' - but this works.  It's all about balancing it, that's the key.  We know what the next kit/supplies are and it has a fair amount of pink too, but somehow I don't think I'll struggle so much... Little Bit Cray Cray

Still using my Counterfeit Kit, but feeling like a sketch was needed, I went searching and came across this one from Colorful Creations : I made myself a chevron template... and cut some out in blue and white.  I patched together a 12x12 from remaining green sheets of patterned paper. I felt it needed something more so I punched some confetti dots in matchnig blue, threw them on and stuck them down. The title comes from things that the girls were saying - I'm so old and out of touch I didn't know cray cray is the current slang for crazy *sigh*  :) Thanks for stopping by!

Perfection@WPF

As part of my Guest Designer spot with Counterfeit Kit Club I also get to participate in their Scrapbook Day celebrations.  There is tonnes going on over the weekend so pop over and have a peep - oh, and there are prizes!!! For this video by glittergirl I was inspired to find a mood board and break it down in to warm and cool.  This is the board I found; and this is the paper I pulled out. I had a little think, and a little play, and came up with this sunburst type design and confetti circles at the bottom. I added in coordinating embellishments but only if they were included in the colour palette I had gathered earlier. I added a hidden journalling tag... ...which is where I put all the words.  I guess this is the journalling and the title.  Does a page need to have a title? And finally a close up of the embellishing down the bottom.  I included vellum and transparent hearts, resin roses, confetti sequins and circles punched out...

My Pink Prize!

A little while back I was fortunate enough to win some goodies for Ashley Calder 's blog giveaway.  Everything I won was pink.  Pink confetti, pink bows, pink bunting, pink sequins, pink wands!  Here are a couple of girly layouts I put together; Sticking the confetti down one by one took time but I love the ordered effect. Oh, ok, it wasn't purely pink, there was some gold too... This makes me smile - my fairy princess is now a hockey goalkeeper and couldn't be less pink!  :D Again each piece of confetti stuck down individually but this time I threw it on and stuck it where it landed for a random effect. I want to say a massive thank you to Ashley not just for the prize but for inspiring me time and time again. Thanks for stopping by
