Stashbusting: Wood Veneer

I have a love hate relationship with wood veneer.  I apparently love to buy it and hate to use it!! So I aimed to use a whole bunch all on one layout and this is what happened!  The cut file and the majority of the wood are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I stuck to using white and the colour of the wood.  This helps to keep a clean and fresh look and keeps the focus on the wood (as well as the all important photo!) I added some white hand sewing for texture... and popped my title up on foam.  I love the way that this casts shadows. I also added a generous coat of irridescent splatters which show in real life much better than they show in the photos! Thanks for watching!

I've Got Sunshine

A few months back I spotted a .jpeg in the facebook group Faith, Hope, Washi .  One that made me smile and instantly inspired me.  It was made by the very talented Jen Schow - her 'script and uplift' videos on YouTube are amongst my favourites.  Anyway, I squirrelled away the image and pondered on how to incorporate it in to  something I could make.  Then last month fellow 'like for ever-er' Caroline Free posted about make cut files in to stitching patterns ... bingo!  This would be the perfect thing to do...  I checked with Jen and she graciously said I could use her image and this layout was born. The layout is quite simple, lots of white on white with just a pop of yellow to set it off.  The stitching was all done by hand and took quite a while, but I did notice as I went along I got faster - practice really does improve you! I collected up some white sequins from different SpiegelMom Scraps mixes - I used Fairytale mixes tha...

Bliss

I keep an eye on the challenge themes at Quirky Crafts .  They are, as the name suggests, always a little quirky.  I get disillusioned with anything goes challenges - it's not a challenge!  I like the fact that you have to work a bit to join in at Quirky's.  This week the theme is all white.  Tricky, but very fun! I used modelling paste through a stencil, then compared my Cosmic Shimmer mist and Shimmerz Inklingz.  (I've been attracted to Shimmerz but with the postage and the fact I already have some mists I haven't managed to justify buying.  But some how these little Inklingz pots made me buy them...)  Today was the first play with just one of the colours and compared to the Cosmic Shimmer it hits the mark. The droplets are mist, the splatty splodges are Inklingz.   It looks better in real life than it does in the photos, it's much more shimmery. I pulled out a few white layers - card, mulberry tissue, grosgrain and satin ri...

Hi!

I am up on the Crafty Ribbons Inspirations blog today.  This is the project I am sharing; A tag from Spiegel Mom Scraps, a cut file from the Silhouette bundle, a scrap of ink soaked paper, a couple of alpha stickers and an enamel dot. A close up of the details... I made the ruffle using white ribbon from a £1 ribbon pack .  I set my sewing machine to the longest, straight stitch possible and sewed down the middle of the ribbon - it doesn't even need to be a straight line, which is just as well really!!  Then pull on one thread and ease the ribbon along, et voila!  Secure the threads with a knot so it doesn't unruffle over time.  I find the super sticky red backed tape the easiest way to stick ruffles down. I also used the 3mm grosgrain from the Baby Washing range to finish off my tag. Linking up at Create With Joy and Creative Mondays Thanks for stopping by today!

It is challenge day at Crafty Ribbons Challenges !  Our team boss Carol set the theme of 'Black and White' and the first thing that came to my mind was a domino... So I set to work fiddling around with gessos, inks and pens until I had the effect I was after.  Then I wrapped it in mini check ribbon , using super sticky red backed tape to adhere it.  Lastly I used 3d glue gel to attach the domino to a metal clip threaded with 'Moon and Back' ribbon . This clip will sit on my desk keeping together all the photos I have out waiting to be scrapped. I'd like to enter this at; Make My Monday (favourite two colours to work with) Not Just Cards Thanks for stopping by!

Playing Cups

I've been playing with my counterfeit kit again.  There are a couple of sheets left which I am unsure how to use.  Rather than try and work it out today I just put them to one side and made this instead! I kind of followed the sketch from Sketch'n'Scrap ...  But went a bit freestyle with it too! I used some happy happy happy ribbon from Crafty Ribbons .  It's the first time I've used it I think.  So far it has been too precious to cut! And I also layered in some grey cotton ribbon . The alphas are Amy Tan woodgrain thickers, at least they were before I gessoed them!  I have two packs, both of which came as part of something rather than me buying them, and I'm really struggling to use them.  I decided to gesso them and then make them match the two tone heart paper using acrylic paint.  I can see the rest of them being used up this way... they can match any and every project with the amount of paint I own!! Linking this up...

1st TEETH

Here is my first layout with my January Counterfeit Kit .  I've got to say, I love it!  There is no light here at all, it's so dull and dreary, so the photos are not the best.  I need some low light photography tips!! It's so simple and sparse but still has enough to excite my eyes.  I've used a good amount of stickers - big tick! The clouds and heart are from Things That Shine and the seam binding is from Crafty Ribbons .  (Crafty Ribbons are having a design team call - if you love working with ribbons please drop us a line.  All the details can be found here!) These butterfly stickers have been in my stash for years.  I remember buying them at The Craft Barn but can't work out exactly which year.  They have to be more than 10 years old.  Only two left now.  That makes me happy!! Thanks for stopping by!

I Love Ewe

A little card to share today... I've used Ewe ribbon and digi paper from Crafty Ribbons, and red and grey offcuts from my stash. Sharing over at the playground and at inkspirational where the photo inspiration is Thanks for stopping by!
