Christmas Shopping Bag

Hey Folks, I'm sharing my last Crafty Ribbons project before Christmas.  I bought a plain canvas bag and have used goodies from the Santa's Grotto range to decorate it. I have used super sticky double sided tape to attach my ribbons.  This is a strong enough adhesive to put up with bad weather whilst out shopping, and the rough and tumbles of the festive world.  Alternatively, you could sew the ribbon on.  The bag could also be used as a gift bag or a stocking-of-sorts. I've layered up my ribbons to give a nice wide band of decoration.  The cut ends of the ribbon are neatly hidden by the Santa and Snowman motif.  Before cutting the central motif I painted the back of the ribbon with matte medium.  This stops any fraying and stiffens it up making it much easier to cut.  I added two little heart buttons with gold thread for the finishing touch. Here are links to the products I have used: Santa's Grotto Badges Santa's Grotto Santa ...

Gift Bag

I'm up on the Crafty Ribbons Inspiration blog today getting those Christmas craft juices flowing! I took a plain white bag and gave it a good spritz with gold spray ink.  I concentrated more colour at the top of the bag and let it fade out towards the bottom.  You can pick up blank paper bags at most craft stores, or recycle ones you have been given.  I've taken two ribbons from the Santa's Grotto range and painted the backs with matte medium.  When this is dry it allows you to fussy cut the ribbon without fraying.  I matted the large motif on to some gold mirror card, and layered it up over a couple of pieces of lace. I then added two of the tag motifs to the base of the handle.  Perfect for giving a gift this Christmas, not terribly time consuming, and even something you can get the kids to join in with... go on, do some Christmas crafting!! Ingredients: Tag Ribbon Badge Ribbon 2mm silk ribbon Volcan Lace Clermont Lace

Wrapping it up...

Can I share a whole bunch of wrapping ideas with you?  These are what I gave last year... Bundle two presents to the same person together with cord and add a candy cane to the knot. Pair simple gold tissue with ribbon with festive designs on them - I went with owls for my Mum. For a bottle tie a couple of ribbons around the neck of the bottle adding bells to the end of the ribbon for more festive fun! For a jar again I added bells but on a wide metallic ribbon. Here I matched the pattern on the paper to the motif on the ribbon .  This is especially apt as the ribbon says 'Have a yummy Christmas' and the present is chocolate. There is of course, the standard ribbon round and a bow - it never fails! Even a gift card in an envelope can be jazzed up with ribbon and a candy cane tucked in to the knot. Or how about going over board on tiny presents such as jewellery boxes.  Use a nice wide ribbon and tie a bow bigger than t...

Crafty Ribbons Challenges are back!

And it is our birthday!  Well, our challenge blog anniversary.  Tons of prizes this week too!   Here are my makes... I love to use and reuse gift bags but I have a deep hatred for the cord handles that are all scratchy and itchy.  Simple solution = untie the handles, measure the same length of ribbon, thread and tie. Really simple but really effective.  Just make sure your knots on the inside of the bag are good and tight.  I've used lilac Happy Birthday, garden rose Happy Birthday and island blue Sentiment Birthday Ribbon. I hope you can join us for our birthday celebration challenge !

Advent - Day 20

Welcome back for day 20 of Crafty Ribbons Inspiration's Advent Celebrations . Easy ideas for Christmas? How easy is it to recycle a paper bag for Christmas?  So easy!! A rectangle of patterned paper stuck over the shop logo - this bag was from bravissimo. Cute ribbon to replace the original handles. Witty remark on the base of the bag ;) Using Winterscene ribbon.
