Scrapbooking | FTLOPP

Happy New Year!  What better way to start than by kicking depression in the butt and scrapbooking? I've been joining in with the FTLOPP Birthday Party challenges.  This one is 'use lots of a single embellishment' - I plumped for paper stars. This layout uses some of what I think is my oldest paper.  It's from Studio Calico circa 2012.  Just a tiny bit left now which will go in my scraps box. The feature of the layout is these origami stars.  I was inspired by Morag who recently used some on a layout.  The tutorial she followed is here .  When I try a new origami pattern I see how small I can make it.  I got to a finished size of 16mm... I attempted one that was 15mm but it really didn't have the definition or crispness.  Paper folding is also the theme of the month at UKSA so it ties in nicely with that too. Supplies are pretty minimal besides the patterned paper.  Less but chosen well, I hope.  Gold Shimmerz p...

Jar of Lucky Stars

Lucky stars are so fun to make!  The basics are: grab a strip of paper, fold at 108 degrees continually to make a pentagon, push the edges in to pop the middle.  You can find detailed instructions here . Here I've used StickerKitten's Unicorn Fairground collection not just for the stars but also to decorate a jar to hold them. Any excuse to make a shrink plastic unicorn, right?! I also stamped a strip of vellum with the word unicorn to label the jar.  I used tiny glue dots to adhere the vellum to the glass - this gives the cleanest finish possible when combining seethrough glass and mostly seethrough vellum.  You can grab your StickerKitten supplies here !  Linking up at Inspire Me Mondays ! Thanks for looking!

just the 2 of you

Well, it took a while for me to get in to this months like for ever kit, but now I'm in, there is no stopping me! This one is the first time I've used origami on a layout and I love the outcome! Here is a video tutorial for making your own butterflies! I've added some Heidi Swapp gold glitter stickers and some Spiegel Mom Scraps gold sequins to the kit contents. Crafty Ribbons have just released some super cute new ribbon designs... you can find them here .
