Scrapbooking | Scraplifting A Flatlay

Last night Claire did a facebook live in the Quirky Kit subscriber group.  I tried to scrap along but in all honesty I did most of mine this morning having felt decidedly uncreative last night.  You can see Claire's layout here and the Echo Park flatlay that was the inspiration here .  I used various custom cards from my Quirky Kits and some Pretty Little Studio ephemera. Of course a Laura-layout isn't complete without sequins and I broke in to my new delivery of SpiegleMom Scraps sequins. I used my big roller stamp to add my journalling - yep, I'm classing thosse three words as journalling!  They get across everything I wanted to say when combined with the title of You Are. Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbooking | Green and Black

I joined in with some challenges run in the For The Love Of Pretty Paper facebook group reccently.  There was a crop themed around chocolate... I'm a big fan of chocolate!  This layout was for the Green and Black challenge. I've used some bunting pennants I had left over from a previous Pretty My Page project.  Pretty much everything else is from my Quirky Kits, I think. I used some black embossing powder over an Amy Tangerine die cut.  I must do this more often as it looks amazing! Whizzed up some bunting on my sewing machine and added doodling... and finished off with thread tangles and enamel dots. I do love a limited colour palette layout! Linking up at Inspire Me Mondays

Scrapbooking | Crafty Templates and Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Catching up on some 2019 makes that didn't quite make it to the blog... this is one of my favourites. Made with a Crafty Templates kit featuring Cocoa Vanilla Studio ephemera. Along with mixed media supplies from my stash. I used the negatives from a cut file on the backgroud... and the effect they give is awesome!  I will be doing more of this in 2020. You can grab the cut file in the cut files tab above.  It's one of my doodles and is available for free. Here's the video: This second layout was made with the same supplies. I was on a roll and didn't want to stop creating (or tidy up!) This die cut is from a Simon Says metal die - so much quicker than using an electronic cutting machine but frustrating when you are used to being able to resize! Here's the video:

Scrapbooking | Love This

I was inspired by stash busting on Facebook to create this layout. I've used supplies from last November's Crafty Templates custom card kit and enamel dots and hearts from my stash. I recently blitzed my white card scraps.  I patch worked them together using my sewing machine and created 6 sheets of 12x12.  Ready made backgrounds with texture and interest perfect for creating clean and simple layouts on... although this one wasn't as CAS as I could go! I added in a few tangles of white thread to tie in the background sewing. Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty My Page | Altering A Cut File

Pretty My Page are back from their Summer Break and I'm kicking off the month of inspiration with this layout... It also seems a good time to dust off my blog and try and get back to a regular posting schedule.  We'll see how it goes.  Currently my craft room is dismantled for workmen so I have a couple of days of forced uncraftiness (it's a word!) so I'll be doing my best to get the blog up to date then. Back to the layout... the cut file I've used is the Quadrant Portcullis but I have made some changes.  The beginning of the video takes you through the process in Silhouette Studio. I love the outcome.  I love that you can tweak cut files easily and make them work for you. The papers are mainly scraps or pocket cards from Crafty Templates Custom Card kits. The embellishments are from my huge stash of Color Cast Designs acrylics.  I'm hoping to make a good dent in the collection over the rest of the year as I seem to have accumulated qui...

Stash Busting

I'm guest designing for Stashbusting this month and have these two layouts to share... The theme to bust this month is sequins.  Hmm... I wonder why they chose me as guest designer?  Hahaha! Supplies for this layout are from my Quirky Custom Card kit along with sequins and Shimmerz from SpiegelMom's.  The second layout uses an entire pack of Doodlebug sequins that I have had in my stash for 5+ years.  It's not a difficult technique by any means, it just takes time to stick each sequin down individually. I've also pulled out my favourite sewing technique.  Sew and skip, let's call it that.  Sew the first stitch in the first colour (lime in this case) and then skip ahead for the next stitch.  I had five thread colours so skipped four holes before the next lime stitch.  Once you've finished the entire row you then go back with your second colour, then the third etc.  The paper layers I've used are snippe...

Happy New Year

So after taking a blog break in December, I have decided how I'm going to go forwards regards my blog.  I'm aiming for one or two round-up posts per month along with my DT required blog posts.  Everything I make I post on my Instagram account which, frankly, is where I get the most views and interactions.  I don't want to turn my back on blogging completely.  I love having somewhere I can come and search and look back over all of my projects.  But I have come to the conclusion I just can't write full posts for everything any more. So here is a round-up of all of December's projects... Starting off with Glittery Hands Box makes... Pretty My Page layouts... A little bit of fancy wrapping! Sticker Kitten gift card holder: Skull and Cross Buns Advent Calendar: And all of the other stuff... the stuff that will now be in roundups rather than have individual posts! A fair few of these pr...
