clouds above you

Today I am sharing a little art journal page for Crafty Ribbons .  I love to use up my ribbon scraps in my art journal... Other ingredients include gelatos, Shimmerz Dazzlerz, a heart stencil from a previous like for ever kit, liquitex acrylic ink, and some felt clouds... I find writing quite hard, a combination of the M.E. and years of thinking I was no good at English at school, so I just wrote some lyrics from a song that summed up what I was feeling and thinking.  The song is Somewhere Someday by NSync. So this goes to show even teeny tiny pieces of ribbon can still be used!  If you like what you see here I have used;  Volcan Lace , Cotton ribbon , 3mm grosgrain , and both sides of Carry On Baking ribbon . Thanks for stopping by!

all mine

Another layout with like for ever's August kit using this sketch . I went a little bit messy for the background using gelatos and Heidi Swapp texture paste.  Then I threw on some splatters of ink in a few colours.  I did not think I'd use the tassels but whaddayaknow?  I like 'em!  They are fun.  I also added a fair amount of messy stitching. I quickly figured out the only way I was going to get the burger sticker used was to do a layout about burgers!  It's my meal of choice though, so I had a photo printed. Thanks for stopping by!

books

Hi there!  Today is my first layout for Stick It Down .  The sketch is by Evelyn... And this is what I came up with... The supplies are from June's like for ever kit along with dots and hearts from my stash. I switched the sketch up a little (as always!) and put my title in the small squares towards the bottom of the layout.  I made those small squares in to little tiny books! And where the title should be I have a little cluster. You can see my process here: I hope you feel inspired to play along with the sketch this month.  Be sure to link up in the side bar here ! Thanks for stopping by!

Animals with Crafty Ribbons

Hi there, it is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons challenges .  This weeks theme is Animals and here is my contribution... I've used my June like for ever kit and some organza Swiss dot ribbon. My ribbons are layered and tied in a bow.  I used torrid orange/white , black/white and light blue/white all colours picked out to match the patterned paper. I was so pleased to get photos of a skylark.  I love my skylarks and to get this close sitting in the car in a lay-by was fabulous.  I watched from take off, all the way up displaying, and then back down to land, singing the entire time. Thanks for stopping by!

Are You Reading?

Hi there!  It is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons today and our theme is Anything Goes with Ribbon.  I have gone with a 12x12 layout... The supplies are from my like for ever kit, flair from Hey Little Magpie and ribbon, of course, from Crafty Ribbons ! I went with the squares frames to qualify me for Challenge YOUrself whose theme is geometric.  I seem to have quite a collection of circles too with all the Swiss dots! I had some fun with my gelatos on the background - I really have taken a shine to them now! You can watch my process here: Thanks for stopping by!

Trying out Gelatos

As part of an add-on to June's like for ever kit I got a pack of gelatos.  I have very little experience with them and wanted to have a jolly good play, try out a whole bunch of techniques before I put them anywhere near a scrapbook layout.  I videoed my process... Here is my test page: My surfaces were pre-gessoed.  One has a whole load of used strips of washi tape stuck on (I hate to waste the prettiness!) with the gesso over the top. Here are my thoughts;  I didn't rate the two tools in the kit.  The brush shed a load of hairs, more than I was expecting.  Call me snobby but I like a good paint brush, one that doesn't drop hairs all over my work!  The foam tool was OK-ish but you would need one for each colour and quite frankly I preferred using my finger or a baby wipe.  The colours are good - blood orange, banana, squid ink and acqua dolce.  Aqua dolce is very pale. As for the other colours, big thumbs up!  I might...

Confetti Hearts

In last month's like for ever kit there was a huge tub of heart confetti from Pebbles.  I loved it and could see myself making shaker pockets, using them as I would sequins and enamel dots and then this idea popped in to my head... Stringing lots of hearts together and using them as bunting, perfect.  I only put the needle in my thumb twice - for me this is a vast improvement! I gave one of the wood veneers from the kit a coat of pink acrylic paint, a coat of melon Gelato, a coat of Shimmerz Dazzlerz in spun sugar.  I sanded it down a little and decided that was the best colour match I was going to get. I poked holes in to my watercolour paper background and strung my lines of bunting.  Then I watered down the melon gelato and added a generous helping of splatters. I knew my photo needed layers but I kept them subtle and narrow, and included vellum to keep them 'soft' so the main focus besides the photo itself would be the hearts. And I can ...

hello

I have finally broken in to my new like for ever kit , hooray!  It has taken a while as my body has been demanding sleep for the last week!  I also have a big project, well it's not big as such, just time consuming... and that has had all of my energy.  I took a break from that whilst the glue was drying and had a rummage through the kit.  It is very girly but I managed to pick out bits that weren't pink to make this for my gorgeous nephew's album. I've used the kit, add on vellum and enamel hearts, and some sequins from my stash.  I was tempted to be all precious with the vellum - it is lush!  But what is the point of having it if you don't use it?! The photo sits on quite a tight cluster including bits from the ephemera pack, tissue paper that the kit comes wrapped in along with the vellum and patterned papers. I followed a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and was hooked on the wonky squares around the layout.  I used three different c...
