Sketch Pens

I'm rediscovering Silhouette sketch pens... well, I bought them a year ago and figure it's about time I use them!!  I used them on my hexagon layout and have used them here... You know the deal with me... I use all of the colours all of the time!  I picked out some ROY G BIV colours to use with a Just Nick cut file .  I released the compound path for the cut file and selected only some shapes to draw each time.  This was put through my Cameo eight (I think) times. I added a few sequins from my SpiegelMom stash and added some simple tissue layers behind my photo.  I found a sparkly foam thicker amongst my 'really should use this' pile and that worked for my title. Then to finish off I used the silhouette pens in the regular hand-held fashion to colour some strips to use as a border.  I could have used rainbow paper but a) I didn't have any and b) this way the pen work on both the layout and the border are matching colours.

School Pic!

Cocoa Vanilla have a new release coming soon and that means I am making an effort to use up more of what I have to make space for the new goodies! This one uses a few pieces from More Than Words and papers from 6x6 pads.  Check out that old school photo!! The cut file is from Just Nick.  I left some of the negatives in place and only backed selected spots.  When I added it to my base layer I used a load of foam pads to give dimension and cause those gorgeous cast shadows.

Shake your Tailfeathers!

I've finally been able to bring myself to scrap photos of my sweet Herbie.  I had a couple of feathers from a Just Nick cut file on my desk and I just went for it.  I grabbed The Peacock Strut sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps and my watercolour palette. I like to use vellum for shaker pockets as it nice and firm but this time I wanted something very flexible.  I used some flimsy packaging - you do need the right kind of plastic though, as some don't get on with sewing machines!  Once I had my shaker made I marked on the background where my elements would go. I then added some pale watercolour washes beneath where they would lie so it would just peep out from behind.  To finish the layout I journalled around the edge - simple but elegant - rather like my Herb!! Thanks for looking!

Love to capture the moment

I found this post languishing in my drafts...  it's from early March, I think, hopefully not early February! I made this one for a challenge on the Lottie Loves Paper facebook group.  There were a few ingredients on a recipe - tag, yellow, 3 patterned papers, sequins, flair/button. I used my like for ever kit and a cut file from Just Nick.  Each of the sections of the cut file was backed with a different piece of patterned paper - I usually just cut and stick but I spent time choosing exactly which colour/pattern I wanted showing in each section! Sequins are SpiegelMom Scraps My Clementine and What's Up Buttercup.  The flair is from Accent Scrapbooking.  I have a bit of a thing about buying flair but very rarely use them - naughty!  I will make an effort to use flair on layouts for the next month... you'll have to hold me accountable, dear readers! Thanks for stopping by!

Ah, desk layouts... you are so fun!  I have been procrastinating tidying my desk for a few weeks.  I took it one step further by deciding to make a layout with items from my desktop only.  I shove stuff on my desk all the time - packaging, mail shots with nice colours, ephemera/sweets wrappers, extra cameo cuts etc. I have a few bits of lace near my craft mat all the time - today it was some cotton Morlaix and some viscose Volcan in mint.  I also pulled a few offcuts of sheer Swiss dots ribbon . I added some flicks of ink to the background and I'm happy with how it has turned out! Thanks for stopping by!

I love you more than teddy bears

Eek!  First layout with a new kit!  This is like for ever 's Live Out Loud featuring Paige Evans/Pink Paislee combo.  I've teamed it up with a Just Nicks cut file as part of an Instagram challenge set by the lovely Kristine Davidson . I cut the file 16 times from 9 different papers and then pieced them together.  I have leftovers, they will make it to a future layout I'm sure.  I used the squares that the circles were cut from (are you following?!) to layer up behind my photo.  Once I had these on the page it became obvious to me that some black was needed... I ignored this and sorted out my title.  The photo is me and my baby (who is no longer a baby, but still incredibly cute) cousin.  In the background is a teddy bear peeping out from behind a pillow.  It seemed 'I love you more than teddy bears' was the only option for a title! I then pulled out my black India ink and dropped some splats from a great height.  I wish ...

Lovely 30

Oh Cocoa Vanilla, I really have a crush on you!!  (For those of you who don't know of Cocoa Vanilla, they are an independant Aussie company making gorgeous scrapbooking collections.)  Here I have used Cocoa Vanilla papers, sequins, enamel dots and flair, matched with a couple of alphas from my stash and a cut file from Just Nick . I'm not sure why I love these papers so much.  It might be the colour palette, it might be the patterns, the fact that they are so versatile, I can't pinpoint one reason - I just adore them! The type writer style writing is cut from a sheet of Maggie Holmes paper from a Like For Ever kit. I layered the photos on some tissue paper and tucked some sequins underneath just peeping out. And I popped up the 'subtitles' on some thin foam tape.  I love to do this when usng white on white as it gives lovely shadows. So happy with this one!  And I will be doing my best not to hoard the rest of my Cocoa Vanilla supplies...
