Aeroplane

Little Neph loves to sit at the window and look for aeroplanes.  This cut file was the perfect way to illustrate his current obsession. I cut a bunch of extra clouds and backed them with vellum.  I backed the aeroplane with vellum and then patterned paper.  This gives a lovely muted colour. I painted the background with my Daniel Smith watercolours.

Father & Son

This month The Sparklers are working with circle and sketches... The first sketch is from Laura Whitaker and was easy to scale back to my minimal style. I was incredibly lucky to be gifted a Lottie Loves Paper voucher and bought a couple of packs of stickers from the new 1canoe2 range, and they formed the colour scheme for this layout. The sequins are Puppy Dog Tails and Road Trips & Sunshine from the newest release.  This mustard colour is my 'thing' at the moment.  I'm wearing it daily and sneaking it on to as many projects as possible - it's my new neon!! Thanks for looking!

clouds above you

Today I am sharing a little art journal page for Crafty Ribbons .  I love to use up my ribbon scraps in my art journal... Other ingredients include gelatos, Shimmerz Dazzlerz, a heart stencil from a previous like for ever kit, liquitex acrylic ink, and some felt clouds... I find writing quite hard, a combination of the M.E. and years of thinking I was no good at English at school, so I just wrote some lyrics from a song that summed up what I was feeling and thinking.  The song is Somewhere Someday by NSync. So this goes to show even teeny tiny pieces of ribbon can still be used!  If you like what you see here I have used;  Volcan Lace , Cotton ribbon , 3mm grosgrain , and both sides of Carry On Baking ribbon . Thanks for stopping by!

April Showers Brooch

Hi Guys,   I’m back with another DT piece for Crafty Ribbons Challenges.   This fortnight’s theme is NOT SQUARE OR RECTANGULAR picked by the lovely La Vikinga! I’ve made a fun brooch... I have used metallic edged satin 3mm and a few shades of grosgrain 3mm all from Crafty Ribbon .  I've also used cloud felt die cuts from SpiegelMom Scraps . I hope you'll hop over to the Challenge blog and join us!

I've Got Sunshine

A few months back I spotted a .jpeg in the facebook group Faith, Hope, Washi .  One that made me smile and instantly inspired me.  It was made by the very talented Jen Schow - her 'script and uplift' videos on YouTube are amongst my favourites.  Anyway, I squirrelled away the image and pondered on how to incorporate it in to  something I could make.  Then last month fellow 'like for ever-er' Caroline Free posted about make cut files in to stitching patterns ... bingo!  This would be the perfect thing to do...  I checked with Jen and she graciously said I could use her image and this layout was born. The layout is quite simple, lots of white on white with just a pop of yellow to set it off.  The stitching was all done by hand and took quite a while, but I did notice as I went along I got faster - practice really does improve you! I collected up some white sequins from different SpiegelMom Scraps mixes - I used Fairytale mixes tha...
