These Fingers

This layout uses an old sheet of black and white paper from My Minds Eye.  I bought it to colour in, which I did, and it then sat unused for a couple of years! It was inspired by a challenge from the Cut Shoppe to back a cut file.  I also fussy cut a few of the flowers and popped them in behind my photo. The labels are from Freckled Fawn and are another thing that have been in my stash for ages.  It feels good to get some of them used up.

Lace Bunting

Crafty Ribbons has some awesome lace in their shop.  They have all kinds of unique designs and this one has to be my favourite!  It comes white and I have dyed each triangle with a mix of Inktense pencils. I have then added some buttons , again from Crafty Ribbons huge selection, and sewn them on to match each triangle. Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful Moment

Hi Folks, I'm here today using a mix of my like for ever kit, SpiegelMom Scraps sequins and flair from Accent Scrapbooking . The majority of the supplies came from my like for ever kit featuring Dear Lizzy.  The patterned paper was screaming out to be fussy cut! I love these flair.  You can find this pack here . I added a little colour to the washi tape with some Inktense pencils and a water brush. And also added a little colour to the fussy cut paper flower. And here is the layout in full... I used Lilac Twinkle sequin mix and the flowers from Sweet Pea . Thanks for stopping by!

love this

Hey, I'm up with my first project from like for ever 's January kit 'Woodland' I received the add-on wood veneer and rather than being intimidated by it (it's huge!  What does one do with a 12x12 wood veneer?!) I decided to get straight to work! I took my cue from the colours in a paper and coloured parts of the veneer in.  I tested out a couple of techniques on the back to find the best way to apply the colour. The finish isn't perfect by any means... the colour spread a little along the grain of the wood, I smudged a few areas.  I love how it turned out, though. The rest is very simple - messy paper layers, an acetate frame, die cut leaves coloured in and tucked behind.  My finishing touches included some clear sequins and a piece of heart lace in 'gold' that matched the colour of the etched lines on the wood perfectly.  You can find the lace at Crafty Ribbons . Here is the process video.  I have so many ideas for this kit, i...

A to Z - J is for Jonquil

So, I was a bit grumpy about this!  I had a double page spread in my dictionary free.  On one side was Jack Snipe and the other Kingfisher.  There were two suitable words that fitted with my self imposed nature theme - Jay and Jonquil.  BUT the Craft Barn requested that the J page include a dragonfly... well, that didn't fit at all.  I wrestled for a while and came up with a dragonfly on a jonquil leaf even though this would never happen as they are not around at the same time... And it turned out OK, I think.  I used my Inktense and Coloursoft from Derwent. I was happy with this chap.  I was reminded by research just how awesome the colours in dragonflies and damselflies are. And then the jonquil.  I'm less happy with this part, but after about 14 layers I realised it was the best it was going to be.  I've always struggled with daffs - I need to work in another sketching session! Thanks for stopping by!

G is for Gull

Here I am, sneaking in, under the deadline by a whisker! For the Craft Barn's A-Z this fortnight the letter was G , and I picked a gull...   I also found a couple of new-to-me words... gutta-percha and inspissated.  I love this old dictionary! I am really pleased with this drawing.  Last fortnight was raspberry and I didn't get my pages finished due to illness.  Well, I think it is done but I'm not in love.  I may well come back to it with fresh eyes and work on it some more! Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments and messages!

A-Z - L is for Lark

L is for lark.  This one is a shorelark.  He was painted with spectrum aqua pens, Derwent art bars and coloursoft pencils. Not completely sold on his beak, but the more I worked the worse it looked to me so I called it a day... it may look better tomorrow! I'm hoping to have a hop around and look at everyone else's entries soon! Linking up at The Craft Barn

ENCOURAGING WORDS twenty sixteen

Late in December I decided I would have a weekly project that I could add to through out the year.  (I then discovered the Craft Barn were running their A-Z again, typical!)  It will not be a pressure project and if I miss a week and do two the next it really doesn't matter. I've had a Amy Tangerine journal in my stash waiting to be used so I decided this would be my base.  I've given each page a generous coat of gesso so it's ready to go!  I've also had a slight hankering to have a go at Bible Journalling for a while, so this project is going to include that in a round about way too. Here you can see me working on the front cover and first page... And here are the few pages I've completed so far... The stars below are gelato and a baby wipe through a stencil.  I need to play a little more but I am loving the gelatos so far - top Christmas present! The first page uses Shimmerz Dazzlerz which are a beautifully shiny texture paste.  Yo...

A-Z - B is for Bunting

I was over the moon to see the Craft Barn running their A-Z challenge again this year.  I enjoyed the project in 2013 perhaps the most I have ever enjoyed a crafty project.  I thought long and hard about how to work this year and in the end I decided to continue in the 2013 dictionary, in the same style and nature theme.  I did think try something different but as I said I enjoyed it so much last time - why not do the same again, for me, and enjoy it again? First up is B... for Bunting, Cirl Bunting in this case. It was good to get back to drawing... but I was scared of the eye.  I am out of practice!  It's not the best I've ever done and I'm looking forward to seeing if I improve throughout the year again. Thanks for stopping by! Linking at The Craft Barn .

Jumper

I was rather struck by a sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy , and this is what happened... All of the supplies are from like for ever's Wish List kit, plus a few sequins from my stash. I trimmed the wood veneer as the arrow was pointing the wrong way.  They are very easy to cut, and I added a bit of inktense pencil to the cut edge to darken it.  I stuck a pin to the back to make a little flag.  I trimmed out a couple of reindeer - I just love this sheet of patterned paper!  (I have/had five sheets!!) The background is a beautiful combination of art bars, Shimmerz, inktense pencils and embossed cardstock.  I try to photograph the shimmer every time I use shimmerz - I'm yet to catch on camera what I see in real life. I decided I needed to stitch the large alphas down.  Rather than just one lonely line of stitching I added a few lines - the paper doesn't need the stitching to hold it down, but I like the effect. Christmas Sewing Hoop

It's week two of Crafty Ribbons 12 Weeks of Christmas challenges.  This week is Christmas Carols.  Now I had intentions of making a layout but it didn't get made...  Instead I am using this sewing hoop... The Christmas song Let It Snow surely has to be one everyone sings along to - even if it is just those three words! I've used the Snowman Trio of ribbons and buttons and some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.  The base is some thin white cotton with some subtle land and sky added with an Inktense pencil and water brush. I hope you'll join us over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges this week!

Bracelets

I took these cords out of the fabric tags I used on my last layout .  You know me, I don't throw anything away...  I decided to make them in to bracelets.  And, what do you know, they fit me perfectly! I decided the plain cream was not enough for me so I used my inktense pencils to add some colour.  Inktense, once wet and dried, are permanent.  I added a few little crochet charms my Pet Crocheter whipped up and hey presto!  A wrist full of fun! I get a real kick making something from nothing, and from making something non-scrapbook-y with my Like For Ever scrapbook kit. Thanks for stopping by!

Love

I've broken in to my Like For Ever kit for July.  My favourite sheet of paper from the kit is the doodled borders so that sheet is featured in the first two layouts. The Like For Ever facebook group is such an inspiring place, this layout is based on a layout from Rebecca. I decided to use different coloured threads for some added texture... And I think I'll definitely be using more than one colour per layout in the future. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You Card

Here is a thank you card I made with the leftovers from my first session with the June Like For Ever kit.  I can never have enough thank you cards! I also used the scraps of ribbon left from my last card.  It was white ribbon (the wider version is still in stock here ) from Crafty Ribbons and I colourised it with some India ink. And those tiny pink hearts were an ebay tip off from the Like For Ever gang.  They come in a rainbow of colours and I boughta few packets so expect to see them on a lot of my upcoming projects!! Pencil Roll

My Mum is the best.  Look what she made for my Inktense pencils... I want to take them on holiday with me, and can't bear the thought of them rattling around in a pencil case - these are my precious ones!  A length of padded material, bias binding and thread was all she needed... and it's perfect! Thanks Mum!!

Full Colour

Remember seeing this on my desk about a month ago?  Well it is now fully coloured. And doesn't it look stonking?!  I made it in to this layout... It didn't really need much adding to it as it is quite busy in its own right.  I wanted to subdue the background where the photo was, but not to block it out completely - step in plastic wrapping from a bunch of flowers! Then to the alphas... well I tried to pull in as many colours as possible.  When I had finished the title I decided it needed some purple.  I don't have any purple alphas so I had a look through my purple embellishments and settled on the arrow paperclip. This may be my favourite layout...  I am on the look out for more 12x12 sheets I can colour in! Thanks for stopping by.
