Stick It Down | March Sketch and Layout

Hey guys!  I am here with my Stick It Down layout today. I kept pretty much to the sketch this month except for the sizing - and honestly that was a mistake!  Here's the sketch... I have used supplies from my Cocoa Vanilla stash along with cardstock and vellum from Papermill Direct.  The cut file is a new one from me and is available over at Pretty My Page as both a download and a pre-cut. ( Download here .  Pre-cut here .) I added some sewing.  I love the look of French knots but I always need a refresher on how to form them! Now, that mistake I mentioned... I intended the layout to be 12x12 but as I was nearing the end I realised that rather than intended white space it just looked like I had left a great big gap to the right of my page.  It was easily solved by chopping down to a 9x12 layout.  As I say in my video I mix in all sorts of sizes in my albums so I'm fine with it not being 12x12.  If I don't have a page protec...

Lollipop Box Club | Dreamer

This evening I am sharing a layout/video combo made in collaboration with Lisa from Lollipop Box Club. I've used the February Lollipop Box along with a leaf sprig cut file I designed for this collaboration.  You can find out more about the free cut file and sketch in the Lollipop Box Club Chat group on Facebook. I had such a fun time creating with this kit.  I loved the leaves on the My Green Cow collage sheets so much I had to draw some extra!  Do you doodle on your creations?  If you do, I'm really curious to know - are you ever 100% happy with them?  I know the doodles are meant to be just that, care free and imperfectly loose, but I couldn't help thinking 'if only I could rub that one out and have another try!' In the end I added quite a lot of doodling, certainly more than I first planned to!  It does add a whimsy that I love to a page so perhaps it'll be something I start doing more often. Here's the process video:  I'...

Christmas Cards

For this week's StickerKitten post I have made a quick batch of cards.  I find it easy to do a batch and vary the theme and design ever so slightly as I go. Here come the close-ups...  Thanks for looking!

SpiegelMom Scraps Guest Designer

I was over the moon to be invited back as a Guest Designer for SpiegelMom Scraps .  SpiegelMom took such a huge chance on me a few years back when no one had heard of me and I am forever grateful.  I think the opportunities that have opened up for me since then are because of the experience I gained with SMS.  Anyway, soppiness over, let's get to the scrapping! For my first layout I've used Mistletoe Greetings sequin mix and a Christmas tree cut file. I cut the tree on white card and used a selection of Shimmerz paints to colour it up. I've also used Shimmerz paints on the background and layered in a giant doily from SMS.  For all the little shakers I discovered covering craft foam with double sided adhesive and cutting in to thin strips was easier than faffing around with the 10mm foam tape I own.  It seems to bend and manipulate much more easily. On to project number two... hand made embellishments. For these I've used Easy Breezy Beau...

Pretty My Page Acorn Mesh Cut File

This layout uses Pretty My Page's Acorn Mesh cut file.  I adore the cut file - you can download it here or have it cut for you here . I cut it on kraft as I was trying to do something different.  That was my first 'mistake' - I don't really like kraft! I painted through the cut file with Minc Reactive Mist and added different colour foils to the leaves and acorns.  Second mistake - it needs quite a thick layer of mist to get a good foiling (presumably the Minc paint would work better for this... must buy some!) Mistake 3 for me is it is a whole page design.  You know I like my white space! But I look it this layout and I can see there is nothing wrong with it, it is just not my style.  I can also see what I can do to make it more me so I hope to do another version soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Stashbusting The Halfmade Projects

Here is the third in my Stashbust The Half-Made Projects series.  I wrote the lyrics to Sound Of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle using my Silhouette sketch pens.  I loved it but didn't have the right photos so put it to the side and promptly forgot about it!  I added some Shimmerz paint to the background.  I know I'm not very up to date with my music tastes but this is my favourite song at the moment.  The photos are quite fun too.  I layered three on top of each other and set the transparency so you could see all of them.  I printed them as a strip like you'd get from a booth. Here's the process video: Thanks for stopping by. Linking up at Inspire Me Mondays

Pretty My Page

Pretty My Page have this fab cut file ... and it's available as a download or a pre-cut option for those who don't have machines. It such an awesome file that you don't really need to do much beside add photos - instant scrapping if you like!  I added some distress oxide ink behind the cut outs, added my photos and then couldn't bring myself to cover anything up! I just added a small tag with the details and called it done.  It's one of my favourites at the moment.  Here's the video:

Rainbows and Matte Enamel Dots

Today's Pretty My Page project uses the leftovers from my first PMP project ...  I saved the rainbow negatives from my cutting mat and coloured them with some watercolour paints.  I arranged them in colour order and ran them through my sewing machine. I've added texture paste through the Rainbows stencil for subtle details on the background. I've added black shimmery splatters using Dylusions Shimmer Ink in Black Marble . And embellished with enamel dots - some regular and some with a matte finish.  I'll tell you now - you need these matte ones in your stash!  I've also used some foil leftovers from this project.  Never waste a thing if it's pretty! Here's the process video: Thanks for looking!

LLP Sketch Challenge

I'm guest designing for Lottie Loves Paper again... there is a brand new and exclusive sketch too! Here is the sketch I drew up... I've used Fancy Pants The Bright Side for my layout. It's a collection I picked up in the Lottie Loves Paper flash sales a while back and I'm really enjoying the colours and patterns. I've added in some tile alphas from Pretty Little Studio and some small Elle's studio alphas.  Of course a Laura layout isn't a Laura layout without some SpiegelMom Scraps sequins! Check in at the Lottie Loves Paper Community Group on Facebook to join in with the challenge - there is a prize up for grabs! Thanks for looking!

Traveller's Notebook

Here is my first DT project for Pretty My Page .  PMP specialise in cut files - both pre-cut for those without machines and digital.  They also stock a large range of mixed media items and are adding new items regularly. I've had an urge to make a Traveller's Notebook for a while but one with a twist.  I fancied odd pages, different shapes and textures - a bit like a junk journal but TN size.  Most of all I wanted some seethrough layers so I could have parts of pages peeking through.  Step up the Doodled Rainbow Mesh cut file.  The 12x12 pre-cut file was too big but I just trimmed it down to size.  The piece that was cut off will make it on to a layout fairly soon I'm sure!  A few of the other pages are pieces from the Layering Pack.  This pack includes dictionary pages, sheet music, doilies and glassine bags along with some real treasures like old collecting cards and postcards. Here's the process video so you c...

Shaker Wreath

Carrying on from last week's shaker pocket, this week is a shaker wreath for SpiegelMom Scraps. I had a relaxing time painting the wreath (which you can see in the process video) and loved the result.  It was hard to take a knife to it to cut the centre out!  I picked a muddy photo to scrap so I avoided painting the traditional floral wreath and stuck to greenery and leaves. I used some of my fave paper from Pink Fresh - it's the perfect shade of mustard.  I added a sprinkling of bugs! The ants are brads but because of the shaker pocket I cut the legs off and glued them on. I added a few journalling strips and called it done. You can find the sequins here!
