Scrap Squad | number 9

I loved the scraplift that the ladies over at Scrap Squad chose last week (and I managed to lift it and post it in the week it was set!  Woohoo!) My take is much more bold than the original, using up two packets of red and black foam stickers. I hid my title and little one's iniatials in amongst the jumble of letters.  I imagine the chaos of the letters is similar to the chaos of ten three year old at football training!  I added in some footballs too, because the layout was screaming out for football embellishments.  These are homemade/printed as I've never found this sort of thing in any of my scrap shop hangouts! I thought this would be a good clear out of my alpha stickers but it's only two from the bulging box.  I'll need to do another three or four like this to make a proper dent in them.  I'm low on e's and a's so title options are few! Thanks for stopping by!

hello love you

I'm very excited to share my first Skull And Cross Bund DT piece with you today... I was sorting through some bits and bobs in my craft room and came across a bundle of red and pink bits from a valentine's swap I did earlier this year.  I didn't want to find a home to store them so I used them on this layout... I added in Skull and Cross Buns Decreasing Circles stencil, Geometric Heart Acrylic in hot pink and stamps from the Quirky Sentiments and Retro Sweeties clear sets.  Here's the video:

Keeping Cool

My cheeky little Herb may be gone but he's certainly not forgotten.  This layout is of him 'sharing' an ice lolly in the summer heat last year. I was in the mood for lots of layers when making this one!  I've gone with a hot colour palette which also matches the lolly 'we' were eating. And I've become a big fan of a tulle layer on my layouts.  It adds great texture but is very subtle - both things I love. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Christmas Tree

Hey there!  It is single page reveal day at Stick It Down and I had fun interpreting the sketch by Angelika... Let's see... I flipped it, switched the photo with the title - that's the great thing about sketches, they are so versatile.  I've interpreted the grid  as apertures and used some of the gorgeous Christmas ribbon from Crafty Ribbons to back them.  I kept the layout fairly flat using washi tape and pen work as my embellishments.  I resisted the urge to splatter with ink as if a stray ink droplet reached the ribbon it would ruin the page. Thanks for stopping by, and see you over at Stick It Down with your take on the sketch!

Santa Card

I've started working on some clean and simple Christmas cards... These super cute Santa's are part of the Santa's Grotto collection from Crafty Ribbons.  I've layered them on some gold lace and a red card blank. Great for batch making your cards, and with a coloured card blank and gold lace you still get a nice hit of Christmas-y colours. Thanks for stopping by!

CANDLES

Rather chuffed with this layout... you see I have a new obsession - giant scalloped gold glitter washi tape! You see it there at the bottom in all it's scallopy goodness, but also covering the wood veneers. I've also used sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps ( black ) and a tube of star shaped sequins from the garden centre that must be 15 years old!  The washi and the paperclip came from like for ever .  And you can get loads of lace from Crafty Ribbons . I was inspired by Pretty Little Studio's sketch , although I switched the photo orientation. I adhered one photo by just two sides and slipped in a tag with journalling. And I used more of the giant scallop washi to cut a free hand title. The only problem I have is this wonderful washi only comes in one colour and I want it in ALL the colours!! Thanks for stopping by!

Monochromatic

This weeks Christmas challenge at Crafty Ribbons Challenges is Monochromatic with Ribbon. Monochromatic doesn't necessarily mean blacks and whites... "Monochromatic colour schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker colour, grey or black." As you can see I have made another tag, and opted for reds...   I've used loopy cord , satin 3mm , heart buttons , and Joy Love Peace ribbon. Be sure to join us at Crafty Ribbons Challenges !

L & B

I had to use the doily - I just had to!  It made it on to this layout channelling just the green and reds found in my Like For Ever kit for June. I'm not going to lie, I struggle with ephemera packs.  All the happy-happy sayings are not my thing.  My life is OK, I'm not unhappy, but it is not a conventionally happy perfect life.  I always look for ways to use pieces in ways other than how they were intended... Cutting this piece gave me a B for Bob and an L for Laura.  Perfect! The L is in the left cluster.  I added a Things That Shine cut file and some enamel dots and hearts to the Like For Ever kit. The B makes it in to the right hand cluster, along with a little bit of everything else that was included in the left hand cluster. Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Baby Boy

Another layout featuring my cutie nephew.  I'll never get bored of scrapping him, I hope you don't get bored of seeing him!! This features several shades of kraft with pops of reds and a little bit of pale green. Star sequins!  And a ton of layers... I managed to get some paper clips in, a tiny bit of ribbon, and staples.  Most of the bits were staple down instead of glued! The photos began to get a little lost so I circled them with some dark brown thin twine. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Baby Boy

Another layout wit my Counterfeit Kit... Still loving these sparkly thickers.  I used them and a flair to spell out my title... I also love this sheet of patterned paper from cocoa daisy. I added in a acetate/transparency.  Not really sure what they are called! And put it together on a sheet of pale grey for this layout: And he is usually so happy - love him to bits! Thanks for stopping by.

LOVE

Hello! I have the next in my series of mini canvases to share with you today.  (You can check out the other canvases in the series here: smile , laugh , happy & wish . )  This canvas measures 74mm by 56mm. When I work with ribbon I save all the snippets I trim from the ends.  When I have enough of a mixture of textures, widths and sizes I stick them in a pot, mix them up and glue them to a canvas base.  It gives awesome texture to paint over, especially the velvet ribbons from Crafty Ribbons.  I glue on my trimmings randomly with matte medium.  In this case I didn't glue every piece entirely - I was enjoying the flicky-out-y pieces! I then coated the entire thing in gesso to give a good base for the ink to adhere to.  I used India Ink in three shades of red to saturate the ribbon covered canvas, working it in to every join and fold.  To match in with the other canvases in the series I toned down the over all effect by dry ...

I Love Ewe

A little card to share today... I've used Ewe ribbon and digi paper from Crafty Ribbons, and red and grey offcuts from my stash. Sharing over at the playground and at inkspirational where the photo inspiration is Thanks for stopping by!

Listen.

A lot of crafters are doing 'word of the year' type projects at the moment.  I thought about picking a word but I don't think the time is right (because of the M.E.) so I'm keeping it in mind for next year.  I do keep thinking of the word listen though.  It keeps popping in to my mind.  I thought I would do an art journal page using 'listen' but I had an urge to scrap.  I had in my head that the two wouldn't mix so I decided just to scrap.  I chose a sketch to follow... ...and started looking through photos to find one that would work.  I came across this photo and thought that the two (listen and scrapping) would in fact work together. I've had these white frame stickers hanging around for years - they needed to be used.  I used some red buttons for CR .  I used some loads of thread (still can't get the hang of sticking it down with matte medium!)  A few brads and foam stickers. And some brand new stamp...
