Showing posts with the label pink

hello love you

I'm very excited to share my first Skull And Cross Bund DT piece with you today... I was sorting through some bits and bobs in my craft room and came across a bundle of red and pink bits from a valentine's swap I did earlier this year.  I didn't want to find a home to store them so I used them on this layout... I added in Skull and Cross Buns Decreasing Circles stencil, Geometric Heart Acrylic in hot pink and stamps from the Quirky Sentiments and Retro Sweeties clear sets.  Here's the video:

SMS Sequins Hop

Welcome to Sequin Saturday!  This is part of a three day blog hop extravaganza for SpiegelMom Scraps. You should have arrived via our two special guests Missy and Alex , to start at the beginning go here . I have made an acetate 'glass' for my sequin drink to sit in.  I used three layers of acetate - two to hold the sequins and one for the back of the glass which gave me a place to tuck my flamingo drinks stirrer. I've also used the SpiegelMom Scraps exclusive cut files from August for my Summer title. The sequins in my drink are Summer Sunset with a few pinks from Spring Blooms at the base.  The drinks stirrer is from my Proper Post subscription. As always with SpiegelMom Scraps blog hops, leaving a comment on each blog gives you a chance of $10 to spend in the store. The next stop on today's hop is Lisa - Happy hopping!

Nature Walk

Here is my first layout with this months like for ever kit.  I was fortunate enough to have some of my sketches included in the kit and this layout follows one of them... Here is my version... I splashed some very watery watercolour around on my background, and when it was dry added some splatters of an iridescent ink spray.  It looked so lovely I could have stopped there and framed it!! The majority of the embellishments are Cocoa Vanilla, with added ribbon mini alphas from my stash.  I wanted my title to match so I pulled out the watercolours again and had a go at the ombre effect.  Not quite as subtle as the CV ones but still lovely. The pink organza ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and I love the way the enamel dots and vellum leaves are layered among it. Entering at Avenue 613 . I'll be back tomorrow with another layout! Thanks for stopping by...

Pretty Please

As I find things that I don't want too throw away, but aren't good for layouts, I stick them in my art journal.  Things like packaging, used washi tape, 'off' rub ons, stickers etc. As I make anything with paste, paint or ink I add the left overs on top of those layers in my art journal. Then when I feel the need to get something out I pull out my journal and find a started page that matches how I am feeling. I had a few scraps on my desk as always.  One of them was the branding strip from Pretty Little Studio's collaboration with Pretty Please.  Another was a stamped cherry from Suse Fish's Felicity Jane kit.  Well, pretty please with a cherry on top suits how I am feeling right now! Lots of kinda confused layers... And big splotchy ink blotches, with a few sequins sprinkled on for good measure. Thanks for stopping by

A-Z: D is for Dove

This fortnight's letter at the Craft Barn is D... brilliant, I already know what I want to do I think to myself.  I can get back on track and link up with plenty of time to spare.  Ah, but there must be pink on the page - well, I couldn't find any pink ducks, (or pink does, or pink daws) to draw. Dove, though, are surprisingly pink!  There were a few species to pick from, but I plumped for Jambu Fruit Dove - isn't he beautiful?  Amazing feather colouration.  I do love my birds! Linking up at The Craft Barn. Thanks so much for stopping by!

BIG & little

Another layout using my Like For Ever October kit... this one with a completely different feel.  I love that with these kits, you can get several different colour palettes from the kit giving totally different flavours.  This one is rather feminine, the last lovely blues, and the next one I'll share will be different again. To the kit supplies I added seam binding and lace in white, enamel dots from a previous kit and alphas from my stash. I wanted touches of yellow but pushed it back by layering under vellum and lace. The tags were looking a little lost with no thread so seam binding to the rescue! I often struggle with the sticker sheets.  This time with no ephemera pack I made a real effort to get some of the stickers on each layout I made. I used the gorgeous vellum pocket as a base for my title.  More stickers, and the overprint left on the sticker sheet trimmed out and added too.  I love that the title starts with "DESCRIPTION",...

Busy!!

It had been a few days since I blogged.  I needed to make something little. Here is a little something I whipped up with some pale pink and pale blue snippets... Ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and tag from Spiegel Mom Scraps .  (Card scraps rescued from the bin!!) I'd like to enter this at the Playground and Quirky Crafts . And now for some waffle... May is on it's way.  I'm working on ATC's for the WOYWW swap on 27th May, which coincides with my 30th birthday.  There are a few other craft events I want to share with you... 2nd and 3rd of May we celebrate National Scrapbooking Day: Join the Facebook group here! Here is a code for 15% off in SpiegelMomScraps shop - NSD15 - it is full of pretties (not just scrapbooking!) Texture Bubbles

Some art to share with you all today... The canvas is 24" x 36" ish.  (The photos are taken on different days in different light, I struggled to get photos I was happy with.) Basically, I messed around creating texture and then added some paint.  I'm sure a different artist or an expert would go in to great detail and talk about technique and the thinking behind the painting.  I didn't really think about anything in particular, I just created with no goal or aim in my mind. I had fun.  I used colours that took my fancy not worrying if they matched or not. I tried to create as much texture as possible. And I added neon pink - just because! I think this is the way I need to paint.  To just paint instead of thinking. What do you think? It's hanging above my TV and I often find myself just staring at it! Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Home

This is the second layout with my January Counterfeit Kit .  I used a sketch from White With 1 & Sketchabilities,  (although I won't be entering to their challenge - I just loved the sketch!) I do intend to enter at Scrap Our Stash whose challenge is to use stash beginning with the letters in twine.  I've used; T for templates - used to make the circles on the background. W for writing - the background is covered in writing. I for ink - silver grey ink splatters. N for new paper - the flower patterned paper was a Christmas present. E for enamel dots. Pencil circles, fussy cutting, glittery alphas and my beloved enamel dots... I tried to use the enamel dots to spread the colour around the page.  The gold glitter of the title is repeated at the bottom cluster and to the right of the photo.  And the lime colour in the buds is repeated at both of the fussy cut roses. The ink splatters don't show too well on the photos.  They are subt...

Big Cousin & Little Smiler

Here is my layout for challenge 2 - Safety In Numbers - at Counterfeit Kit Club. I ummed and aahed for ages over the title, whether to use upper and lower case alphas, whether to leave the middles of the letters in... I tried to use pieces of all the scary patterned papers and then added some sewing with my new old machine... In the end I went all upper case with middles left in! And I added buttons.  That, my friends, is the challenge - use lots of one embellishment.  I chose buttons as my embellishment and I went all out!  Clusters in the middle of the page and rows at the top/side and bottom.  And here it is in it's entirety... Let me know what you think :)
