Scrapbooking | FTLOPP Moodboard

I am going to try and play along with as many of FTLOPP 's weekly challenges as possible.  I know I won't manage all of them but I'll be giving it my best.  Here is number one...  The layout is based on this moodboard: I've chosen to focus mainly on the top right image as well as taking the overall colour palette of the board - dark blue, gold and kraft or "old book". I loved the top image so much that I drew up a cut file inspired by it, cut it on navy card and backed the various plants with coloured papers. I added plenty of fine gold splatter behind where each leaf cluster would sit.  To embellish I added tiny heart stickers and enamel hearts.  I kept trying to add more but it didn't work.  The gorgeous ombre paper ( Cocoa Vanilla at it's finest!) in the background adds enough interest along with the cut file that any more and the photo would get lost. For my title I only had silver thickers.  They were glittered and th...

Whispers - 2

I took part in a round of Chinese Whispers (Scrapbook Style) over in the Mind The Scrap facebook group.  You can see my first layout here . For this layout I was scraplifting the lovely Claire.  I switched up the colours (no pink for me!) but other than that stayed pretty true to Claire's version.  I loved what she had done. Most of the supplies are from an old Lottie Loves Paper kit, with the mixed media stuff from my stash. It makes a change for me to work on black.  I love the effect, it really pops. I coloured up some SpiegelMom Scraps cork stars with ink and gesso and dotted them around the page. I find puffy stickers hard to use.  I'll whisper this... {I don't really think I like them}  Are we still friends?! Here is the video... Thanks for stopping by

NSD & UKSA

Happy NSD!  UK Scrap Addicts have a few freebie cut files today.  One is designed by me and called 'Ornate Fleur de Lis'.  You can pop over here to download it and find out how to join our challenge. I've made a monochrome layout with the cut file.  Most of the supplies are from March's like for ever kit, with added sequins. This was my first attempt at a wonky two sided border.  In hindsight I think I could have gone for even more of an angle. I love the detail of tying the loose sewing threads in to bows. I love this layout, probably because it uses 'that blue rose paper' from Maggie Holmes!  I really should have bought a couple more pieces!!

Baby Boy

Well, this is my last blog post for SpiegelMom Scraps before switching over to the Instagram squad.  You know by now I like my layouts clean and simple with white space and also, monochrome. Here, I have picked all of the flowers out of Chasing Azul (I have them tucked away for something else, keep an eye on the Instagram account!) I've tinkered with this month's freebie cut file.  I duplicated Baby, cut out the a, rotated the b and altered it in to an o.  Then I joined them all back together and cut our Baby Boy from vellum. I added a flair button amongst a vertical line of sequins and called it done.  To make sure I had a guide to follow when lining up my sequins I drew a few sketchy pencil lines.  I figured that at least some little bits would show so picked a pencil that matched the sequins. Thanks for stopping by!

Cutting Up a Cut File!

I usually cut a few bits on my Silhouette Cameo when I have it out.  This means some cuts don't get used right away, and sometimes the edges end up damaged.  Rather than throw this large background piece away I decided to cut it apart, discard the damaged bits and keep the good bits!  The file is from The Cut Shoppe. I backed a few of the petal sections with the gorgeous blue roses paper from Maggie Holmes' Chasing Dreams.  I adore this pattern and colour and I'm using it really sparingly! Incidentally, it is a perfect match for Pandora's Ombre sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps. I filled a glassine bag with some Pandora's Ombre and got a little sad that I had used nearly all of my supply.  I emptied about half out and threw in some tiny cheap white sequins that have been in my stash for nearly a decade!  I don't use them as they are not perfect but behind glassine you can't tell. I then used the left over Pandora's Ombre sequins to e...

Blue for Crafty Ribbons

It is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons Challenge and it is my choice of theme.  You must know by now I'm not crazily keen on pink, so I chose the theme of blue! I've had fun on the background with a few Shimmerz sprays and a texture paste and stencil. I used some hand dyed ribbon as a layer and tied some 3mm around my photo.  The paper is from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and the glitter stars are Freckled Fawn.  The sequins and doily are from SpiegleMom Scraps. I don't like to waste any ribbon and keep the 'tails' I trim off when neatening the ends of bows.  When folded over and tucked under a paper layer they make the sweetest little loops. I hope you can join us over at Crafty Ribbons this week!

SpiegelMom's Scrapbook Skippings!

Hello everyone and welcome to this month's blog hop, aka SpiegelMom's Scrapbook Skippings!   Today is extra special because SpiegelMom Scraps is not only revealing the new sequin mixes for this quarter, but she's also welcoming her new Design Team in their first team blog hop!  Go Sparklers!! Jody revealed the new sequins on the SpiegelMom Scraps b log which you can check out at the bottom of this post .   For today's blog hop you should have arrived here from Jody's ... wasn't her project fab?  For my project I am sharing a layout embellished with lots of goodies from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop. I've gone with a blue and green theme taking my cue from the blue felt-fetti hearts and the Bermuda Triangle sequin mix. I added a little mixed media to my background using Shimmerz Dazzlerz Texture Paste in Spun Sugar and Shimmerz Creameez in Luck O' the Irish . My tool of choice for this layout was my sewing machine.   I used...

17 months

Well, it's that time again.  It is nearly new kit day at like for ever and I still have layouts from the last kit to share. This layout is using 3 of the Studio Calico Goldie papers, the denim cardstock, thickers, and a few bits from the ephemera pack for layering. The cut file is from The Cut Shoppe , with a few hearts cut off (I used them on a different layout - I'll share soon!) I tried a yellow to blue ombre on the thickers but it all turned green - not surprising really, basic colour theory.  So I painted over them in white - you can always cover up 'mistakes' in scrapbooking! Hope to be back with more layouts from 'twentysixteen' soon before 'smitten' hits my desk at the end of the week!

Bobby knows...

Sharing a fun layout using my Like For Ever October kit Hello Beautiful. I absolutely adore this ombre blue heart paper.  It's one I could quite easily have stashed away as too pretty to cut! I added a little mixed media to the background.  Watercolour pencils, art bars and some navy blue stamping.  I added a few pieces of one of the rolls of washi included in the kit too. Then I searched through all of my 'mostly used up' little alphabets.  A pencil, paper, and a lot of fiddling around and I worked out if I pulled from six alphabets and turned two U's in to R's I could work this title. Then I went about layering and prettying... mini bunting from off cuts;  threads; tissue paper layers; label stickers; So much fun to put together! Thanks for stopping by

Samuel

I don't often share cards on my blog.  I don't often make them any more.  Just for those special times, really... like this one.  A good friend from my childhood becoming a mummy for the first time.  A very special moment, and a very special baby boy named Samuel.   I sliced up some blue papers and arranged them in ombre order.  I lined up some chipboard letters on the same papers, trying as best as possible to line up the patterns.  Then I added a length of ribbon and used glue gel to add the letters on top.  Et voila! Having made this card (and another since - to be shared soon!) I have come to realise that I do like making cards.  My cards are my cards though, not influenced by or to be compared to the delicately promarker/copic coloured image my Crafty Ribbons team mates do so well.  They are me, and I think I ought to carry on making them - no one else will - not comparing my cards to theirs and thinking I am doing min...

Busy!!

It had been a few days since I blogged.  I needed to make something little. Here is a little something I whipped up with some pale pink and pale blue snippets... Ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and tag from Spiegel Mom Scraps .  (Card scraps rescued from the bin!!) I'd like to enter this at the Playground and Quirky Crafts . And now for some waffle...
