StickerKitten | Christmas Tree Decorations

Here's a throwback to 2020 and some super cute Christmas tree decorations that hold a mini bar of chocolate. Check out my blog post over on StickerKitten sharing these cuties... (The link to the template no longer works but I just drew up a box to fit the bars of chocolate I was using.)

for someone sweet

StickerKitten's Sweet Pastels range has these cute lollypop stamps. I added a little coloured encil to the sticks and matted the stamped pieces on some of the patterned paper from the same range. I finished off with some ribbon from my stash.

Sweetest

Here is my first layout using StickerKitten's new Sweet Pastels range. You can watch the layout come together here: I've done lots of layering with these gorgeous papers. There is some white texture paste in the background for added interest and some sparkly sequins added around the page too. There are two stamp sets in the collection and I've heat embossed a sentiment stamp to serve as my title.  Aren't those wooden sweets adorable? Here, have a twofer! In the other stamp set that matches these papers there is the cutest little cottage and accessories. This was an experiment masking and stamping in different coloured inks and then watercolouring the open spaces with those same coloured inks.  I liked the outcome so much that it was upgraded from experiment to success and made it on to the front of a card. Thanks for stopping by!

Sweets

I'm getting in to stamping a lot more recently.  I can see stamp sets and know what I want to do and I'm slowly getting the confidence up to attempt it.  This stamp set from Skull and Cross Buns called Retro Sweeties gave me loads of ideas.  I have a particular idea for a scrapbook layout along these lines so tried a test panel of stamping and masking. It was time consuming but fairly simple.  I cut through multiple post it notes at once to make masks and shifted them around as needed. I then played with my watercolours, glossy accents, matte accents and chunky glitter to colour and accessorise the sweeties.  I'm not sure... half of me liked it best uncoloured. And although it was just a test panel it turned out so well that I made it into a card.  I popped up either side on foam so the sweeties are in a sunken channel. Now I have plans to super size and do this for a layout.  It won't be just yet though as I've just had some new...

Friday Smiles

This weeks smile is a pile of polite sweeties!  Hello! Linking up with Annie's smiles :)

Advent - Day 1

Woohoo!!  Let's start December with lots of happiness and smiles. It is the first day of Ali's Advent Event , you can join us every day in the countdown to Christmas.  We have loads of projects to share with you. The first project I am sharing is the advent calendar I started in October...   It has landed in Ireland and my friend was thrilled.  Makes all the needles in fingers worth it.   All the fabric was recycled from a canvas wardrobe that my brother had years ago.    I added in some Christmas Owls ribbon and a few buttons .     I edged a few rows of pockets with lace in matching colours. The numbers are laser cut wood that I got from the Craft Barn a few years back.  It has taken me that long to get around to using them!  I stamped them with a polka dot stamp and heat embossed them gold.  It wasn't a clean stamp, or the numbers were too static, so some of them numbers are totally cov...

Pom pom = wrong wrong!

...but it ended so right! It's my turn over at the Inspirations blog and today I'm sharing my tale of a ribbon pom pom that went very wrong but ended up as a rather nice sweetie dish. I started out by gathering a collection of green ribbons: gingham, grosgrain , sheer , velvet , dots , glitter bling and more! I attempted to make a pom pom but it looked awful - just like a bundle of dead ribbon!  I un-tied it and sat looking in horror at this pile of ruined ribbon... Then an idea struck - what if I tied these little bits around another piece of ribbon and wrapped it around the stem of a glass?  And this is what the sorry pile of ribbon became... So the moral is even if something you are trying to create goes wrong don't give up!  Keep thinking it through and trying different things - you never know what you will come up with! Have a good day :) P.S.  I still haven't given up on the pom pom idea either!  :)  I...
